shouuld a game with mechanised metroids be based on a spaceship or a planet?

A well balanced hack without the need for stupid tricks to get by, some tricky grapple sequences promised aswell as an enemy gfx overhaul. i.e a great deal of the enemys are going to have a mechanical base structure with organics implemented. so far im working mainly on hex edits and looking for little tidbits that  could makee for aa more exciting SM without going to far into the world of ASM. many of you may know me from m2k2 as phantom hacker, and as usual my life hasn't kicked up so im back to the good ole days of hacking my favorite game :yay: my level design is a very non linear 'true' metroid experience looking all over the planet for that one item that you need in order to progress further. the final area of the game is to be accessible from the start but there will be a series of item based challenges to get to the final boss. (with rewards if your felling brave earlier in the game)

the demos ips included is likely to have a few snags but feel free to give it a blast!

note: enemy gfx are yet to be implemented as is the final area  of the game but enjoy anyways!

okay dude, same rules don't apply here then? on  m2k2 as long as you provided some content then it was viable as a topic? only saying because my Graphical work needs to be implemented before i advertise after all the game is just a template atm without a great deal of graphical change.

Well, you provided us with something. What, we don't know without playing. Screenshots and videos are great incentives to play your hack, so post some good ones to get things going.

The rooms look fairly interesting. I'll stay tuned for this project for when the hack is done.

As I mentioned elsewhere, the rooms look pretty good, but you have lots of issues with the BTS.

thanks for the input, as for the bts in what sense do you mean? the slopes of the random ones under the cliffs?
and these rooms are just base atm there is still alot more detail to be added to them at a later date, but i prefer to get the main elements of the rooms down and then elaborate on them when an area is completed, there are quite a few perma-stucks in the demo release that have now been resolved anyone comes across any issues ill be pleased to know about them.

To point out the most obvious ones:

  • You need one square BTS behind each ramp.  Sometimes two, if it's somewhere that can be horizontally sparked into.
  • The above is not true if the ramp is against a wall.
  • You do not need the square BTS blocks on normal, solid floors.

cool i see what you mean, mainly just an issue of me wanting  everything to look uniform and look right.
im a perfectionist when it comes to my hacks but if the above methods save block space then its a bonus!

as some of you may know my hack Super Mechtroid will have many enemys That are a combo of metroids and Mechs
as i have a vast experience in making a game on a ship things would run alot smoother and faster, and think that a ship is a ideal
setting, however a planet can also contain a Research center any thoughts?

apparently its common to have ships with simulated environments in the metroid universe.(MOM, MF) i wouldn't be surprised if all large ships had parks for crew members.

hey guys! been a long time since posting and had no idea this community was still going so strong! after having a break from rom hacking i intend to finally make a full overhaul that WILL get finished this time, already implemented most of the hex changes that i want at this time but that may change as the game develops. plan on doing a full enemy GFX overhaul to complement the story of the game should have some teaser pics, or maybe a vid up in a month but hopefully the plot will suffice for now, please feel free to criticise the story and tell me what you think! thanks guys,

plot/Story:

many years after the successful end to phazon based life, the galaxy is in a time of peace
and prosperity, the space pirate presence is almost non existent and there have been no
reports of attacks on any notable civilized planets or GF controlled space stations in almost
a decade. however Galactic federation researchers that have reportedly found a new planet have
not made contact with HQ for 48 hours,all attempts of communication are going unanswered and it's
escort crew have also remained silent. we have managed to do a survey from space and it
seems that there are two space fairing vessels located on the planets crust.one
of which is easily identified as the GFS Arklight that was based there. the other vessel looks to 
be of space pirate origin and massive energy spikes are being detected throughout the planets crust as well
as both of the ships located there.

samus we know that previous efforts of search and rescue have been in vain regarding space pirate
disposal and you are the only one who we know that always comes back alive. we want you to investigate
the GFS Arklight for survivors before you venture into the planets ecosystem or the pirates boarding ship
we aren't expecting there to be any surviving members of the team but as you can understand we all hope that
there will be. the researchers were working on many technological upgrades on that ship and we want you to
recover as many as you can,chances are your going to need them to wipe out the pirate invasion force posted
there.

oh and another thing samus, secondary scans indicate a presence of multiple metroid cell
cultures within some kind of Armour. who knows what the space pirates have discovered about the
metroid's but you must do what you have to to protect the status of our galaxy and all of the civilizations
within it you don't have a lot of time samus.
