I was playing this game and discovered this room behind a single speed booster block...
What the hell is this? xD
Also leaving this room seems to restart the Crocomire fight.
That's supposed to pay homage to the Green Chozo Room urban legend that everyone talked about. As for the restarting Crocomire fight, that happens if you didn't let him die fully, as in his skull sticking out or something like it.

Ah okay.. Sorry for not putting that in a spoiler.. Thanks for that Vismund.

This has been covered many, many, many times already. Maybe try reading the very same page you are on before posting.

I'm sure you're sick of requests for alternative versions of PB, but I'm gonna request it anyway.

Ideally, what I'd like is PB in full, with the only exceptions being physics alterations. I can already disable the backflip and reset the Speed Booster, so I'm fine to do those. The Vanilla Gameplay version you have is very close, but it also removes all of the delicious graphics edits to beams and stuff, which I'd prefer to keep.

Draconis Kenjishiya

Very awesome in all regards. It's taken the game and made it a whole new experience while still remaining familiar, and I greatly approve of that. Excellent work, here.

I have a question regarding its use as a base for a hack. Usually in SMILE, when I right-click a PLM to change its properties, there are item definitions for Energy Tanks, Missile Expansions, etc. that allow one to change how many units are added to a player's reserves upon collection. This feature is curiously missing from the version of PB that I'd like to use. Where did it go? Is there another, obvious way to do this? Probably...

begrimed

What the hell? You're right, the options are missing for Project Base and I have no idea why, lol. That's so weird. Try using another SMILE version to do that for now, or make the edit on a clean ROM and use file compare to find the location so you can do it with a hex editor. I just found out on IRC that it happens because of the removed item fanfare. Interesting little quirk.

Draconis Kenjishiya

Alright. Yeah it struck me as odd for that to have been an intentional change, and I couldn't find anywhere in this whole thread where it had been mentioned. I will use one of the methods you listed. Thanks

Shionkreth

Love your work on project base, both as a, well, project base, and the game which is like super metroid+. I noticed one thing downloading from your site though: the gameplay-only patch which says it's .72 seems to still have the regular old super metroid bombs. Not sure if that's intentional for the original game or if it's been mentioned before. (worked for me though, because I then downloaded gameplay and level redesign to see if the bombs were normal there... and have been quite enjoying it :D)

Quietus

I think that's intended for that version. It's what I was talking about a few posts back, where I'd like the vanilla physics, but would like to keep the new beams and stuff. Unfortunately, they are also removed.

Well.. maybe, I didn't go that far in to it so I don't know what's there and what isn't - but it does have the slow projectile rapid fire cannon instead of the normal gun starting out at the very least.

Just finished this and...

It might be better than the original.

Almost definitely not, seeing as the first version of PB came out around early 2010, and DChronus last worked on his map patch in what, April 2010?

There is no patches for PB but i patched my hack with it anyways (my hack is using project base). Do i had to fix the message boxes cause they got fucked up, but that can easy be fixed in SMILE RFs message box editor!

How do you do a Crystal Flash in Project Base 0.7.2? It's driving me crazy trying to figure it out. :(

master86

#566
It is performed by following these steps:

Samus must have 50 or less energy, empty Reserve Tanks, and at least 10 Missiles, 10 Super Missiles, and 11 Power Bombs.
Samus must enter Morph Ball form.
Holding down + aim up button + aim down button (default L and R) + fire button will initiate the Crystal Flash. This will result in Samus rising into the air in a ball of light, suitless, while her Energy Tanks rapidly refill.

Notes: Power Bombs must be selected for this Technique. Also, the ammo supply will drop as the Crystal Flash is performed.
Its the same as on the normal metroid
If you do it right you can get the plasma beam before the boss.
And are second item but if your make it this way the game get's very difficult to beat.

Uhh, I already tried that? I already know how to do a Crystal Flash in vanilla Super Metroid. I want to know how to do it in this particular version. The traditional combo doesn't work here. :(

What version are you playing?

I don't remember changing any of the requirement values for Crystal Flash, but it still could'a happened, or maybe some other edit is affecting the timing in a subtle way that is messing you up. Crystal Flash will eventually have easier inputs and conditions anyway.

master86

0.7.2 i am played as i say @begrimed for me its working if your us bombs and this your can get plasma and screw atack with out beating the boses.

Never mind. It might work, but Windows only recognizes 4 buttons being pressed at once, even on my controller.

master86, are you using a Mac?

master86

no i us windows 10  on this notebook on the second is linux ther are only 4 buttons needed for Crystal Flash.
If your us are emu set save state that is what i make and try it ervery time after 5 - 6 trys it works for me.

FPzero

Key input is definitely not a Windows limitation. It's a limitation on certain keyboards but shouldn't be on controllers. I've definitely done Crystal Flash on both keyboard and controller on Windows 7.
