I'm not going to make bla bla bla
You're not going to write a big post about my logic because you know nothing about me. About my logic, and off cause about women's logic at all. I don't want to quarrel, i just don't want to read messages like this. Seriously, you don't know me. So, please stop it. I hope you'll hear me.
I repeat it once again, i'm not looking for a fight, and i try to be a friendly. I don't understand why you're trying to bite me. I have my own opinion, and i'm not trying to prove anything to anyone. I cannot change anything in this situation. I only have two decisions: participate and get a feedback, or shut a fuck up and don't whine if I'm not happy.

Imma say this once...

STAHP

Seriously. Everybody.

The breakdown:
This looks like it would make for a great underwater room. The Crateria-tileset background looks surprisingly well, and the florescent colors work quite well, imho. The cartoonish outline on the main layer looks a bit out of place, but it isn't too bad.

lol

Not bad, but not the best you've done with this tileset. I'm not a big fan of the "fence" blocks at the bottom. Also, I'm kind of concerned as to what would happen if somebody wandering into the room without the high jump.

This is one of the better looking ZM rooms I've seen, and probably the best with that particular Brinstar tileset. The pillar in the middle looks very nice, and I want to explore and see what's down that lava pit.

As far as hallways are concerned, this is looks excellent. The Metroid doors fit in astonishingly well with the Castlevania tileset.
In the end, Jefe got my vote.

Tons of good stuff I see for this week. I love your tileset, Mst. I feel that a lot could be done with it and it's really unique. However, Quote, yours grasps me as something that could be used for a great idea. If that one could be finished, I would love to use that tileset. Jefe, Your room could use a better layout for the background, maybe try something to bring out the fg, it would really help the room shine through. snarf...I'm not really a M1 expert so I really dont have much to comment on. It's a decent one scroll room though. Hawntah, I remember how different it was to use DH, or ZF for an editor, and I can tell that it isnt Super Metroid..at least I dont think. Looks good for Zero Mission, but could be better. I'm not really a fan of that tileset anyways.

My winner is Quote for this week, hands down. Mst, is pretty close to a tie with that.

Ok so I read the instructions/rules, how do I submit an entry to the weekly contest, do I just post the image in this thread on the weekend?  Does it have to be one screen or can I submit a full area between scrolling transitions [M1]. For example a full vertical scrolling area that consists of 3 screens, or a horizontal area that consists of 5 or 6 screens?  Also, what about the image resolution?

Yes.  The mods change it over to the submission, and this comment / voting part gets archived.

I know there are currently workarounds, but use your judgment - it'll be what would normally be separated by doors.

Again, use your judgment with resizing and what have you.  As long as no tinkering is done, such as filters or whatever, you should be fine.

Hopefully that helps a bit. :^_^:

I learned something interesting about Super Metroid modification recently, quite thanks to Bloodsonic: you can create one room with the maximum number of screens and create the illusion of it split into several, smaller rooms through door separation. That's technically still a room, right? I think it'd be interesting if someone entered one of those.

Also it looks like people are being slow to update this thing. Man, I'm being lazy right now!

personitis

I'd like to say we've seen one or two of those before, but I can't be bothered to go back and check through every single last one of the images in the archives.

Quote58

Iirc Grime has submitted at least one room like that in the past.

Yep, that clears it up.  But one last question, can I remove the editors grid lines so it looks the way it should in game or is that considered too much editing of the original?

MetroidMst

Generally it is encouraged to remove the editor gridlines.

Yeah it was his bubble room with the grey/green palette. I remember that one very clearly.

I've also tried doing tricks like that as well. I think the Yellow Scroll patch comes in handy for it.

My recommendation would be to use the "generate map" feature. Select the screens that make up your room, and uncheck "Show Enemies" (the consensus seems to be enemies/sprites should not be included in screenshots). Save it as a GIF and you're good to go.

Thanks Snarfblam, I was just about to ask about the enemies.

EDIT: ok, got one ready, thanks for the tip on the generate map feature, I overlooked it previously.

Alisa Orlova

What can be difficult in that you have to read the rules and get familiar with the previous works?
To be a friendly i suppose.  :^_^:

I'm not going to access my laptop at the weekend, so I'm going to post it now.

That actually looks really good. 11/10.

Vismund Cygnus

Minus  the weird palette on the Ridley face, AND THE BUBBLES GOSH DANG IT, that is indeed a pretty nice room.
Also I don't know when I'll be near a PC so if one of the other mods wants to fix this pls that would be wonderful.

Jiffy

I made some edits to it, including getting rid of some of the glows on the smaller bubbles.

Cloud20

Important :

THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY / THIS IS A TROLL ROOM

But, you can enjoy this pretty norfair room made entirely with Word 2003  :yay: :
