SMART CUBE
"This time this is not a simulation anymore."

Hello everyone
This is the thread for the progressing sequel of Digital Cube
Current progress : 82 %

Storyline :
Few years ago :
Samus participates to a virtual training program called Digital Cube, created by the young doctor Thomas Carter, kindly called "Mastermind" by others colleagues and scientists from the Galactic Federation, because of his attraction for mazes and other mathematic enigmas. Later, the scientist announces his departure for a mysterious project.

Present day :
Samus received a personal invitation from her old friend Thomas Carter. In a break since Darkholme, the bountyhunter makes the trip but falls into a trap.
Samus wakes up in an experimental cube, secretly built with a Chozo technology. Mastermind reveals his true and strange obsession since years: Samus herself. The former scientist is convicted that his Smart Cube is a true gift to her, testing her intelligence and courage.
Principle :
Samus must progress into a maze of 81 rooms (1x1 Size). Some rooms are trapped and need a specific item to survive, so be careful when you enter a new one.
Also, Smart Cube haves 2 colors in more (orange, needs Velocity, and purple needs Magnetic Key).
The progress can be saved with stations, and the cube haves also some Darkholme rooms, facing Samus to her own fears.
Screenshots :

Don't hesitate to share your feelings  :^_^:

That third screenshot looks amazing by giving a feeling of depth to the room. I must confess though, I never finished Digital Cube. :( Maybe at some point. Dying in the name of progress is interesting but get's stale after so long. So the news of save stations is sweet. I'll keep my eye on this still. :^_^:

I loved Digital Cube, so I'm looking forward to playing the sequel!

It would be nice if you could make some kind of custom ending... haven't seen anything like that before, though, so that's probably not going to happen  :heheh:

The way Digital Cube ended was pretty anti-climatic IMO

Normally I will try to put a green text at the end, like the Ceres intro, just to precise what happens at the end.  :^_^:

Cuuuuuuuuuubes!

Even though I may or may not have used save states for digital cube I loved it and can't wait for this.

Plutia

This looks really good and I can't wait to play it!

Out of curiosity, how long have you been working on it?

Thanks  :^_^:
I'm working on since one year.

Also, Di-Cube was made in one month.
The fact is Smart Cube is more massive and needs much more work. Also I had a giant break so the hack havn't progressed so much. Actually I have almost all rooms done.

Plutia

How big was digital cube again, 7 x 7 for 49 rooms? I don't remember that clearly.

Cloud20

Yep it was 7x7. So Smart Cube is 9x9 this time.

Quietus

What you need to do to be really evil is to track the in-game time, and have the rooms move after set intervals, just like the films.

There was a gary's mod that was like that, it was called hypercube.

Well, you may as well give it the film's name, and let the players know what suffering they're in for. :^_^:

I'd be willing to set this up.

It can works If you add an earthquake (lava rising) and make an event where the rooms have a different door pointer. I keep the earthquake idea for the end, but the rest is too complicated and too saddist, isn't Quietus ?  :^_^:

DSO

Sadist, maybe. Complicated? Not so much.

Though I think you guys have given MST much not needed fuel for more SL hacks.

Quietus

So Little Wherethehelldidmymapgo?

Smiley

SLT supercharged. Yay.

As for this cubid thing, it looks interesting. I'll probably give this one a shot and die more often than not. :^_^:
But save stations. The one major thing your other hacks lack, this one has. Awesome!

I believe I played Digital Cube a few years back, unless this is some other cube hack you made. Regardless I love the style and layout of the hack, and I feel that a lot could be done with it. Looks like it will be lots of fun to play already, and I can't wait to see it in-game.

I read that, thanks. I know this is the sequel of Digital Cube, but there could be more than one before it. I'm sure there isn't but it's best to make 100% sure you know. It has been a long time since I played any Super Metroid hacks including Digital Cube, but I'm sure I played it.. It was that 9 room one, right? It was fun.

From what I read, this one will be 9x9. That's a nice size cube. :P

Yep.

I can't wait for this to be released. I might actually play this hack when it's done. (I seriously need to play some hacks. I am always watching videos of it and not actually playing them... ) I watched MST play Digital Cube and I was very entertained. (Not by just MST's gameplay but, the hack as well. :heheh: ) I would love to see more of these if you have the time to make more of these types of hacks.

I should don't say that, but...
If you want more hacks like this, it will have a third sequel called Quantuum Cube. It should be completely different from the two first :)
