Yeah, I found it. Only to discover at least two more gates I missed in the Mountains. Thanks.

RedPhzzon

Alright TROM. I've got a bone to pick with you...I'm just joking  but seriously though.

I've been playing Lost World for at least 4 times (currently playing my 5th). And of those 4 times, I've always given up because I could never for the freaking life of me could ever get my hands on the Super Missiles. I have exhausted every single method I could find. I searched every nook and cranny in the area. And I couldn't find a single freaking hint or iota that could help me get those Super Missiles. I gave up those many times because this game is not helping me with where I can find the damn Super Missiles. I want this 5th to be the last time I give up because this is really starting to bug the hell out of me.

So TROM. If your reading this. Please. Where in the hell am I suppose to find my first Super Missile Pack?? And please don't give me a puzzling clue. This game is too crazy with its "find shit on your own" mechanic and the Super Missiles have been the one thing that has been angering me to no end. Again, nothing against you TROM. You've got a great hack going on here, but these Super Missiles are literally the bane of this damn hack.

Trom, I have one gate left (I think)... And for the life of me I cannot find it. I have been consulting a map I found here:
https://scontent.fapa1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/12716420_10153924708879795_1909765963085192054_o.jpg?oh=1cc1df7a3895fb9e3c153e4bd766e9c9&oe=58DEA460

According to this map, it's the L gate in the mountains. Here is a screenshot of the gate in the Hunter's Ship:

How do you get to this gate? It appears to be off the room where X-ray doesn't work (more on that when I actually finish this hack...). There is a dropping enemy that I can manage to kago through to get into an area which apparently has nothing to it.
Please help (again!) Thanks!

I may be able to help you here:
use the sonic beam to get past a gate in the hilly swamps, kill draygon and one of the boss doors in that area will have the first supers behind them
I don't know which Super Missiles one is supposed to obtain initially, but the ones in here are the first ones that I got (using Highjump to clip through a platform): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeKoqCdJgE4&lc=z130udvrtxr2zxgef22syhyijye0v55v4
But this was also in an earlier version, so this might (sadly) not be possible anymore.

As sidenote, there is a collectable item (at least in version 1.4) that one cannot get anymore after killing Draygon.

Well I remember a while back when I played 1.4 I got the Super Missiles at the Hilly Swamps when I shine sparked on this area that contained a hidden path with Super Missiles. but now because of the latest version of this hack, I think TROM caught on with that and made it impossible to get it now. So once again, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. and I know TROM will just tell me to "explore" but I have explored every freakin area I could explore and still nothing. I love this hack but the back tracking in this game is where this Hack really falls apart.

RE Sonic Beam: (Its been a while, I've been stuck gate-hunting for past few weeks...)
Try speed boosting/shinesparking through the upper right of the first (I think) cave room in Rock Plains (EDIT: it's the third cave room, to the right of the long hallway room with the yapping maws). That path leads to sonic beam w/o the need for supers. There will be a part with ninja pirates and shortly after that is sonic beam
I hope this isn't too much to ask but, exactly what area in the Rock Plains are you referring to?

EDIT: So I found out that this whole time, there was a platform that can be revealed if I shot at it that helps me cross the blocks that I can't jump over. And I managed to get the Sonic Beam....I feel so stupid

Haha. I know what you mean. I thought I needed space jump to get through there and only came back after a few days of pointless exploration..

TROM

yeah guys, you take the good way!!!

Raidzero : for the gate you missed.....the map is good...it's located on top of a invisible verttical tunnel, that you can climb with space jump easily!  look carefully to the ice, the garphics indicates you the tunnel....Good luck!

Yep, worked. I bombed the hell out of that, never though to just try jumping. Thanks.

Alright, once again I need assistance. What is the deal with the pictured locked door? I have killed every enemy in this room and it is not unlocking. The room next to this one appears to be a dead end.

Aran;Jaeger

There is another entrance to the final area and if one goes there, one can find another door shell that needs to be unlocked, for this shell.

I'm still not done with this yet, but I've been enjoying slowly poking through this over the months.

I just beat Ridley, and I wanna say that I think you should reduce his health some, as the battle started to drag on a bit and turned into more of an endurance match, and I even did figure out how to make full use of the limited small platforms to try and stay out of his way.
And this was after exploring around and getting my Super Missile count from 11 to 25, and I still only had 5 health when he finally died after multiple attempts.

Without knowing exact numbers, I'd suggest lowering Ridley's health to about 30 Super Missiles worth of damage needed for a kill, assuming that most players will have between 10-15 Supers when they find him. (I had 11 when I first discovered him.)
This way it would still possible to beat him without having to explore around the area, and then players who do chose to explore for more pickups will be rewarded with an easier fight. (Instead of being necessary just for survival.)

Really fun hack so far though, I especially appreciate that even though the world if pretty big, there is still a sense of logical progression going on. (I:E  I find the Grapple Beam, so I explore areas opened by having the Grapple and find the next item needed to progress, and so on.)

My only other real complaint I have is I'd like it if both sides of the "Warp Zone" were connected by a Power Bomb door in the ceiling that leads to a short corridor about 4 or 6 blocks long that connects to the other side. (And maybe also have an Energy and Missile refill station in this connecting corridor as well.)
This way I wouldn't have to traverse across nearly all of the surface plains as well as part of the mountains just to get to the "Right-side" section of the "Warp Zone" starting from the "Left-Side".

raidzero

I finally finished this... A whopping 23 hours in-game time. This is the first hack that I ever had to ask for help on the forum.

