Hello. This is my thread where I will be posting updates on Cheesy, and such.

Do not ask. Just post.

First screenshot of Cheesy is below.

Enjoy watching it evolve. Then enjoy using it.

This may seem like too obvious a question, resulting in you giving too obvious an answer, but what is it?  An editor?  Tile editor / viewer?

interdpth

I am interdpth. I make editors :)

I do need a slight graphic artists if anyone wants to make icons

Xaggoth

A more extensible version of SMILE?  Are you going to release the source on completion?

I'm not asking questions, I'm making a question mark delimited list of cool things related to that picture.

squishy_ichigo

Maybe if you guys hung out on irc, you wouldn't have to ask questions, eh? ;D

Finally got something for us to look at, keep up the steady progress "Wine" :D

Below the tools and tileset is where the map will be. Window will resizable so you can edit as much of the map as you want!

stat!k

those pictures look good, when this is finished ill probably give it a go. I could try draw up some icons if you want (might post some later)

These any good for the editor?

They're not mine, but I checked, and they're free for personal use, so as long as you don't sell Cheesy you might not get assassinated.

DFPercush

I can contribute. I have spawned a project called SMAll (Super Metroid Allocator) that manages memory and moves things around. It basically fills in where smile falls short for repointing things and adding new rooms/states/doors/whatever. I have my own GUI code based on OpenGL which I'm using for other projects, and I won't open source that part. However, I will start working on abstracting the actual allocation code into a separate module so it can ported to your project. I never planned on making a full blown editor, but it seems like our projects would go very well together. See you on IRC.

interdpth

Sure thing DP
Update: will be doing hardcoded maps tomorrow :)

And waiting for picture things so whichever comes first comes with a new picture!

I have no clue :P
Edit: To view more of the tileset you will be required to zoom out. How should this be done? Via a button to magnify/demagnify or what?

Silver Skree

No, please let us drag the tileset/room window border and manage the space given to each.

Zhs2

Apparently scrollbars are out of season?

stat!k

scroll bar FTW! its much easier and that way the tiles will be a consistent size and easier to see

personitis

Looking nice and convenient so far. As for viewing more of a tileset, maybe being able to drag the bottom edge down to view more or have an option to view so and so rows of tiles.

IMetroRat

Ok, So you know Smiles Palette editor? Maybe You can have that palette editor under the tileset and you don't have to Click "Refresh" Every 5 sec. Just for more easy stuffs.

PS. Can you add .GBA and SMC. files So that It could edit Metroid zero mission and fusion And teh super metroid? That would be kick ass  :heheh:

You know that he already made a GBA Metroid editor? Adding support for that would be useless. ._.

UPDATE:

This is map zooming.

Next I need to implement Tile zooming and showing more/less tiles.

SirAileron

Haha, if this makes it so that even the dumbest of the dumb can make new doors (and maybe rooms), I'd actually be able to sit there and putter around with my thoughts! XD

Quietus

While the zoom in / out buttons are great for practicality, could you not just add shortcut keys for the more experienced peeps.  The + / - keys would be an obvious choice, or even allow the mousewheel?

interdpth

While the +/- keys sound like a good idea, there will be buttons for both map and tileset. >_>
