Soothe the Premonitions:
Samus awoke suddenly to the roaring air traffic outside her 143rd story window. The constant rain was a sound easy to sleep to, yet traffic jams did nothing but ruin her cosmic dreamscapes with the Chozo. She grew accustom to such subconscious visions, however disturbing they may be. The medicine cabinet in her small bathroom was filled with pills to rid the other half of her bloodline, yet Samus refused to take them. Maybe something important would be imbued; a phantasmagorical vision, a steer in a good direction for a bounty uncommonly posted on the moldy bounty bulletin boards nearest her residential district.

The lift down to the 36th story metropolis had her tapping her fingers to her thigh. She knew not to go to the bottom often, the air there was extremely toxic without a mask and the garbled neo-linguistic dialect of the lower city suburb was only worth a trip she'd make for a drink or two at the local sonar lounge. A place filled with trans-human psychonauts. What's the point of living an extra 300 years in this bolstered mega-corp landscape only to have transient cosmic awakenings. A bunch of cybernetically upgraded junkies she thought.

The elevator said "Have a nice day.. Samus Aran" as it opened it's doors. She thought to herself in this dystopian city how in the fuck is that possible. Walking through the souring sky roads she saw the descent of mankind on her trek through and past the anarchists, cyborgs, sex-roids and implantless humans spewing hate heteric speech to all those that subscribe to neural enhancements. This was a daily occurence for a common stroll.

The refusal of meds the galactic federation psychiatrists had put her on was taking it's toll on her mental stability, albeit the Chozodian visions had damaged her tempered psyche.  A drink sounded good to her at this point, though her mind was set to reaching the hologram fountain. A place she could sit and gather her thoughts in a more structured way. She sat down on a bench and stared at it, all the while arcane alien voices riddled her mind with clues of what endeavor she would soon undertake regardless of what orders not to embark on such hunches. Fuck the military she thought to herself, she was a bounty hunter and had no desire to adhere to their strict rules.

Samus was suddenly delighted when a little girl sat beside her. A girl she rescued from Eris. "Are you keeping well at the orphanage?" she asked. "Yes, thanks to you I'm covered in food stamps and clothing! Look at this new dress I got!". She looked at her and smiled, yet behind her smile bore deeper questions, questions regarding her telepathic connections with the Chozo she had once received. A solemn link on she and the little girl shared. Samus gathered her thoughts and asked the girl, "look into the fountain, what do you see?". "Umm.. I see a place we can't get to. Err.. it's not a planet but another place, where they live and everything is happy!" she stuttered. Samus looked into the girls eyes and understood precisely what she was saying. Transcended Chozos, while gone from this plain of existence, were still striving and well.

Samus shifted closer to the girl and put her hand on her shoulder. "You should know, your ability will not cease, and if ever it becomes overwhelming, feel free to ask me for help..". The little girl grinned with a hint of chagrin towards the offer, she was elated to be gifted. Samus knew this all too well, and that someday it would indeed overwhelm the girl. "I have to go child, keep well and avoid the locals around here, they know nothing even if they claim to know something.". "Okay!" the girl smirked. Before Samus got up the girl said one last thing to her. "Thank you." Samus smiled and replied "It's what I do child." as she walked off into the polluted city rain and fog.

While searching within herself for yet another hint from the Chozodian blood coursing through her veins to a new bounty, she put on her respiratory mask and headed town to the dangerous ground level. Not that there was any danger for her, everyone knew her. Whether it be stories of saving the galaxy, or exaggerated stories of her prior ventures. Without her medication, her only solace was a strong drink at the sonar lounge. She thought to herself who cares if it's early, there's no way to tell what time it is in this shit hole.
