Could you implement Phazon Particle map rooms somewhere in Craigsolus / Sewers?  You have map rooms for pretty much everything else  :^_^: I gave up on looking for particles after finding them all the other areas, because now I don't know which of the two areas to focus on (which I've thoroughly searched already).

I became permastuck in the top right of green tetrafuse, where you run to the right and fall through the speed boost blocks.  Its pretty easy to get stuck in that box (someone posted a screenshot of it before).

Loved this hack!  I didn't get a chance to try doing as you suggested yet to get into that area in the Phazon Mine

high jump boots only, then moch ball

Can i have another clue

Corruptor

Finally beat this last night, and it was beast, that enemy with the blue circle and little mini-metroid in it was a pain in the ars to kill! But this was really fun! How could you possible improve this anymore?! Redmonkey, you should talk to this guy called Nitroflasher, I don't personally know him, but he's working on this project called megaman x corrupted, and the music he's made is AWESOME, you should see if he'd be willing to get into this and help you make new music for Super Metroid, I'm sure he'd be great at it. Just a suggestion you know.

Black Falcon

Got 78%.
I've spent most of the time standing at those healing stations...
Also found alot of Phazon particles on my way (which are really well hidden), but I'm not done at all finding all of them, so I guess I'll keep playing...
Loved your graphics and sprites. Playing as Dark Samus really gives a change to metroid hacking.
Bosses were tough, but not too hard.
IMO those robots had way too much health (or I just didn't pick up the right weapon...), but that's just me.
Also liked the idea of that ship being a central spot, helping you to travel between the areas more quickly, instead of walking through thousands of rooms until you reached your next destination.
All in all Phazon 0.3 is one of the best hacks out there IMO. Lots of creativity, lots of new graphics, lots of fun.
I expect your next upcoming hack(s) to be even better, but I'm sure you can do it with ease.  :yay:

QuoteI've spent most of the time standing at those healing stations...
i set those up that way so the most skilled players would just skip them. i dont think im skilled enough to skip the health stations, good thing for the turbo button.

QuoteIMO those robots had way too much health (or I just didn't pick up the right weapon...), but that's just me.
i tried to get more use out of missiles, but nobody likes this change so i'll change it back for SMPh 0.3.5

i hope MPE turns out better than Phazon. we have full LH group effort going into MPE, maybe more if we change our group name back to the LP name and logo.

SMPh music will be changed in v0.4(Super Metroid Phazon Beta)

Prime Hunter

Just finished my first run of 0.3, second overall for Phazon as a whole. 05:58, 54%

From a technical standpoint, this hack has no equal. There are so many elements added in on top of the base game. It's insane how much quality and effort went into this. That goes aesthetically as well, although I feel like there are some minor elements that don't mesh quite as well with the rest of the environment at this point in time. (Could swear you said you're going to fully remake the graphics eventually so I'm guessing when that happens it'll mesh much better.) But I'd call this one of the best looking hacks so far despite that.

While there are still some design choices I don't agree with, such as blocking off Red Phazon if you either skip it or miss where it is, for the most part I can look past them due to how well the rest of the game flows.  I'd argue that the difficulty of the enemies and bosses varied a bit too much at times. Some were a breeze by the time you face them but most felt like they were simply there to eat up my ammo. Most beam combinations didn't feel powerful enough at all, something I remember feeling with 0.1. (You can add me to the list of people who hate how much health those robots have by the way.)

I love the map system in this as well. It gives enough of a hint as to where to go, but you still have to explore in order to get to the destination and that might not always be straightforward. Same with the Valkyrie Gears too. I feel like I found those relatively easily once I knew their general location from the map even with how vague the map points might be at times. Best of both worlds for those looking for a hint system like the Prime games and for those who want the old school Metroid experience. I'd say you nailed that balance almost perfectly.

Phazon remains one of my favorites, especially after seeing how much it evolved over the last few years between versions. It's hard to compete against this level of quality throughout the entire game experience. Can't wait to see what else is in store for this one and anything else you work on!

So... long time lurker but finally signed up.

This is the best hack I have ever played. I always liked Redesign the most, but i disliked the fact that you needed TASing for 100% completition. So this is my most favorite hack. Anyways, I have to say 4 things.

1) Are these rooms that show how many Phazon-Particles you collected still in that hack? [I never saw one, but I still haven't finished the game] (7 Valkyrie pieces and all key-Items so far.) Also: What do they do? Do they add up to your %?

2) The map messes up from time to time. I've read that it should be fixed, but it isn't fixed 100%. Most of the time the maps of each sector will reset the bottom part, and the warp-zone map also clears up. Additionally, you can't scroll the map. It is stuck in some sectors.

