It's a common exploit with GT. My guess that's why DMan increased his damage and health.
Thats something I would like to also know. As far as i know i got every item that is usually in the game except the xray. Even resorted to checking the room using smile, but it only says the door is permanent shut.

Daltone

lol, just keep playing, your not done yet there's story to be read!
go down and back into the room where you hit the super missile block to go down below... remember the grey door way to the left? well it's open now, so head there to complete a quick task before you can proceed
Or you can just push him to the right, align yourself with his front foot, making you impossible to hit, and you can kill him at your leisure.  Used this trick against GT forever.
I assumed that Digital Mantra used the common fix for this problem, namely that the terrain over at the right-hand edge of the room wouldn't allow you to do that. He certainly filled the rest of the room with plenty of obstacles.

The main issue IMO is that GT doesn't do his claw swipe or energy-wave attacks, which are the ones that come out quickly enough to have a decent chance of landing. Otherwise, hugging a wall gives you an easy way to avoid all of his attacks, since none of them really go up at all.

Anyway, I finished my recorded playthrough. I used a lot of savestates (2416, to be exact) in an attempt to keep the action reasonably smooth, but I didn't use slowdown or frame-advance. The final time is 1:05, with 59% item collection -- way more than I needed considering the savestate abuse, but I wanted to show enough items that an unassisted playthrough wouldn't get into trouble (translation: I got basically the same items I did in my unassisted playthrough).

Eris playthrough

Thanks again for making such an excellent hack, Digital Mantra!

^ I can't get over how interesting Phantoon looks in this hack.

Am I in the wrong spot, or is Kraid WAY too overpowered? I have
Morph ball
Bombs
Ice beam
Spazer
Grapple
Speed Booster
3 Supers
12 Missiles
EDIT: 3 Energy Tanks, as well
If I missed something, kindly give me a hint, I'm pretty sure I've exhausted all my ideas, and please, tell me it's not just my lack of skill  :<_<:

Quietus

That list looks about right, to be honest.

Ralisor

Nevermind, figured out I have to go fight
Golden Torizo
and get
Powerbombs,
then I know where to go    Thanks anyways  :^_^:

Derakon

You also have access to a lot more energy tanks and super missiles than you currently have, which is making things harder than they need to be. Kraid has a lot of health and his attacks are not trivial to dodge, so his fight will take awhile.

Ralisor

I beat Kraid as soon as I got
Evasion, after P-Bombs
Now I need to backtrack and see what I need to do next, if someone wants to leave me a hint, I'll check it when I feel lost :D

Derakon

Kraid's reward gives you access to
space jump. It requires abusing the way you decelerate very slowly when underwater.
Also, powerbombs give access to
wave beam
by way of another key item you don't have yet. You'll need it for one of the artifacts (and the above-spoilered item for another); after that, you should be clear for final cleanup and the endgame.

Ralisor

Thanks, I'll see what I can do :D

Ralisor

Okay, I've wandered around for about an hour and a half, and yet I can find nothing, will someone tell me the general area to go please?

My Map:
P.S., I've gone a bit to the right, but It wouldn't fit in the screenshot
Items:
Morph
Bomb
Ice Beam
Spazer
Charge
Speed Boost
Hi-Jump
P-Bomb
Supers
Missiles
E-Tanks
Evasion
In the northeast area, with the sandfalls, there's a bunch of glass domes with orb thingies in them. You can destroy them with powerbombs. Then there's a secret passage if you morphball in the top sandfall, which will take you to the springball. My playthrough video covers this at 41:24. Super Metroid: Eris complete playthrough.
Alternately,
High-Jump boots let you get to Spacejump now. There's a room in the northeast part of the map that has an energy charge station and a door in the ceiling. Open the door, then get a running start and jump up into it. You'll go sailing up through the (water-filled) room above, high enough to reach the top. From there you ought to be able to find spacejump.
You'll need both of these eventually...

Ralisor

Thanks Derakon, I'll get back on it :D
Shoot a super and it starts crawling around.
The more I play this the more I miss early evasion.  It let you be (not feel like, be) such a badass, and now you only get it when you don't need it anymore.

on the other hand, changing the missile recharge at the end of the pictured section to an energy recharge is exactly what i wanted.

Anybody know where i can get the hack? When i click on the link it says Dmantras site is down. Otherwise if anybody could email me the hack that would be great. Already have the rom. Wanna give this a shot since i loved the 2009 release.

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought that a super blast kept the 'head command' in place.
More stuff to fix before update I guess.

Well, I have been floating here for the past 6 weeks or so, and decided I should join as I want to become a part of the community and get stuck in, but I need help. But I will talk about that on another thread.

I just finished this hack tonight and was blown away. I never played the 2009 original as I have only recently got into the rom hacks (and given that SM is my fave game of all time, that is kinda nuts!), so I can't compare any changes.

...But I can compare with other hacks I have played, and the only one that is just as good as Eris 2012 in my opinion so far is Super Zero Mission. (Hacks I have played through so far are: Super Zero Mission, Ice Metal Uninstall, Oxide, Phazon 0.3, Cliffhanger Original, Project Base, and the mini hack Temporus).

My time and completion rate are thus: 7:01 with 87%

The part that really stood out for me was the 'falling' room before Ridley - that was so cool. Also, I thought all the graphics and design choices were brilliant, I can't fault it. Even the reverse gates thing needing wave; I enjoy being stuck for a bit then finding my way :D

Fantastic job DMantra!!

Play Redesign.  It's a huge hack, is pretty much the hack that galvanised most of us to hack (SM) in the first place, and still holds up well today. :^_^:

The not being able to walljump off everything scares me lol, but I will do it next, just in the middle of Pantheon at the moment.

DonnyDonovan

I'm playing this for the first time since the original, and I can't believe how much I've forgotten.  Anyway, I'm in a huge green room near the endgame.  Ridley and Croc are dead, Plasma obtained, I'm almost there.  The problem?  The path to the north is blocked by a rock formation and to the east by a grey door.  Can't seem to find my way.  Hint?
