Steel Sparkle

Not sure anyone is still playing this but i learned of a useful trick.
Also i cut out failures in the video so yea the cuts are obvious but it saves time.
If you wanna get the Tidal Beam early click the spoiler.

So is this the final version? Can someone recommend it? And to whom would that be targeted to?

I do and don't recommend this. The only issue I have with this game is its really heavy-handed push of exploration. You'll be getting lost easily. If you have the patience for that though, I'd say go for it.

I finally completed this hack! My IGT is 17:43 and item collection rate is 112%. Overall I enjoyed it. My complaints are:

 • Ridley has too much health. Holy crap dude!
 •
The post-Tidal Beam rooms with all the spikeballs you have to space jump around got really obnoxious. The u-shaped section after freeing the snail dude made me rage pretty good. I'd love to see respin added to this hack tbh.
• This unobtainable map square..
in Hunter's Ship
• There is a permastuck above
Hydro Suit if you fall to the left of the super missile pickup
• These ninja pirates on the far left after killing Draygon are too close to the left wall resulting in one not finishing its drop kick animation making it impossible to kill them with the usual method. I had to stand here and just shoot until they died, hoping to occasionally hit them between invincibility..
Bonus!

Crashed my game with super missiles getting reflected.

I think that's about it.. (Loved Hydellius too!) Looking forward to your next project! :bounce:

Ok I am pretty damn stuck here. I have been shooting everything with missiles and beams, but to no avail, and have tried to see if there were any hidden morphball points.

X-tradyte

I havent even found bombs yet and the area by High Jump is littered with perma stucks.

Did you even think about fixing these or have anyone test your stuff? I'm sure there are plenty more. I've gotten permastuck twice so far to the same thing.

Just started it recently, and early on after getting the morph ball it felt like there was a permastuck, but I was able to just get grabbed out by one of Yapping Maws and escape through a tunnel with the morph ball. There may be a similar enemy placement to get you out of an area you feel you're trapped in.
Edit: Nevermind, I see what you mean. You get stuck inside the ground there if you unmorph.

Strokend

Encountered a pretty big bug: In the mountains, where you got a lot of bomb-block drawbridges, you can lay a powerbomb, unmorph (but stay crouched), and then you'll fall through the bottom bridge despite it not being made of bomb blocks.
The area on the map, towards the right bit on the second bridge up.

I took the first screenshot a bit early but I fell through those bomb blocks and then through the bridge beneath.
I rewound, save-stated, and tried it several more times. It doesn't always work, but it does frequently. Edit: Apparently what stopped it working was being too far right. It lets me through the speed-boost blocks on the rightmost edge.

Nakuul

Ok I've tried just about everything I can think of.  How do you get to the item in the room with the ninja pirates in Hippopottymouth's screenshot?

Strokend

In this room, first door up on the right side of the room with the two Evir, is a permastuck. It's possible to get past the tall wall before you have the Hydro Suit by patiently jumping and luring the lobster-geemer in a full circle around the entire room, then freezing it with the ice beam as a platform. Progress through the tunnel and you won't be able to return due to not having the jump height (and there no longer being geemers roaming around to freeze).

Seems like this could use some more work.   I liked the ultimate version of Hydellus but haven't been able to get into this at all.   This and Mission Rescue I just can't get into.

RedAura

I'm unable to proceed, but I really like this hack. Please help! I have Powerbombs, Thermo suit, Blastbeam, Ice Beam, Hi-Jump Boots and Springball. Currently in the second warp zone with Mountains, Hilly Swamp, and Dark Forest. There are no gameplay videos which show how to get everything legit afterwards, because they all glitch early Super Missiles and throw progression out of whack.

caauyjdp

Meh. Tried this for a while, got back to warp zone after getting morph, died shortly after by going to zone with missile refill.
Playing this feels too much like a chore. You get to do couple of big rooms worth of boring/slow but non trivial movement, only to find a spike or a new enemy and have to redo the boring movement part again.

Anyone remember where the first super missile expansion is & maybe can provide a hint??

I am playing version 2.0 . Could I get a hint as to  where to find the space jump. I have everything except space jump , screw attack and plasma beam.  This is different than the 1.4 version. I have checked everywhere and need the plasma (tidal wave ) to open those doors or space jump to get across those blocks that become solid when you fall through them.

edit: I missed a door that required a super missile in the norfair area.  I am back on track now. Things are really well hidden in this hack.

I seem to be soft locked here: https://imgur.com/a/Sil5FtU

The way I came in is one of those gray doors that cannot be opened again (not the regular gray type, the other type, not sure what to call it), and the gray boss door is locked because I haven't killed the boss.  It's really frustrating that the player is lead down this path and given every tool to get into this area, but not be given the ones to get out.  There is one way out, which is a block that leads to a tunnel (where my map is centered), but it is not possible to jump up to it without the gravity suit.  Even if I could, I don't have super missiles yet, and super missiles are required to get out through the tunnel.  I've been trying to follow the correct path with no sequence breaking, but it seems like even if you do that, you can still be punished for it.  Very frustrating.

