Hi, As I am finished with my game I need some beta testers.

Snapshots are below for the curious.

There is one little issue with my game as it has 3 difficulty mode versions (easy, normal and Hard), so I need the interested beta testers to chose between the 3 on which mode you want to test.
I don't know how many people will want to do the hard version as it is very very hard, fingers crossed. I may have to do the hard version based on what I get out of the normal and easy...

Please PM me if you are interested.

Note for the beta testers, there are some rooms in the game that really need to be touched up, some dramatically, I'm talking about the level design in these rooms in relation to decoration and how good they look, however since I will have nothing to do on the game for so long, I will be making these rooms look better during the period it takes the beta testers to beta test...

I have been working on Metroid Mission Rescue since August-09-2011 and it is finally done. Stack loads of patches have been used in this game and have all been very useful, especially JAM's Patches, good on you JAM!!!!

I've put together a manual too, so people can just print it out and put it together with something like staples...

RELEASE DATE = 17th AUGUST 2015

Any chat/talk about the game is most welcome...

Cheers...

EDIT: Just thought I'd let everyone know, I have enough beta testers now and thankyou to all of the ones that are beta testing...

EDIT2: Sorry to say that I had to postpone/delay the release date as I've added an extra feature to the game and took up a few weeks of my time in order to improve on the game in regards to feedback from fellow beta testers. Feature is added now, but still have to finish repolishing as that had been put on hold while doing new feature. Last day of August is the new release date and I really doubt it will be delayed any longer...Cheers...

EDIT3: Luckily for those who are waiting patiently for this hack, I realised I had far less rooms to polish than I thought there was. As I toggled through the rest of the rooms in the mdb list, there were lots of rooms not needing doing, so I am putting the release date back to the 17th of August as it is also fine with all my beta testers...

Oh my. This's really exciting to drop outta nowhere. 2015 is going to be quite the year.

ANOTHER one?! Nice. Can't wait! I'd beta but I just have no time to spare. Good luck!

Cpt.Glitch

Hmm looks interesting. Good luck with it!

Mettyk25jigsaw

Thanks guys for the positive comments and encouragement, tomorrow I am going to start on making some rooms that are needing touching up in level design, I should be able to have all rooms touched up that's needing it by the time August 17 comes around, along with any changes the betas may find to errors/improvements...
I am still willing to take on 2 more betas if there are anymore interested...
I thought I'd let you know that this is my first hack ever in any type of game that I've done...That's why some of the rooms early in my game need touching up, but overall, I hope people will like it...

Is there a set schedule when the beta testers have to report their findings?
I would like to be one, but can't guarantee that I will have enough time due to work.
Can I still be a beta tester? I will certainly take my time playing it and try pointing out things I notice during me playing through it, but the time where I report things might be inconsistent, that's what I meant.

Otherwise, looks interesting.
Regardless, I will be looking forward further updates of yours pertaining this romhack. :^_^:

Mettyk25jigsaw

Yeah, you can be a beta tester, if you don't have enough time to play all the way through, just give me the reports on which you find during the length you do play.

And yes, I would like the reports sent to me around 7 to 10 days before release date (17th August) by preference but if you want to send me a bit here and a bit there every now and then, then it's perfectly ok, just whichever way 'you' prefer...

And thankyou very much for your offer, Just PM Me if you are still interested, and I will post the stuff to you...

Also I plan on uploading a video via youtube over the next week or 2, showing it in action. But to all viewers keep in mind that any rooms that are plain and ordinary shouldn't be the case when it is released because I would not have the 'polishing up' with level design done all the way through by then. But in saying that, there are a lot of rooms that are really good, and also for the interested the game has 699 rooms. 700? Missed it by '-' that much...

It's a honor for me that you've used a lot of my patches. Posts like you make me motivated to work on the new stuff. Thank you! It's really good to me when I see my patches to be used in hacks.

Please, make a good hack. I've dreamed to a see a hack with so many rooms.

JAM:
Your welcome JAM, you actually have a lot of good patches, there were a couple more I would have liked to implement but weren't compatible with some other patches (well I assume that is the case), they worked on an original rom anyway.
As a motivator, or you could call it a bribe if you want, to play my game, I used one of Jathy's patches called Credit sheet and I lengthened the time it shows on screen (as Default only lasts about 3 seconds, but extended in mine), in case you're unaware of what it does, it adds additional credits towards the backend of end of game credits, but I am guessing you are already aware of that. However, it has your name up there and you will find out all of the patches I used of yours at the very end of my game.

TO ALL:
Anyway this note is for all who is reading. As I promised, polishing up certain rooms has started on the ones that need doing as of today and is going well, it's a tedious job, but I have a lot of patience with this type of thing and since I don't have a lot of work to do with anything else while betas are testing, this is the best opportunity to do it.

Mettyk25jigsaw

Just thought I'd let everyone know, I have enough beta testers now and thankyou to all of the ones that are beta testing...

RealRed

699 rooms? Holy crap. So this is like, big enough to make redesign look small?

Mettyk25jigsaw

Real Red:

I suppose you could say that, I'm not sure how many redesign has, I'm guessing 500, however redesign really only has 5 worlds if you exclude the one or two rooms in lost caverns which is probably done via the wrecked ship. Mine has 8 worlds...However each world in my hack on average is probably about as large or a little bigger as the average in redesign. But it takes up a lot more hours to play right through, I think I finished the game several weeks ago somewhere around 60 hours from memory.
So the extra 3 worlds in my game probably is why there are quite a few more rooms in mine over redesign...

Quietus

And it'll take so long for the first 100%, scanning every room, that we'll all come out of it with full beards (or hairy legs for the ladies) after weeks of play.

Mettyk25jigsaw

You might end up with long curly fingernails and toenails too.

Digital_Mantra

60 hours? We officially have a SM RPG now.

Quietus

Mettyk25jigsaw

This might find funny, but what is SMRPG?

Digital_Mantra

I said a Super Metroid RPG based on time to complete, Queitus pointed out that SM RPG is the same as Super Mario RPG by squaresoft.

Super Metroid RPG Legend of the 7 8 regions.

Quietus

Yeah, I was just abusing the initials, as it so conveniently happens to be the name of that hack. :heheh:

Mettyk25jigsaw

Oh, ok. I should really get back into those Mario Super Nintendo games, they were awesome. Mario is my second favourite game after Metroid. I probably like Metroid too much though to start a hack on Mario games, but maybe one day, I'll just have to play them for now...

Hi, Here's a video link showing a small portion of game in play, it shows portions of 3 worlds. It goes for 11 minutes, if you think 11 minutes is too much to spoil for you, just skip bits...

Video recording is a little wonky at places, but doesn't really interfere...

https://youtu.be/wIQXvhkOXy4

EDIT: Update video posted about 9 posts down...

Quietus

There's some funky tiling going on in some parts, but overall it looks OK. :^_^:

Dynastyx

I got to say, the first area showed had a weird tile set and doors in general look a bit...bland? Other than that, rooms design looks interesting and the beam switching looks pretty cool!

Also, the teleporter thingy looks pretty cool, makes backtracking a lot less painful in hacks with lots of rooms.

Vismund Cygnus

The strange swaying of the camera was really irritating throughout the video.
Also, oh my lord, that first area, I'm not sure my eyes will ever recover from the trauma that is viewing that palette.  :pale:

From everything I've heard, it sounds promising, but judging by what I've seen, I am also so very, very sceptical.

But hey, let's wait until it's released before we start making biased opinions!
