Some gray doors activate when you defeat all the enemies in a room

this didn't trigger for me.  he may be having the same issue.
and, it's not getting stumped.  i did the same thing 10-15 times in the right room and nothing kept happening.  i came back later after walking around the planet another once or twice, and the event properly triggered.  that's why that whole argument happened on like pages 2 and 3.  at that point i had been to the right room a bunch of times, but nothing happened and obviously i didn't know that and i had nowhere to go.

I'm guessing this is the same issue I'm having. The one grey door I havent been in won't open because the only enemy in that room is the floaty ghost made of skulls.....Thats the only enemy I am running into in Subterrane, besides the boss I defeated and the two compound enemies in front of his door. =/ I'm wondering if there is an event somewhere that is supposed to change room states that has enemies so I can open that ddoor?
If your talking about the north eastern door in Subterrane, it's not a gray door...
EDIT:How the hell do I get in here?!?! I have been in every room around it bombing/power bombing/x-raying and rubbing against every possible wall!!!
go to the room in the northeast on subterrane and kill all 3 sidehoppers(2small, 1 big).  does the gray(blue) door flash? no?  congrats, we hit the same bug.

In the room above that there should be a bunch of snail enemies and they can eat through certain blocks.
Thank you Orel! The max is 250/50/50 right?

I dunno if anyone else is having this problem, but I can't move Samus as soon as the game starts proper. Can't do anything but enter the ship and save, and I have no idea what to do.
Pretty sure the rom is unheadered (3,072kb right?), and neither ZSNES or bsnes will work. Bear in mind, I can do whatever in the menus and what have you, but I can't move Samus.
Any help?

Ignore that, my "clean" rom was already patched. Problem solved!

What's up with the gray door in the Crateria shaft (has 2 doors to Deep Ice and a door to a room leading to a super missile pack)? I can't seem to find my way around it. Also, I know something is over there because:
I found something in the south western corner of the grapple room which i can't reach.
I Have no idea
I thought that door was used during the escape sequence
Jasonv

Can't say I didn't see that coming.  LOL

Back on topic:  Eppy's LP of this is pretty interesting, especially when he finds the first map room.

Tyjet66

Ok, serious question: Is Screw Attack obtainable without heavy TAS abuse? If so, I fail to understand how... I still got it though.

I lol'd so hard at this, cause I genuinely didn't come across that many problems.

*below is aimed at people who doesn't seem to be getting the point*
Also, in regards to subtle hints... THIS IS FRIGGIN' SUPER METEOID! It was a game that brought the "exploration by looking at your surroundings and picking up on hints" thing to a whole new level. If you don't play a game like Super Metroid and specifically look around at your surroundings as you play, you probably aren't enjoying it nearly as much as it was meant to be played.

I'm sorry, but Super Metroid (and Ice Metal) isn't meant to be a "OMG HARD!! AWESOME!!" kind of game, that's just what people who don't understand video games made it with a lot of poorly done (or sometimes very well done) hacks. If something as simple as "looking for clues" doesn't make sense in an exploration-based game, then I think you might need to take a step back and consider if you're truly a fan of Metroid or simply running around shooting things. *sigh*

/end rant

Spider2745

Well in all honesty i didn't get perma-stuck because of a glitch
the reason i got stuck is i exited and reentered a room and the room reset itself
so i got trapped between some speed booster blocks and a super missile gate

Lunaria

We are not referring to you, spider, in fact I must thank you for finding a legitimate spot where you get perma stuck, I'm surprised Dman did not mention it. :o

I actually agree with you for the most part, i love looking for the subtle hints and finding stuff and exploring new areas, but like most people i occasionally get stumped and then have no idea where to go. now, instead of posting about how i can't figure out where to go, i take that time to explore these areas some more with power bombs and the x ray scope and when i finally discover whatever it was i missed i think "man, that should have been obvious to me".

The point of my previous post was that everyone that plays metroid is going to play it differently and there is no wrong way to play it as long as you're having fun.

Hiroshi Mishima

I understand, Orel, and my post wasn't directed at any one person. I just got kinda aggitated because it felt like people were constantly trying to get stuck, abuse glitches, or just not bother looking around. I think someone had said they don't like looking for subtle hints, too, and that sorta made me snap.

I apologize for the rage-post, I just felt it was something that needed to be said. I am glad to know that others understood how I felt, though.

Tyjet66

Alright, I'm going for 100%, here is what I have now:

I am clueless as to where else to look, but i have found these:
How do I get in these doors?

What is this doing here?

I don't want exact answers to these but if I could get hints it would be much appreciated. And yes, I'm aware of the items in the final area.

sygnus2

I'm gonna take a gander and say this isn't supposed to happen

Bit hard to see, but that fiendish foe is still partly there, and Samus is stuck in the taking damage pallate/state/whatever. Weird!

Hiroshi Mishima

Sygnus, please reduce the size of your pictures, they don't need to be that huge. Also...
If you kill Metroids with a regular beam or power bomb, they do leave behind their shells.
Tyjet:
Insofar as I can recall, the only item during "endgame" is the last Energy Tank. However, I believe Crys said there is a second Charge Beam in case you get there without finding it... like I did when I first played it. :p I am also curious about those specific doors cause I don't know where they lead. Insofar as I know, they don't go anywhere, though.
There is the E-tank and charge beam (for me). I'm half tempted to just check those two doors in SMILE...
EDIT: Crys is a genius and changed the rom to PAL so I can't open it...

sygnus2

Crashed in that room after the lava chozo trigger (which didn't work by the way), like many others itt it appears. Running bsnes on my end, so it looks like a programming, not emulation error. Can't figure out for the life of me what it could be though, so good luck if you try to fix it!

Crashtour99

Tyjet:
For charge beam, try checking the area you defeated Phantoon in.
As far as those pics...
The first door I'm pretty sure leads FROM Crocomire, so until you defeat him it won't open.
The second door, I have no clue.
The 3rd pic I'm pretty sure is just an easter egg, something most people probably won't see.
