Updated my tumblr with a theme I like, as well as a description and stuff. I post a lot of updates with asm/gfx hacking, so if you have tumblr, I suggest you check it out.

I basically reblog a whole bunch of crap.
Someday I'm going to start putting my own stuff on there. Maybe.

i see that alot of you guys use tumblr, why don't you use blogspot?

hey benki, i went to your site, its really nice, you haven't updated it or done anything since march? you should keep going on it, its really nice :)

I was thinking of starting a blog through blogspot, hoping someone might read this thread and give me some advice...only new to the forum and a bit shy to start a new thread so hopefully its ok me replying to this thread...opinions please on blogspot, if any? mostly i want to know if its customizable to my preferences or is it all template based? i don't want something fancy, mostly just want to like customize the heading so changing fonts etc. i was thinking of downloading this free font, http://www.fontsaddict.com/font/alwaysheretoo.html and using it...is that possible or do i have to pay money to make it customizable?
any help would help :),  Julia

I don't know how blogspot works, but I'm fairly certain you wouldn't be able to use that font on there. Even if you did, most other people wouldn't be able to see that font because they wouldn't have it installed. You'd be better off sticking with 'Web Safe Fonts', which include Times New Roman, Arial, Tahoma and various other fonts. What you could do is use that font in an image and upload the image to your blog, but you certainly wouldn't be able to use it for actual text.

Thanks for replying so quick  hmm yes that is something to think about, i didn't think about that. but now that you mention it, i've gone to some sites before and the font looks really weird and that must be the reason. i might do what you said re uploading an image for the site title but just leave the text as normal common (but boring hehe) fonts that everyone has.
thanks again :)

Yeah, it's like that with a few things web related.  I know that there's also a list of colours that are considered 'web safe', though it's most likely all but irrelevant nowadays.

There is actually a way to provide a url for a font file so that a browser can download it, but I don't know which browsers support it.

Firefox, Chrome, and Safari have supported it for quite some time (at least 2 years), and I know IE10 supports it (IE9 might too), but honestly, no one should bother designing sites for IE specific stuff anymore.

Opera probably supports it too, but I don't use it so I'm not 100% sure.

Have a tumblr too. It's personal stuff, and poetry I write, and just stuff I like.