The amount of effort that went into this hack is clear. Great graphics and overall good level design. I really enjoyed this hack up until I started the gate quest. Unfortunately the (my) experience was hampered by the sheer exploration difficultly (and a few irksome perma-stucks). Things should never be hidden even to x-ray (IMO). Many things have graphical hints but many more do not. I wish the warp zones would have been connected sooner. Traversing all the way through the rock plains to switch warp rooms was tedious for quite a while, but I am glad that for the gate quest they were connected at least.

In the end, I had 230 missiles, 74 supers, 28 power bombs, 4 reserve tanks and 13 e-tanks. From reading this thread, I know there are many more. By the time I had found all the gates I had no desire to try to find more items, I just wanted it to end :)

TROM

OK, thanks for playing and feedback....Maybe i will bring some changes you suggest to the next final version I have on my PC (more changes focus on graphics)...

It still works. You just need Ice Beam now.

Finished with this hack now, I must say it really was quite the adventure.

Time: 17:19 http://imgur.com/Alivf65
Item Collection: 110% (Or 14 E-Tanks and 4 reserves, 272 Missiles, 84 Supers, and 31 Power Bombs.)

Overall I quite enjoyed playing through this hack, and I like the custom tilesets going on giving the hack a very different feel, I especially like that there was quite a bit of above ground areas alongside with all the underground areas.
I was able to find most of the gates without a problem, though for the last few I still opted to use a map to save myself some headache.

Obviously I have a few nitpicks with this hack, one being that I think the Warp Zone connector should be opened up sooner than it currently is, not sure if it should be after Power Bombs, Grapple, or Speedboost though. (I know I previously mentioned making a new room that connects from the top, but I was assuming at the time that this "short-cut" would also be containing some kind of warp to the final area.)

I also felt like the Ice Beam combos shot too slow compared to their non-Ice counterparts, most notably the "Ice-Sonic-Blast" compared to just "Sonic-Blast" is a quite a loss in dps, "Ice-Sonic-Tidal" wasn't as bad but was still a notable loss, especially since it doesn't hurt the "Black Pirates" at all which was rather annoying since they were put alongside the Metroids in the final area making me have to pause the game and switch Ice off just so I can hurt them with my beams. (I mean I guess I could have just used my Supers instead if I wanted to kill them without having to mess around with switching beams, but then that's having to use ammo to defeat something I can normally kill with my standard beam weaponry easily enough.)
It was also a bit annoying that Ice-Tidal couldn't destroy those special barriers, only freeze them.

One other thing that I thought was a bit of a small problem was the Light gate in the Hilly Swamp, I had no idea what I was supposed to do until I looked through the forum posts here and saw someone else was also having trouble here.
It may be a good idea to add some kind of visual hint here for what I'm supposed to do, especially since that's exactly what you did in another spot for the Green gate in the Mountains. (Where here there is this visible crack going through the wall to indicate something was different here. http://imgur.com/bcPx7GB)

Also how in the world am I supposed to get through this Speedboost block here?
http://imgur.com/ZcsgPWb
The only spot I could see where there was enough flat ground was to the right of the screenshot which was covered in spikes that would interrupt my run, there was just enough room on one spot to get a running start and charge a Shinespark, but it was just barely too far away and I would lose the charge right as I got over to that spot, so I just gave up on trying to get the pickup here and just moved on.

All of these are relatively minor though, and didn't ruin the experience for me as a whole.
A great hack overall, probably a bit difficult for someone new to Super Metroid hacks, something I would recommend people check out after getting their feet wet playing some other hacks and are ready for something bigger.
I give this hack a solid 4/5

A Dummy : good job! you just missed some items.... in the game, there are 288 missiles, 96 super and 39 P. bombs....
But still a good job! this game is huge and many, many hidden areas.....

CONGRATULATIONS!

See TROM, that's where I feel where the major problem was in this hack. The Heavy handed Exploration. Unlike most hacks, the exploration in this game felt more...forced and intrusive. This hack was expecting way too much out of people when it came to exploration. I'd say Hyper Metroid was a great example on how to do exploration right.

PHOSPHOTiDYL

It's a wonderful example of exploration & feeling of being "lost."
Too bad "average" playthrough is only like 20 hrs.
It must consume my soul, plz.

DonnyDonovan

I think everyone has a different exploration sweet spot.  I played a bit of this and it was past mine, but, some players like it.  For me Z-Factor 1.3 and Redesign Axiel are about as far as I like to go exploration wise.  Those were fantastic.

skepticon

I started playing this hack this morning because it looked quite nice, and I have to say I did enjoy the visual style - at least what I was able to see.

However I stopped playing at spore spawn and don't intend to continue. The hack just isn't fun - it seems like it is designed to take as long as possible for no good reason. The tricks and jumps weren't the most difficult SM skills but are hard enough that it seems to be designed to force players to fail multiple times. In some instances it is very confusing - I thought I had soft-locked myself inside the large room next to the first missile tank for about half an hour until i realized the designer wanted me to do a very unintuitive sequence of running jumps to get on top of the 'tall house' at the top right of the room. I also question the prodigious use of spikes so early in the game when the player has little health. If the goal was to make me redo that section 10+ times and get frustrated from dying, well, mission accomplished. In the end, once I saw how the designer intended for us to fight spore spawn, while not difficult, I decided this rom would end up being too tedious for me to complete and threw in the towel.

I will say that I was also disappointed in the lack of enemies everywhere. The description made me imagine a planet teeming with wildlife, but there were only a handful of enemies even in massive rooms.

PHOSPHOTiDYL

Spore spawn & botwoon are probably the worst part of this hack.
You'll also be lost like you've never been lost before.

My first playthrough was 20ish hours on v1.3?
In game time.

Probably a week in real life.
There's also 230+ items?

Some of the required ones hidden so well you'll be backtracking forever.
Things are way better in the latest version.

Only game that took me longer to finish was mission rescue.