It seemed as if I was taking the correct path because enemies appear to be placed specifically to be frozen, allowing the player to jump where they wouldn't be able to (without gravity suit in water) without a frozen enemy there.  Maybe I was wrong and that wasn't the intention, but I feel like freezing enemies to get places is a pretty normal part of SM so I assumed I was on the correct path.

Now, I may be incorrect about this and one of the enemies in the room where I'm centered is supposed to allow me to get out.  I don't know, because that enemy hits a wall and freezes as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/jlv2eRS

Perhaps that's what I'm missing, as those enemies seem to be bouncing around walls in the room where the boss door is.  So maybe a bug?  Hard to tell, but I don't think it is.

Just read through the thread again and this is the exact spot where I'm stuck.  I don't know if TROM is still around, but this could definitely be changed in some way to not allow players to get here until they have the proper items, because I didn't have any trouble getting to this spot by just freezing a few enemies along the way. I did exactly what you suggested and lured the lobster around the entire room and went in, only to find that I couldn't get back out.  That was my first soft lock.  Reloaded a save state in the previous room, went back, and realized that the door in the tall room with the two red mini draygons will not let you back out.  Going to have to start over from wherever my last real save was.

lowkey

Managed to finish this.  Apparently it's still possible to sequence break with just hydro (gravity) suit and a shinespark to get the first pack of super missiles.  I thought this was the intended method until I read that it wasn't and that this method had been fixed in the newest version, but it's still possible to do, albeit very hard.  I assumed this was the correct way to get the first pack since the timing was extremely difficult due to two damaging areas on the ground before it and two enemies that spawn immediately before the area where you boost up.  I prefer not to sequence break in romhacks to experience the game the way the dev intended, but oh well, I still had a good time with this and traveling back and forth becomes less tedious when you get gravity suit and learn to shinespark through large areas.

Surprised I got 105% as I didn't go out of my way to get everything, and I can think of a few items that I couldn't figure out to get, one power bomb pack that's locked behind a wall with no apparent way to get to comes to mind.  Seemed longer than 20 hours too.

Overall I really enjoyed this hack, but finding gate doors was extremely tedious. I would have really preferred that when the map rooms are found, all gate rooms are shown on the map (but not labeled), since some of them were nearly impossible to find, and I just happened to stumble onto a few of them through sheer luck running at walls and such.  The permanent one way doors were also a bit of an annoyance and could have opened up after killing the area boss.  The initial soft lock I posted about was disappointing too, considering just how easy it is to reach that area very early on.

That said, if you're the type of player who doesn't like using save states at all, I'd imagine some parts of this hack would get extremely tedious.  I don't mind this at all and find the challenges interesting enough without the time wasting of getting back up to a platform to attempt a jump again.

cynicalCosmozoan

Been on a SM Hack kick recently, started up the latest version of Lost World (started a playthrough in 1.5 first before I got stuck). Currently have the Hydro suit and now I'm trying to do the normal progression to get Super Missiles, which from what I've read requires the Sonic (Wave) Beam to reach Draygon. Right now I'm trying to defeat two ninja pirates in the Rock Plain, but they're placed in such a way that I keep getting too close and getting damaged faster than I can damage them. Am I actually going in the right direction to get the Sonic Beam? And if so, how the [redacted] am I supposed to beat these bloody ninjas?

Zhs2

How did you even find the Hydro suit? I've been searching this hack for hours just for the suit, I know the gist of where to go after that but otherwise man this hack is full of empty rooms and too many places to search. I've been trying to do the legit way through without glitching to supers, and this thread has given me the impression of the sequence but no clues of where to find Hydro suit. Apparently I'm too braindead and everyone else has found the suit automatically?

Tundain

This is here you can find it
Look in the dark forest, around the area you had to go through to get back to the warp room when you went there the first time, there's a room with water that has speedbooster blocks
Honestly I felt like that place was a place I could easily remember, so at a certain point, I automatically thought, "I haven't checked there yet", and there I went.

Zhs2

Thanks for posting for future players - I kinda skimmed through Aran;Jaeger's playthrough before I saw your post and realized, yeah, the one place I did not go to visit a speed booster marker yet. Now I've edged my way past Ridley with the help of a Crystal Flash and into space jump. Here's hoping the rest of the hack isn't as obtuse as it has been... haha yeah right, I've still got the great gate hunt to go through.

This map is like a base for a complete map, it is necesary to put the image of the items, secret passages, hidden blocks and bosses.

At least in the actual state, it can be used to not be lost, you can see where are the doors of the rooms.
This map are screenshots tha I get with SMILE RF.
