Having a map of Golden Dawn, having done route preparations for a TAS of it, remembering a lot of rooms and progression order pretty well and having the hack opened in SMILE currently, I would suggest the following rooms as suitable for adding save stations into them:
1. 7A1D8 (in Brinstar, before Bomb Torizo, at around 2/3 point into the first loop).
2. 7B026 (a bit early into the Crocomire loop which is the 3rd loop, with the 2nd loop being the loop for Highjump)
And this could be a bonus location for a savestation, but otherwise, the next location a bit further into the Crocomire loop should be more suitable:

Then there'd be 2 similarly useful locations for the next savestation:
4. 79C89
5. 79C35
As next room, a suggestion would be:
6. 79FE5 (it has some flying bugs in it though)
And if that room isn't used, the next best one should be:
7. 7968F (right before Spore Spawn to which the Crocomire loop continues)
And if this one isn't used, there would be the first room in Wrecked Ship with the elevator in it:
8. 794CC
9. 7AD1B (is where Speedbooster is, right after Phantoon, and is maybe a bit an odd choice for a save room, but it is an option)
Instead of at Speedbooster, one might aswell take this place a bit further ahead again at an elevator:
10. 7962A
11. 79938 (could be used and is at yet another elevator)
But if that one isn't taken, then this one could substitute it with:

My next suggestion would be yet another 1 by 1 room with an elevator (and those rooms are kind of pre-destinated since they usually constitute suitable environments that are small rooms usually without enemies, and introduce the player to the start of a new area):

Finally there would be 2 more suggestions for the end-game area:
14. 7DDC4 (right before Draygon, a long empty hall)
15. 7D433 (at the bottom of the final area)

Good amount of loop points the player would pass through.

I'll compare to what info I gathered.

Top of my head I decided on the room after draygon.
Probably since I picked a save for the wrecked ship.
It'd be after spore spawn, then having to kill phantoon.

Video showed a pass near that save on the way to draygon.
It is a considerable distance though...

I'll compare the rooms & post back.
Also, I'll do elevator & door bits so the map saves.
There's the cre bug with rooms after kraid as well.

If I'm doing door bits I'll fix those & the save station hi-bytes for unknown as well.
Maybe same check on some other old hacks that could use a minor touch up...

So here's some golden dawn data. Looks like seven well placed saves will suffice.

My decisions were based on not having to edit a single tile, just drop in some save points.
Not a bunch to completely break the difficulty, just barely enough to struggle through.

I marked very close saves with different amounts of asterisks, [**] needs special attention.

Here's dependence data. I guess there were three existing save rooms, my bad.

Well there's three additional save locations I gathered.
Nah, it's two for another hell run.

But then maybe one cause mid wreckedship isn't too bad.

But really just zero cause the far left elevator in crateria doesn't really need a patch for it.

I only remembered where the ice beam was, must not have played in a long time.

So maybe pantheon next? I got failsafe code so save stations won't work when the timer is running.

Looked into pantheon, one part of brinstar gets hit after a miniboss & three bosses.
Then one in norfair would be good for some late game business.

But my intentions are a public patch, so maybe just a group decision on golden dawn.
Also gives me the idea of finding the jump to the save plm & just disabling them for every hack.
So you can destroy any of your favorite planets if you remember where you parked the ship.

Yeah, but @ 02376B, you can change that 90 B5 to an 8F B5, which is now just a pointer to an rts.

Totally untested gameplay wise, I hope it takes all day just to die an inch from the ship.
It was just for my first upgrade, one damn missile.

That's not mass appeal, nobody likes this game, you're going the wrong way.

Eugh. Golden Dawn's gotta be one of the worst fullhacks available... What would save stations possibly change? Are you gonna put one in every room barely visible in the corner of the screen so you can get a semblance of which unmarked wall can be bombed?

Both hacks are apparently pretty bad, but I'd still like the play them on console without the need for savestates just so I can experience them properly. I appreciate the work in adding in save stations.

All I'm thinking with golden dawn is I just made it through the eternal hall.
There's a nice row of spikes with an e-tank at the end of it.

What poor bastard rolled through that many spikes, & left his last tank of energy there?
Should have saved it & got out, I don't want it now.

I'm not looking to put a save station every other room & take away from the difficulty.
Just a small amount, along with the door & elevator bits so the map saves properly.
Another one I would want to do is mockingbird station.

There's tons of trash hacks that I enjoy playing.
If it's not a vanilla map hack with a few spikes thrown in, I'll enjoy it.

If it's just for me, then consider the patch already done, it's not like that though.
I don't have any flash carts, I get everything on my psp, almost the same controller, no save states.
I also have my superpatch, but that's something I can add to any hack after it's done with development.

The metroid community comes first, the engine was created, the tools were made public.
Dedicated players & hackers who invested their time trying to improve the overall experience.
I don't want to just come in & try to rewrite what is super metroid.

I'm just trying to enhance the core, less nintendo fanboy hype, more hardcore federation tasks.
Not for me, for the the super metroid underground.

I mean it's that or dark souls...

Any room suggestions though, maybe other hacks?
I'll dust off the collection & do some minor improvements.

All those old half hacks need some new elevator bits, your flash cart would do better with a working map.
I don't want to make the decisions, I didn't make the hacks, I got time & experience though.
An hour or two a hack, just making sure everything flows better, you gotta give me some data though.

I'm just gona go for it, I know their not impressive hacks, but I still enjoy them.
Doing a map for mockingbird too, just one discrepancy with a misaligned room connection.
Expect an odd map piece, kinda shaped like a 2.

Idk, they turned me off the first few tries, maybe this will make them more interesting...
