I really dig how you did the control panel and display screens.   :huzzah:

Only thing that would make em better would be a bit of variation for the text/symbol parts, but I could see that taking up lots of extra space in the tile set (which I assume is rather limited).

I was on about more of the middle being moved up - I thought I'd try and be helpful. :^_^:

Those look really good Quiteus. I'll change it to that right now. Thank you  :^_^:

RealRed

Oh my god.
You made the wrecked ship look good.

begrimed

What Bloodsonic said, pretty much. I don't think I've seen the Wrecked Ship tiles used so well before. The display panels are a pretty sweet idea, too. Nice goin'.

Also, damnit because I was eventually gonna change Wrecked Ship to light gray also. lol.

personitis

Sexy. FoF, I see this hack going far. And if you were a detail whore like some others around here, I'd climax.

I'm trying to be somewhat, but I also need to make progress. Since I plan to redo every room in the game it's gonna take me awhile.

I don't see why you still can't. You're really good with coloration so yours would look better than mine anyway. I say go for it, if you had that idea also.

I'm trying to make the maps look...different

here's a version w/o those blue lines, not sure if I'm gonna keep it this way though

This is my fav one though

Parabox

I like the one with the diagonal lines a bit better. Always kind of wanted a little background for map that is not grid.

Yeah, the grid is fairly useless.

Also, here goes some super missiles to go along with the new icon. It's not perfected yet though.

Tried making it look more similar

Parabox

those super missiles are the shit, man! keep it up, can't wait to play!

Zhs2

In the golden screenshot you posted, those tiles that simulate corner blocks are definitely off. They need a desperate palette readjustment to work there.

Also, this hack is the shit. But it's not FullOfShit.

I'll get my coat.

RealRed

Sword missiles. SUPER SWORDS.
I like how you're getting all technical with the graphics edits. it's nice.

Scyzer

Lol. I'm glad I'm the first to comment on the WTF Reserve Tanks =D.

The left wing looks a bit off on the diagonal Super, but it's probably not noticable in game.

Actually, I already changed it.

Parabox

I kind of liked the WTF better, as no one really cared for reserve tanks, but whatever floats your boat. If you are gonna push this thru, please make it four seperate hearts (that you can see fill up maybe?) which, of course, each represent one extra heart. Hack on, my friend.

Sperry

Very nice! I wish I was as good as you are at hacking. :)

The WTF was just a joke, due to I have "n00b?" and "Leet" modes. If I had my dream, I would make these modes different. Like as in you take more damage as Leet, deal less damage, ect. That way I could actually let the player chose a difficulty ingame. I have no clue how to do this though, so I always left that idea alone.

I'm really not anything special. Most of the stuff I do is pretty basic, it's just a matter of learning what to do. The best thing I can tell anybody new to SMILE is not to get committed to a hack until you've acquired enough knowledge of how it works. Experimentation is key, and you have to be prepared to screw up some roms if you want to learn anything. Learn the Graphics editor, TileLayerPro, and the basics of Hex Editing and you're on the right road. shadow34370 has a bunch of tutorials of SMILE on youtube. Those are a must watch to any newcomer.

I saw the hud nice design! The super missiles are great as well!!I can't wait to play this hack! After I finish cliffhanger anyway :yay:

Some of the mini-hack I've been playing with. It's not the same one as the first.

EDIT: OBSOLETE, but still got a neat soundtrack  :^_^:

GOD TIER

That pink room is a bit bland and boring in terms of tiling, though.

Silver Skree

World Revolution remix gains automatic win.

Also, it looks pretty nice, and the all the spikes remind me a LOT of my IWBTM hack. This gives me ideas for it :shocking:

Jathys

I'm not usually a fan of excessively spiky rooms, especially when the spikes are there only to increase difficulty. But that's not what you've done here. Mixing the spikes with the shutters? Nice. The rooms take on a nice puzzle quality and actually look fun to play.

Silver Skree

Oh, I also forgot to compliment you on your doors. Those are fucking NICE.

I agree. It's just a rough draft though. I was focusing more on puzzles than design. I'll go back and make it more visually appealing later.

One of the names I was considering was I want to be the girl/Samus or Kazio Metroid. Probably will just end up giving it it's own unique name though.

I HATE spikes, which is why I made so many of them. The shutters and spikes combo is going to be a blast to play with, expect more of those. It is actually challenging and fun at the same time.

Yeah, they actually turned out decent. It has to be in Criteria for them to flash blue like that though, so they might look bland in some boss rooms.
