The Monster of Surrealton

UPDATE 1/24/16: Hack released.

UPDATE 1/27/16: Problems with permastucks fixed.

UPDATE 1/27/16: Minor tweaks.

UPDATE 1/28/16: Fixed Boost blocks in Maridia, moved an item.

UPDATE 2/21/16: Made a lot of changes. Latest update is the Feb2016 one.

Basically, a far-from-serious hack based on jokes I make in MST's streams.

Lots of red.
Bangs.
Enemies with Bang behavior
Rising acid in nonsensical places (after acquiring an item, entering a room from the top door)
Spikes everywhere.
Rage.

After I finish the hack, there will be a hard mode called "Shin Super Metroid: So Much Hell APOCALYPSE 'Q'" that has no expansions beyond the first, only the essential power-ups (Ball, Bomb, Space Jump?), no suits, less E-tanks, etc, and a naked Samus ending because.

There will also be a Houston mode called "Super Metroid: So Much Hell: HEROES NEVER DIE: Never Forget Me..." with no suits and many power-ups gone (no Screw attack), more expansions, and you start with power-ups already (missiles, supers, hopefully power bombs.) There will be less spikes, but will have fall damage to make up for it. And, the sprite will be edited to match Houston's suit.

The landing site is not red Crateria, and Crateria itself is not submerged in a sea of acid.  0/10, would not recommend.

You have my permission to raid and use the tileset from darkness returns and use that in crateria here! ^^

Is the difficulty fairly consistent throughout?  Or are there occasional spikes? :wink:

I'm going to echo Spooky.  I don't think there are enough spikes.

Yes it is.

The clouds are still gray for some reason.

And, rising acid will trigger at certain doors.

Most likely.

The spikes will be the main issue early on, and more rising acid will appear later on to make up for the E-Tanks acquired.

APOCALYPSE will only have 3 Es, so it'll get even worse.

Provided Ceres rooms are unchanged, if you really want to be an asshat, make the timer 14 seconds. That will even catch me 90% of the time. :bounce:

I was thinking of making it 23 seconds because random.

You may want to consider what I did in a unreleased hack I made for fun. (Super Metroid YOLO One Life.) Everything 1 hit kills you. (Sadly, I couldn't make everything do max damage but, I did what I could.) It was kinda funny to play and really challenging. I never beat it but, still fun to give yourself a challenge. :lol:

edit: Yeah, I forgot I renamed it. My bad.

Hmmm...

I think I'll save that for APOCALYPSE with the spikes.
