Hang on Drewseph, I haven't beaten the game yet, from what I've seen on this thread, Tourian is gonna be a blast!

its right under your nose.  just go refill your energy and ammo, and then explore.
I see what you did there.

Thanks for all of your help.
But...

I've got another problem: I can't get to Kraid, because Power Bombs don't destroy shot-blocks.

I've tried nearly everything, including using the Ice Beam SBA, but to no avail. I can't destroy the shot blocks to proceed. And I can't exactly get Wave Beam either...

Drewseph

is this your first time playing redesign? (Axeil)

if so I suggest you put this run aside and play normally at least once.  there will be certain things you can't do in the EPBC.  Thats why its a challenge.

What? No, I stated earlier that I already beat it (Axeil). And I remember the original way to Kraid, but I can't get to him due to the inability to break shot-blocks in Morph Ball.

So what, do I skip Kraid? :pwuh:

My god, and seriously, holy shit Drewseph! That hack was the ride of a lifetime!! I had so much fun!! But I'll save all my reasons as to why I HIGHLY recommend this hack to everyone for the review, right now, I want to share my final moments with Redesign Axeil, because oh boy, this hack went out with a bang! Literally!!
I escaped Zebes alive, and MAN do I have a story to tell you!

First of all, I had read you wanted Tourian to be a Space Pirate base on lock down, and I can safely say you nailed that perfectly! The whole place felt really confined, and I hardly felt that I could breathe there at all, and good god those laser gates!! Instant death!! Their puzzle was also very well thought out and cleverly implemented!! I also really like how you filled the place with Zebesian Space Pirates; really goes to show that they work for both Ridley and Mother Brain.

I never thought I'd see the Zebes hatches like this... these Morph Ball tunnels were really zany!

Not gonna say anything about Mother Brain, as it's unchanged from the original pretty much, aside from STRIPPING YOU OF ALL YOUR POWERS!! Mother of god! This also happened in the original Redesign. And even though it seems a bit excessive on the outset (and impossible because Metroid: Other M retcons Samus losing her powers at the end) it perfectly ties to set up the tension of the HEART STOPPING ESCAPE SEQUENCE!! HOLY CRAP!! It was crazy frantic, and my heart was pounding out of my chest the whole time! And it got even worse when I tried to rescue the Etecoons and Dachora, my escape came down to the wire!

I honestly was terrified at the thought of not escaping in time! It was that close!!

All and all, it was a great ride from start to finish, and this is definitely not the last time I'm playing this rom hack, but for now, I think I'm just gonna relax, play some Smash Wii U, watch some Team Umizoomi, and crash in bed.

Here are my ending statistics.

Well, that about wraps it up Drewseph, hope you liked this, and to finish this all off...

May we all pray for true peace in space...
Take care of yourself and have a good night. :^_^:

EPB help
Am I supposed to get speed booster after varia, or wave beam lol? Im trying to make the boost over the grapple lava pit to speed booster but I can't seem to pull it off, do I have to freeze climb to get wave instead?
Hell run was intense, but now I'm pro at it.
Lol edit never mind I got it

Edit again,
I got to grapple EPB, I sparked through to lower norfair right away and went to the saver that's  below a couple rooms, I can't jump out of the hole with the save to go back and no enemies here give any health. A extra block to jump off or a enemies to ice jump from would be cool Lol, I don't have high jump yet, not sure if I need to go through lower norfair to get back up yet, having a lot of fun with this, highly recommend for console play!
Wait, I got that point and have the x-ray visor. Is that shot block gone? I know you did that to the shot block under the Brinstar elevator. O_O

So far in EPB, I got the high jump boots and managed to collect 10 energy tanks. I imagine I'm supposed to go to Maridia, but I don't know any open way in. I have 115 missiles, 15 Supers, and 15 power bombs so far. Oh, and one reserve tank. X)

As ridiculously difficult as this run is, I'm having a lot of fun learning my way around this particularly blockaded Zebes.

Someone is confused, and I'm not sure if it's me or you... That picture wasn't taken at the Brinstar elevator, it was taken in the first entrance room to Kraid's boss room.

Which comes to the question: if you're so far ahead in the EPB run, how did you get to Kraid? Do I have to beat him at all? I'm really stuck here. I've even opened the rooms up in SMILE, but I couldn't find anything.
My current progress in the EPB run:

If you scroll the screen down while its loading fanfare you can scroll samus offscreen where she dies. im still on 1.3 if that matters

This EPB stuff is getting gnarly, though i think ive hit a point where i might be stuck
Ridley :o(
heres what i have

Am i missing any etanks or a better path to get back to highjump?
Oops. Didn't mean to say blocked...

Edit: I am an idiot.
I used a super missile to knock one of those goggly-eyed enemies off of its platform, which I used to ice-jumped my way up the shaft...
I'm still just a bit confused as to what item I get next.

Drewseph

you need to enter Tourian. but you need a certain item to do so. you need an item to get that item, but you need another item to get to where that item is. so, go get that item.

Hitaka

Drew neglected to mention this so I will. There's been an update to change the way acid damage worked. Now instead of doing massive energy damage, it does normal damage and kills you in five seconds by doing suit integrity damage, indicated by the alarm beeping and speed of Samus's flashing. You recover after a couple seconds out of acid. It's still v1.4 but redownload it anyway for this update.

Managed to find a way into Crateria Depths, and am probably on my way to where I need to go. Some nasty permastuck you've made on that path in epb, though.

EDIT: Made it to Tourian! This has been an intense journey. X)

M1CR0H4CK3R

Beat it! Tourian was something else, I tell you!

Now it's time to try to beat it faster!  :heheh:

Boo, Sad news, the warping BG effect doesn't work well with the BG tiles, it makes them look like they are moving up instead or rippling in-heat.  also the heat glow doesn't work in tourian :(

This makes me sad, but at least you tried, man.

Rovaen

So I'm having some problems upon startup.

I had no problem when I patched the same vanilla rom for super metroid hyper hack
I tried patching a headered and non headered ver or super metroid JU (and downloaded from multiple dif sources, all the same results)
using Zsnes 1.42
OS win 7

what did I do?

I don't think ZSNES 1.42 will work with Super Metroid Redesign: Axeil Edition. My only suggestion(s) is to use ZSNES 1.36 or ZSNES 1.51.

The Envoy of the Beginning

Better yet: stop using ZSNES. Period. I don't know why people still hold on to that emulator (outside of sentimental attachment to it). Use Higan or even Snes9x 1.53 instead.

I don't think any emulator is better than ZSNES, and vice versa. I think it narrows down to personal preference.
I've been using ZSNES for every SM hack I ever played, and I haven't had any problems with it.
I once tried using Snes9x, but I just personally disliked it. :bounce:

Zero One

I think SNES9x is better than ZSNES because it straight-up is. ZSNES is slow, outdated and doesn't even emulate accurately, whereas SNES9x suffers from exactly none of those problems. If you personally disliked it, fair enough, but there's a pretty good chance simply switching will solve things.

Quietus

I've always stuck with ZSNES because of its rewind feature, but that's now included in the likes of BizHawk, so I may end up finally moving on. :^_^:
