[SM]Changing Ridley's palette?

I've changed the palette for Ridley in the enemy editor in SMILE, but in-game he looks the same. I even noticed a second Ridley-looking enemy in the next place in the list, changed that one for good measure too. No change. How do I make him pretty? Does this have to do with the way he fades into the fight? Does he share his palette with the room, or what?

FYI, the E1BF enemy is Ridley's explosion (I think...). Looking through Kej's docs, seems that $A6:E46A holds Ridley's palette data depending on how his health decreases (see $A6:D474 if you want to tweak those values btw). His starting palette I think is $A6:E43E (it's around there)

It turns out that the fade-in has it's set of palettes, too. Tons of palettes here. Thanks to your tip, Ridley is starting to look dope. Much obliged.
