Hello.

I've been adding a decent amount to the main site, and figured for the time-being, I'd make a thread dedicated to notifying the general public of what has been recently added. Everything is a W.I.P. and subject to change, of course.

Also, Note: I made this thread open to the public so I can get feedback. If you notice a outdated hack version, or a mislabeled doc, etc, please point it out.

4078A - 0A to ??
This is how long the X-ray's beam takes to widen before you can move it around. Obviously 00 is very helpful, as the beam appears instantly. (Found by Quietus)

4079A - 0A to ??
This is the width of the beam itself. This goes up to 40, which effectively X-ray's the entire screen in front of Samus, but going higher glitches. (Found by Quietus)

16EDA - 1E to 1F
When starting a brand new save file ("no data"), Samus immediately begins at the Crateria landing site after "start game" is selected, instead of displaying the area and map screens. For this to work, the "hide intro" box must be UNchecked in SMILE. (Found by Webber)
NOTE: Only works when "No Data" is selected, loading saved files will still display maps)

43446 - 22 CB 90 80 to EA EA EA EA
Disable Lava sound effects. (Found by DSO)

I'm fairly certain that this also prevents Super Missiles from destroying the eye doors as well.

I just went by the way Qactis had them categorized in his hack collection folder awhile back. Rainbow City is pretty awesome in execution though, I think it deserves to be there. It's a demonstration of all the aspects that can be altered visually. Good inspiration for newer hackers.

squishy_ichigo

I was referring more to the fact that it was never completed, and probably never will be. However, if you are linking the alpha test version, I think it should be labeled as such.

Hmmm, upon further inspection, the main site labels it demo, it was just your shoddy typemanship that threw me off. :P

Notes: Don't know, how to explain this shortly. The above 3 values are used for internal counter that doesn't do damage. When counter is underflowed, samus takes damage.
Maybe health subunits then? How else explain heat damage, for example? It's subunits per frame: $4000 subunits = 0.25 units. 0.25 units * 60 frames = 15 damage units per second.
Even gravity is measured in subunits. $0000.1C00 (pixels per frame).

Quietus

I don't think FullOfFail was pointing out the use of 'subhealth units', but pointing out that both of the first two entries have different addresses, but the same description - Varia Suit.  Is one of them supposed to be the Gravity Suit?

Yeah.

The only thing I added was the "(Might be a typo, maybe Gravity Suit???)" And, at the bottom, where it says "Notes:...", that was something JAM wrote.

I think JAM forgot he wrote that and got confused.

Anyway, I can try to change the description a bit, if you want JAM.

Ahh... Of course, it's a Gravity Suit (second tweak with value of 0030).

By the way, patch section is updated. I've added all the patches posted in collaboration stuff topic from August 2012 to current moment, including 2 "lost" patches (posted long time ago, but not uploaded):
•Variable solid + non-solid blocks by Scyzer
•Super Missile fix v1.2 (with BRA $28 bug already fixed) by Kejardon

If you have a patch that in not on the main site now (and you want it to be on main site), please let me know.

Quote58

Well, it seems you've included me twice in the patches section.
When updating I guess you forgot that I already had the fusion gfx up.
Don't bother fixing it just yet though, I'll have more stuff to post soon so you can just put them all together at that point.

Oops... My fault. I will fix it during the next update with adding a few patches (where there'll be any)

Bump for relevance.

So, I'm going to update the site again. Eventually the site will have a make-over via Vismund, which is why it's been held off, but then I realized it'll all have to be in the repository anyway and decided to go ahead and get it up to date. This is just a easier way to divide the work up. That all said, I haven't really been around/paying full attention to what's been released for the last 6 months or so, and wanted to make sure I included everything. Here's what I have so far:
Full:
Escape2
Hydellius

Half:
Patience

Mini:
HISHE [not sure if this should be, but for archive purposes I'll add it]
Ridley's Revenge (Prime Hunter)

One Room:
None

Winter Solstice:
Ice Returns
SMCompetition [+SMNonCompetition]
So Little Items
Sunshine Oddity

Mini-Contest Tourney
[Not sure how to handle this just yet.]
Week 2:
Adam's Hack (Jefe)
Celestriuas III
Spikes!!!
Retro Dust
Important!

