So I did the Grouse Grind yesterday. Here's an idea of what the hike is like:

Length:     2.9 kilometres (1.8 miles)
Elevation Gain:    853 metres (2,800 feet)
        - Base: 274 metres above sea level (900 feet)
        - Summit: 1,127 metres (3,700 feet)
        - Total Stairs: 2,830



Last pic is of the Gondola ride down, you could see the entire lower mainland.

That looks like a great place to hike...which reminds me, I'm going to Yellowstone and the Tetons in a few weeks for a vacation.

Actually, there were very few stone stairs, and very few log stairs too. Most of it was purely climbing mountain sides with footsteps and holding onto trees to get to higher ledges. And as for the nature remark, we were so deep within nature that we could hear bears, see wolves, and have moments of no sunlight whatsoever due to the density of trees. You're prompting me to post the warning sign picture up we took at the base..
