For all these questions about statues and states, I must say that I have been working on the exact same thing for quite a while.  And the answer is no, you can not make them act EXACTLY as they did in the original game with the bridge.  And dang it, you just motivated me to actually work on Super Mission again.

squishy_ichigo

Sure you can! :awesome:

the NES was made before the SNES... anything possible on that relic is possible on the SNES.

It just takes alittle bit of work thats all. :P

I already offered to look into the statue thing for Tbolt.  No promises on it though.

Phazar

I remember back when you looked into it when I was attempting that, and ironically, a 100% good idea for it didn't come to me until right now!  Looks like I better start hacking again before I lose it to amnesia!

Scyzer

Well, I don't know how you could make the statues open like they do while in the room (thinking of ZM here, cause I never finished the original Metroid), but it would be easy to make the level design change while in the room based on what bosses have been destroyed. It's just that you'd need 4 different versions of the room (1 for no bosses, 1 for ridley, 1 for kraid, 1 for both), assuming you can beat them in any order.

I have redone kraids room  tell me what you think
Now it's looking awesome!

Talking about statues, I'm thinking of drained enemies in new Tourian. They will turn into sand when you shoot them. But 2 drained enemies should be added to the game

As long as you can't walljump it's totally cool. =)

Malpercio

No walljumping? bah. i didnt bother with the stupid platforms either during the escape or way at the beginning of the game.
I think that recreating the original escape shaft would be really cool too. if you want to block waljumping tho, i think i remember seeing a doc on how to do it on the main site

Heres the deal.  The escape shaft  I made has all the fixings.  Explosions  shaking  flashing lights  everything you need to tell you to get the hell out of there quickly  What im doing now  is going through the rooms that i think were rushed and redoing them.  Like that room that JAM said was before ridley.  It is not. Its the room just to the right of the entrance elevator to ridleys hideout.  Heres some rooms I have redone.

Haha! I was wondering when those doors would be converted to the classic look.

justawhitelie

OUCH. that jump room looks hard as hell. And I have been playing metroid since I was like 6.

tbolt76

Sorry i havent been around for awhile just got done with surgery.  Im going to start enemy placement in all the old areas  and then get to maridia  and wrecked ship as soon as the modern version is done  ill start on the retro version.   Plus redoing all the rooms  im not happy with  and the old escape shaft  well if you are very clever and explore like heck  theres an item that will make that shaft a walk iin the park!

FullOfFail

Hope everything's ok with you. Keep us updated when you make more. I was wondering what was going on with your project, but this place has been so dead lately that I thought people was just not posting as much anymore.

gunnargumpert

this game will be pretty awsome, if you work with the palettes:

you are using perfect tiles, but the palettes aren't used fully.

you maybe can smoth the colors a bit more.

that yould be cool. but it looks AWSOME. realy, it's so good

Silver Skree

That room is so plain I think my computer is going to turn beige any second now.

X-tradyte

You might wanna remove some weeds, take off the upside down weeds and give it some spice.

tbolt76

Its just a idea  i dont know how to spice it up yet

X-tradyte

Thats fine, as you gradually finish your hack, that you can touch up. That'd be ok to do but, its your hack do whatcha want.

JAM

Ah, Maridia in Metroid 1 style. Looking interesting... Colors are good.
What I see is small tile error (that one with 5 bubbles in it). Down left 8*8 tile must be flipped horizontally

stat!k

i like the new maridia, i dont think its too plain, this is a  metorid 1 remake after all

personitis

Looks cool. Personally I wouldn't fill the bottom of platforms with the grass but instead spread the grass out underneath each platform for good NesTroid detail.

tbolt76

Bad news everyone  due to unforseen events I have to start all over again on old school.  but since now i know alot more about  smile  i think i can do a faster and better job this time around.  ill keep you posted
