Boss rooms can be exceptionally tricky sometimes. I screwed Kraid up a long time ago and have never gotten around to fixing him/his room. A good rule of thumb is to always plan on some extra work and time on boss rooms, even when designed relatively simply compared to other rooms.

If/when you get around to messing with Kraid again, I suggest repointing the tileset/palette should you change them. It never hurts to be safe, and since you are aiming for a smaller hack, you won't be hurting for space so much.

sad to hear about the glitch.
did you test without quickmet?

Baconface

Well, with that silly glitch problem solved, I can show you a preview of that new area. No item spoilers, just the palette and general theme.

The Cold Storage! It's a giant...Chozo...refrigerator.

(Pictured: unconvincing crates.)

Long since abandoned, the ancient items stored within this area are mostly intact...mostly. An infestation of ghosts isn't helping, either. I heard there's an Italian plumber who has a ghost-sucking vacuum cleaner. But where will we find an Italian plumber here?

I still have to add a lot of the "wrecked" style details to the area, and change to fog to be a little more consistent...and everything else, really. It's very unfinished so far.

Fe

Very silly, and very nice pics. I'm definitely loving it so far. This is definitely a hack that I will take time to play through (which I rarely do) :^_^:

Baconface

Messing around with layers. There are things hiding behind those walls. Hungry things. And there will be more scenery added, yes.

Baconface

I just have to say that this hack isn't quite dead yet. However, I'm rebuilding it from the ground up to make the map layout less like the original Super Metroid. Also, custom graphics!

The extra plantlife makes Shore Rock look a bit more like the fertile beach-type region I was originally intending it to be.

Placeholder sky and filler tiles until I find something better. (also, credit to A_red_monk_called_Key for the GFX collection, it's really cool but a bit difficult to use...)

Weterr123

The above screenshot looks.... reeeeaaalllyy cool.

I will be waiting with baited breath for this hack!! :)

glad to see that this is still in progress!
keep up the interesting work.  :^_^:

Lunaria

The sky and clouds graphics could REALLY use some more work.

Still in the process of finding better filler tiles. Also making progress on a better background. See? There's some water down there!

Weterr123

I really like the 'emptiness' of the background - I think it works for what it is, and in this respect, it will set your hack apart from others. Is there a way you could vary some of the clouds though? If some clouds were different, it would feel less structured. But still, I'm liking what I see  :^_^:

Dude man, you can't assume I read things; Who do you take me for?!

Okay, now it looks a little better. Clouds are still placeholders though. Also, bubbles!

MetroidMst

I've already mentioned how I like the very odd premise of the hack. BUT BUBBLES!

I will say however, that the bubbles could use a better palette. You did not half attempt the palette at least, but that green does them no justice.

Quietus

The tiles that make up the vertical walls look too segmented for the room.  It appears to be an outdoor area, and those tiles look too much like bricks or blocks, rather than a natural surface.  A few edits, and you'd be set.

Baconface

A couple of screenshots, and an edited Kihunter palette. This time, the yellow parts are cyan! :shocking:

Charmander106

That looks really neat! Reminds me of the Volta hack... A nice palette as well. But though for some reason the tiny blue mushrooms stands out.

Quietus

Still loving the vivid colours in this.  Keep it up, Baconface! :^_^:

Baconface

The redesigned Aquell tunnels. Now, instead of weird random floating blocks, there are weird random floating plants instead, and those are always nice.

Quote58

Interesting use of those tiles. I assume this was made with the gfx collection? it's looking pretty good.

i'm liking every part of this hack that you've shown us.

nice work, and please keep it up Bacon!

All I saw were BUBBLES! This hack can now be truly called a Sunny Day.