3) The middle one of the 3 big rooms in Tetrafuse has 2 map-squares that you can not reach.

4) I found a bug which cost me ~1 hour of gametime because I only save on savestations.
In the Phazon-Mines, in the Room where the Missile-container is, where you need to mockball through the 2 quick closing gates. When you go through this door, and spinjump into that blue crystal-enemy, the screen turns black, and the game crashes. I tried it with and without Space Jump & Screw Attack. It crashed everytime when I spinjumped into that enemy.

Btw, how do I hide images with spoiler-tags?

Zhs2

Like that.

The map rooms are still there. Phazon particles cause you to heal faster, and if you get them all...!

Hasn't happened to me. Try the latest patch, it might fix most of your other problems save for map fun. Make sure it's an unheadered NTSC rom and all that.

Okay, I have to find these rooms then. =P

I had an unheadered NTSC_Rom, and stuff, and play on Snes9x 1.51. It should be the latest patch, cuz I downloaded the 3.0 version 2 days ago.
I am very sure that this didn't happen when I was in the room for the first time, but with Screw Attack and Space Jump in the lategame, it happened.

I just attached a savestate, that you can check for yourself. Maybe it's an emulator based bug if everything is fine at you.

BTW: Finished the game a few minutes ago with 88%. YAY

Nothing in redesign requires tool-assistance.  There are shortcuts that can be made with tool-assistance, but everything in the game can be reached normally, even if they are longer, tougher routes.  In particular, the Maridia sparks are a pain.

Finished the game a 2nd time now. I yesterday just escaped from the Ridley-room without even noticing that this is the Ridley-room. Just saw him spawn this time, and well... you should definitely fix that you can escape his room. =P
Btw, you can Plasma[light] X-ray bug the last boss, well... Draygon shouldn't be that easy. =P

There is a "Particle Map" room in Omniom Drifts, Tetrafuse and the Phazon Mine. After running around and checking the map rooms again and again, I eventually found all the particles in those areas.

However, there is not a particle map room in the Sewers or in Kragsolous. I've spent a couple hours in those areas just looking for the last particles with no success.

I'm guessing I have one, maybe two more particles to find. I can say with confidence that I shot and scanned literally every surface in those areas, and attempted to morphball into practically every wall.

Just a heads up that you will likely be banging your head against the wall when you get as far as I have  :heheh:

A_red_monk_called_Key

i have to clear some things up
QuoteHowever, there is not a particle map room in the Sewers or in Kragsolous.
there is a particle map in every area

and the phazon particles do not change the rate of healing. its the phazon armor that changes the rate of healing.

I'll have to try again then! I'm really surprised that I didn't find them yet... and I was thrown off by them not being illustrated on the map you provided (I know it says "only 97% of rooms shown)

Thanks for the clarification  :yay:

**EDIT** yeah! Found the map room in Cragsolus :)

**EDIT** yay! Found em all :)

Yes, through the way you came in.

A_red_monk_called_Key

i fixed that and the door at the end, and posted it ant the first post of this thread. dose the patch say 0.3.2 or do i need to repost it?

Necro

It says 3.0 as far as I can tell

danidub

The original game was pretty good but this version is awesome.
My 0.3 map, with about 95% of the items is now on Map Station.

Necro

So... my equipment atm is 230 S-Missile, 50 P-Missile, 50 Power Bomb and all "standard items" with
Screw Attack
.

My question:
Where the 2 White Torizos the secret Boss? Meaning Screw Attack is the 101%th item? or Did I miss a boss? / special Item. If answer is No: Do I find the secret boss when I have all Phanzon Particles? Don't say who/what it is, just answer with yes / no
Still haven't found any of those Phazon-Particle map rooms... Any hints for me?
=( Nevermind, found a few of them... no X-Raying is cruel.

danidub

Didn't found any of the phazon particle map and only have 20 power bombs.
I think I will need some help to complete my map.

The Phazon Particle Map rooms...
There is one for each area, 5 total.  They each require morphballing against the wall to find them (some require mid-air morph). They hint how many particles are left in each area, but do not clue to their locations.
metroid-hunter90

Can someone help me. I cant get this to run on the Zsnes and the ROM is patched it just crashes!

Smiley

Is your ROM headered or unheadered? What version is it? Did you use a clean (unmodified) ROM? What version is your Zsnes?
There are lots of things that can cause hacks to not work, so some more information is required before anyone can help you.

metroid-hunter90

Its a .smc rom and im using Zsnes 1.51. Applied the patch with Lunar IPS and when I try to open it up the emulator crashes :/
