glad you are having fun!  you need to bombjump across, nothing fancy or difficult.  just use your momentum.

metroidlover22

Ahhh, I was afraid of that haha. I haven't had luck getting past the last pit block but I'm not giving up. It's a tough one with the lack of height in the tunnel. Thanks Drew!

if you are still having trouble, rolling into a bomb will give you a special boost if you are moving away from it.

DonnyDonovan

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you just lay a bomb, move a little over in the direction you want to go, and let the bomb knock you right across?  I suck and I don't remember having any trouble with any required bomb jumps in this version of the game.

metroidlover22

Also, I'm on version 1.52, rather than 1.6.

I'm going through my first run in Lower Norfair, so I gotta take out Ridley before I go back to get that item.

You can for most of the basic jumps, but if you want to do any with any serious distance, you need the extra momentum.

This. If you want to 100% the game, a few expansions require this technique. You also need this technique to get an early Power Bomb pack if you wish to sequence break. I call it Bomb Vaulting.

Still not as bad as some of the ones that require Shinesparking. A couple in particular require you to carry a charge across five or six rooms. They're pretty brutal.

Ran into an rather consistent OOB while trying to get early Beam Combo last night.  I think I died to it around 5-6 times total.  Near as I can tell, it's caused by charging a spark, falling into the small pit, and then turning around in such a way that the game thinks Samus is quickfalling through crumble blocks.  It makes a sound like destructible blocks being broken, then you fall forever before instantly dying thanks to the "No Fun Allowed" insta-kill for going OOB.

looks like you are not playing "final" since my version does not have this error?

I was using the one from your page, which still had 1.52 as the version number.  So IDK.

Drewseph

nope, the one on my page is final. just checked with my site editor , the ftp shows:  modified date 11/30/2017 (http://drewseph.metroidconstruction.com)

Technomagus

I literally just downloaded the file from the site.  It's v1.52 with a last edit file date of 2/4/16.  So you might have the latest version on the server, but it's not linked from the webpage.

Drewseph

I also downloaded form the site I linked last post.  I got the FINAL version in the zip file. you sure you are not misplacing the download somehow? Also it is the only zip file on the site FTP, you'd get 404 if it was 1.52

I just downloaded directly from your link, this is the zip I got, the path it is located and the file IN the zip.

Some of your tourian rooms are in brinstar, making the sand a pulsating purple.
Overall had fun replaying this.

Drewseph

And breaking the locked doors. I threw in a fix a few weeks ago. with a note in the changelist. redownloading the patch should work. not sure how that got through all the testing. it was just one room tho. but that one room had like, 6 rooms as part of it.

At the risk of necroposting, I just started playing this hack yesterday and I have the 1.52 version (which was stored on my machine for some time)... just downloaded the patch from your site now to get the 1.6 version... not to be an asshole, but I was curious why the hack page here:

http://metroidconstruction.com//hack.php?id=205

is version 1.21 :pwuh:

Drewseph

Because I don't know how to update the page there, each time I tired it would not let me. besides, there is a link on the first post to the patch.

I found a bug. During an early bombs run (not EPB run), the underwater shaft room in Brinstar (the one with a Guardian hidden in a room to the west of it) glitches out during the room transition when going through the lower right door into Norfair. Maybe a roomstate error in one of the 2 rooms?

This pile of powerbomb blocks can be rolled right into, and if you do so without any powerbombs, you can't get out.
I'm not sure what "Early Bomb Run" means, but when I got here with power bombs, I was able to reproduce this bug.

That's the door and its results

Sometimes it works, but most of the time it freezes up.
Drewseph

This is odd because I can't seem to crash on that door.  even on my snes classic. what emulator are you using?

as for the powerbomb blocks, you need to powerbomb a few blocks away to get stuck. it's not easy to do that unintentionally, but I'll see about moving a block to try and fix that.

ZSNES FuSoYa 8MB

Drewseph

redesign vanilla even had issues on zsnes. I'd say use a diff emulator?

Well, the door isn't even all that useful unless you have the grapple beam anyways, but I suppose that's good advice to avoid any other door crashes.

I don't think I used a powerbomb beforehand. I just rolled right on in while using bombs.
