Then surprises is what we will get! can't wait to see your full accomplishments for your good ol mini hack!

OMFG I LOVE IT.  my only complaints are that the charge beam is hard to see the gauge, perhaps a higher contrast for the ON/charged state would work better?

Quietus

I like the energy bar part, but I'm not in love with the other bits.  I can appreciate the work, however. :^_^:

Qactis

Great job sadi! Looks awesome :D. Also FoF I dig your custom gfx approach it seems I definitely do it differently, but maybe I'll just have to do a vid myself for the contrast (and a sneak peek at some nifty ones I plan to do).

...it's possible.

Now guess what I meant when I said that. :^_^:
To the people I've shown this on IRC: don't give it away, yet!

Take control of the Mocktroid?
That's only half the truth.
Samus is Player 1, but the Mocktroid is not.
Just sayin'.

If you're getting at what I think you're getting at, I may have just interested my pants a little

Yep, it's exactly what you think.
as interesting as samus vs enemy and enemy vs enemy might be, I'd much prefer to see samus vs samus

imagine the level designs we could create for such a match! :awesome:
Okay, here're some facts about the above Screenshot:
- Samus is controlled by Player 1 and the Mocktroid by Player 2 (obviously)

- In the Screenshot, I synced the emulators locally on my PC. If you want to play online I suggest
any platform you can build up a proper server for the match (I recommend using Hamachi in this case, if someone
doesn't find a better server platform)

- Since SNES9x has a suboptimal way to perform netplay, the game's speed is rather slow.
It's also ping-dependent, ie the speed of your ping influences the game speed.
All we could do is waiting for a better release of SNES9x with optimized netplay.
Version 1.53 has the feature removed, so I suggest using either v. 1.51 or 1.52.

- Both players have their individual camera.
This was made possible using a cheat for player 2.
The cheat sets a certain bit in RAM, which causes the camera to follow the enemy.
Since both players must have the exact same ROM when playing, there's no other way
to split the camera besides using a 'cheat' to manipulate RAM. And only SNES9x allows the use of cheats during
Netplay. ZSNES is not suitable in this case (though it has a better netplay feature).
Oh and using advantage-giving cheats like infinite energy only desync the game and make it not work properly
anymore, so I advise not to use them.  :heheh:

Some more ideas:

- A lobby screen where each player can choose if he wants to play as Samus or as enemy
(Fighter Pirate, hint hint... ;), maybe even able to select colors, but that'll come later.

- After they've chosen the characters to play with, both players have to press start (ie mark themselves as ready)
to get to the level selection screen.

- The game starts, one player spawns on the left hand side, and the other player right hand side.

Yeah, that'd be cool BUT it's also a TON of work!
The game has to calculate Samus' movements twice out of both controller inputs, and indepenently, which is the hardest part.
Best way would be using indices for all the things like XY-coordinates, movement type, speed etc.
Still a lot of work.
I'd be glad if someone would join the project, 'cause coding everything on my own doesn't make fun at all.
Having a team is much better IMO.
Just pm me or tell me via IRC when anyone is interested to jump into the boat. Feel free to post ideas/gfx/possible level designs/criticism etc.
Everyone can contribute anything, I'm sure!  :yay:

Not so much that I want to show this off or anything. I just wonder if anyone wants this tileset for anything.

Yes, I know I already released the Ice Metal tilesets, but that's another matter. Steamfair in IM1:U uses version 2 of the tileset. The reason I did not go further with this one is that it's badly sized which makes it hard to work with and DO anything with it. Regardless, I can release it in case anyone wants to give it a shot.

M1 Enemies

I got bored.

Qactis

lol that was one of the aspects of M1 I absolutely hated

Qactis

Palette is a lil too bright on those "deep underwater" maridia rocks, but damn they are sexy

Wait a few months and you'll very likely get a nice, small game you can play with 1-3 friends to spend some time. It's already ~40% done.
(Sorry, the colors are a bit too bright in that screenshot.)

Power Missile

Some of you who frequent #metconst on IRC know that I am more active there than I am here, so for those who rarely/don't go on the channel, here's some pics that I'd like to show.

Here's some stuff that I did, ranging from completely grey doors, a slightly different HUD, M2-style Missile/Super Missile Tanks, and the X-Ray Visor.

And here are some Prime-style HUD icons (Since Super Missile and Grapple Icons do not exist in Prime form, I drew these from scratch).

I'm kind of getting interested in drawing up stuff, but ideas are blank right now.
