Remote Gates With H/V copy

Im having some trouble creating remote gates. Is there any way to trigger the C82A (normal closed gate) with H and V copy blocks?

Ive been reading this bit from the Mod Manual

"OPTIONAL: H/V-copy blocks can be used to create remote door switches. Blue door caps themselves being shootable works because of V-copy blocks. The shot block with the red 41 on it in the screenshot below needs to be shot or bombed by Samus in order to trigger the door opening sequence, so we can easily just make straight paths going from the 41 by Ctrl(hold) + Left-click(hold) + dragging from it in straight lines, then getting rid of all but the turning and end points:

It's important that Samus is able to shoot/bomb ONLY the blue door switch, or the blue door cap itself, to cause the door to open. I did this by routing the H/V-copies straight up from the shot block with BTS 41 to the very top of the room, then straight right until directly above the blue switch, then straight down onto the blue switch itself. Because Samus is in a hallway, none of her weapons will affect the very top unseen row of tiles on the current screen, giving us a perfectly functional remote door switch! This also works with red/green/yellow doors."

I usually place the tile from the CRE set that matches the switch color of the PLM in the new location where I want the H and V-copy tiles to act as a trigger, for a visual. Then, the tile I drew will be at the end of a set of h and V-copy tiles that lead out from the original PLM switch.

You still need the original switch to attach to the gate in order for the H and v copy tiles to activate it. Like so:
QuoteV          H

GS        V
G

G

edit - drawn incorrectly above, should look like so:
  V        H

GS        V
G
G
G
G
Where G is the gate, S is the switch, and H and V are copy tiles leading OUT from the switch, rather than leading back to the switch.

From Moehr's Description, I copy it from the S, and not the G. From memory, I didn't think it worked from the G but I could be wrong, Try it my way if it doesn't work Moehr's way. I know it works for sure from the S.

Thanks! i think i understand but can someone post a picture because i am missing something. It still doesn't work, but i get the idea.

Try this. I've taken a shot of the room in-game, and overlaid what it looks like in RF. :^_^:

To clarify the method here: Yes, you need to copy the properties from the actual switch, not the gate. In RF, you just draw whatever tiles you want to go where, place your cursor on the tile where the switch will be located in-game (on my picture above, my cursor was below the number 01 nearest the gate), hold Ctrl, click and hold the left mouse button, then draw along the path you want the switch properties to lead until you reach your switch.[/spoiler]

(Apologies for the slightly blurred numbers. My emu was not cooperating.)

you should start the copying tiles from the switch (where you shoot it) and not the gate, so start it one tile more to the left if it is a left switch or one more tile to the right if it is a right switch, you currently have the starting point in the middle of the 2 options, won't work this way.

thanks, It worked. Is there any way to stop wave beam from going through something? i dont want wave beam to trigger these blocks.

Put enemies around the blocks.
Also worth noting is that if you fill in the entire "snake" with hcopy/vcopy blocks, then *all of them* will act like the switch. You really only need the essential corner tiles, like so:

Yeah, that's also detailed in the mod manual. :^_^:

Yeah, sorry, my diagram had the tiles drawn from the G, but it should be the S! Fixed it in original post. If you draw from the gae, you'll get the thing I'm using where you have a solid wall that opens when the gate is open.