If you have a completable hack, and it isn't on that list, please either send me a pm, or link it here and I'll add it. I'll also give the Japanese sites another look-over before proceeding.

I'll also be adding more Docs, and Hex, but that should be easier to dig up (for the most part).

Edit: Also note this list is subject to change, make sure to double-check it before letting me know a hack needs to be added.

Laterz.

Retroo

a name for my hack Retro Dust there you go

Quietus

Are you just looking at stuff for Super?  If not, then Incursion was also released.

FullOfFail

Someone brought up the subject of Metroid 1 hacks the other day, and I'm just not sure how to add them yet. Eventually when the site gets redesigned, we can have a much more fluent categorization system, but I'm not sure it's ready for it yet. I'd also need to know how many and what hacks I'd be adding, as to I know nothing about them and this creates a entire different list. We'll also have to have a section for the others, like Zero-Mission and Fusion, just to be fair and all. I'll chat with some people, we'll get it ironed-out.

personitis

I'll restate my thought that way it's stamped somewhere: use a tagging system to organize things on the main site.

Vismund Cygnus

So, FoF mentioned that the site will be getting a pretty new makeover soon enough (that is, when I have the time/energy to work on it). Chances are, the actual appearance of the site will remain similar if not identical. I probably should have posted this here and seen what feedback I got from everyone, but I didn't even think about it to be honest. So here it is, in all its MS Paint glory:

I'd prefer that any feedback came to me through PM, if only to keep this relatively clutter free. Alternatively a separate topic could be made for main site ideas if the demand is there.

Lots of love, Vismund.

FullOfFail

Just wanted to mention I updated the site earlier. Here's a list of the hacks I added. Also have a few misc things I'll add in the near future. I don't feel well and need to take a break for awhile, but if anyone mentions any mistakes I made or new patches, I'll take care of it. Laters.

As stupid as this sounds, I don't consider Evac to be complete. That said, if we had a better submission system, I wouldn't have submitted it. I'm not saying our current one (submission topic on the forum) is bad or even flawed, but there is the issue of no one using it and leaving it up to those who can access the main site to crawl around the forums and find would-be submissions.

Metaquarius

It's nitpicking but -Ice Returns- was made by Crys AND me... -Sunshine Oddity- was made by Vismund AND Quote58 I think too. Since the hack page is being remade currently, make sure proper credit is given (when the info is available of course)

More nitpicking! You should have SMCompetition under the Winter solstice category and SMNonCompetition under minihacks, since they're technically different hacks.

Alright, went ahead and did all that was asked. Hopefully everything is all fixed now.

Also, I felt like making a video of the most mundane task, so I did. Here's me reorganizing the interior of the hacks page. It became too long, and I had to clean it up.

You don't added the old hacks I sent to you like Maridia-Norfair, Super Metroid II, Rebuild 3 and 4 and such, don't you? Should I add them to the site?

By the way. I have ideas for the new categories. Tell me guys, what do you think.

Micro hacks
The new category was born this year. Starting from a hack named HISHE by Scyzer.
HISHE, Evacuation and Green Peace are micro hacks.

Well, the description is "Something you can pass in less than 100 seconds". Yes, we have One Room hacks, but Evacuation is a One Room hack, HISHE is not. But both hack can be cleared in 100 seconds, as I mentioned. Besides of that, there is One Room hacks with tough challenge, which you could clear in about 5 minutes or so.

Vanilla hacks
We have a lot of Half hacks. Should we make Vanilla as an unique category?

Quietus

I'm not so sure about micro hacks.  Perhaps just having a miscellaneous or novelty category, without any restriction like time.  Your own Blackout, for example, is still the size of the original game, but has the novel feature of being dark.
