Don't you just love it when people come up with simple but difficult, timing-related puzzles which involve Reflecs, Shutters, a missile gate and rising acid? :razz:

After much support from DSO, my tinkering with the transparency effect is finally paying off.  The blue to black background can be ignored.  It happens because there are currently no tiles there.

Transparency Effect in Super Metroid

A little more work, and it should be ready to implement. :^_^:

First complete room of my Smile learning...ness.
Default state has white fog, Crateria is ALIVE state has no FX1.
SBugs in both until I figure out how to get to get it to let me have different enemies in state 2.

Edit: Yay for tile error. Spotted it after the upload.

It could use some better palette gunnar, especially if you're gonna "layer" it so to speak.

Also, I suggest making the main ground a bit more alien, I'm so sick of earth look a like palettes, this is a freaking alien planet. Hell, zebes even had acid rain if you read the lore and shit.

Earth has acid rain too. Not actually "melting" type acid rain.

Anyhow, Nice tileset Gunnar. But like Crys said, could use palette work.

well, the 1/2 slope is painted by me - cut it out from both pictrures and you'll se 1000 of differences.

and the spikes aren't stolen, no, that's a repaintet tile from the wreecked ship

the small "bombblocks" and so on are just an improvisatrion

All in all: I didn't look at Drewsephs Tileset for Month. Mine is a bit more usfull, becaus you can uxe it over the palette blendning limits. also, there are about the double of drewsephs tiles - how could that remember you of Drewseph's Tileset?

and also, a few things are a bit better than drewsephs set:
can you see the small block for the gray tube? drews block is green (at the part, where it should be green), because he didn't repaint it.
i also have 2 slope blocks for the grey tube. a tube, comin out of a slope - i find, that idea is the best i aver had so far.

Well, i already have used the totaly palette limits, so i'll have to repaint the "acid" ( :wink:)

that'll be hell of work.

Mind, I meant to repaint the already existing palettes to something else, not add more.

I think I've asked this before, but from time to time a get a creeping feeling that this level is a bit too dark and bleak. There is some color variation throughout the level this appears in, but overall the whole level is about this dark. Am I putting too much black on the screen here?

No, the room is perfect, when going for that dark green them like you do there, it's just about the right amount of black.

I can see it being a problem with those bright enemies though, they and samus are gonna stick out like a sore thumb.  If there is a way to swap out the palettes for darker ones for those rooms, then it would work.

Other than that, great stuff as always, keep it up! :D
