That glitch happens when you shinespark into any suit pickup, even in the original (you can easily do it with Varia if you get Speedbooster first). It's just because picking up a suit upgrade cahnges your pose and animation, but not your movement type, so when you get control again the game thinks you are still shinesparking.

TobiMikami

That actually makes perfect sense. It seems like it could be easily fixed but at the same time it's also one of those things that's like who the fuck would actually do that anyways. Not like it breaks the game, so probably what Nintendo figured from square one.

Scyzer

It would be easy to fix, but I doubt anyone cares because really, who the fuck shinesparks into item upgrades?

Cool to hear an explanation on that, as that is one of the last glitches I've encountered in my 20+ years of this game, & I only found it out after applying the HEX tweak for the shorter Speed Booster startup, & shinesparking everywhere.

Also, since this is my first post in the Project Base thread, let me say that I loved almost every aspect of it, especially game play wise. That backflip animation hurt damage boost while crouching & holding run & then pressing jump is one of the most bad ass Samus abilities added to a hack yet!
The speedup of many animations are welcome too, such as turning, spin jump, door opening speeds. Obviously a lot of the tweaks accumulate to make a super Samus, but it doesn't matter, this just feels like a version of SM that you could go crazy with. The Speed Booster has never been so fun or powerful! My personal favorite power up in all of Metroid, no doubt.

Love the starry background on the landing site!
As well as the dual colored "petals" that fall in "pink" Brinstar & Maridia, all around.
Glad you made Chozo's with slopes so they can be walked / rolled over. (although the Charge Beam one doesn't have the slope.)
Like the fact that some of the shortcuts seem as if they were part of the SM beta (below old MB shaft connecting to the room after Spore Spawn, the door added in Maridia near the strange vertical tube, & the Wrecked Ship exit past the top right of the attic.)

The only thing to bother me really is the Power Beam's projectile (default beam), it just seemed to big, maybe shot too quick (not that most the beams don't, Idk why the power beam bothers me, to be honest. )
That & some of the graphics seemed to "flashy" at times... maybe too vibrant/detailed? I can't really pinpoint my feelings on this one either, it looks just a bit off to me at times.

Other than that, pretty fun. I feel like playing it right now, actually!  :^_^:

A lot of the moves add to the fluidity of the gameplay.  I'm itching for this to be finished, so that TASers can go nuts with the new mechanics. :^_^:

LinkaMeister

I'm so stoked for the new version to speedrun 104% of it like I do for Project base 0.7. I hope that the new rooms will make my run even faster then it already is for 104%.

Still no ETA for 0.7.1, but my hands have not been idle.

OMG that really looks so good. I'm so curious now what else there's going to be different. Keep up the good work Grime.

The Kraid head hype is real.

I know that Project Base has now become its own thing, but are you still planning on releasing the hack as the original game with just the palette / background edits?  At least that's how I understood the original plan - a base for people's projects.  I know you mentioned releasing the patch without any physics changes, but don't recall this being mentioned.

I recall him mentioning releasing parts of the patch separately once he's done (i.e. only palette/bg, only physics changes, etc).

Grime that looks fucking amazing.
Always looking forward to a new version of this.

SpoOkyMagician

I played a bit of it here and there. (Still need to finish it though. Took a break from it.) I like all the changes to the game and what not. I should probably get back to playing it soon. (Tomorrow probably.) It's been a while since I last played/saved... Excellent hack though.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm curious as to why you put your name at the bottom of every reply, even though your name is on everything you post anyway.  Is it a habit from somewhere else?

SpoOkyMagician

Yeah, I always have/always will. As to why... *shrugs* I just did it one day, and it stuck.

Fairy's muff. :^_^:
<_<;
My mind immediately when to "that" side of the internet...

In any case, can't wait to find more disconnected doors for you Grime! Being that you're combining rooms and all that jazz. Should be fun.

Glad to help / hinder.

SpoOkyMagician

While playing though, I found a room that should not be/broken? Not sure if its reported yet but its in Crocomires room on the right. (speed boost top right side, morph in, and this happens...)

GUYS GREEN CHOZO IS REAL

So, I finally finished it. 103% at 3 hours. (I think I am missing a super missile somewhere... I dunno where though... :<_<: I am gonna look for it...)

edit: So that is where it was... (found it in smile...) That is a evil place to move that SM... :stern:

Quietus

Ah, the green chozo room strikes again.  It's funny because the door only works after you collect the pipe boots, and most players don't even realise they've collected them. :^_^:

LinkaMeister

This is what happened when I shinesparked across the top of the bowling alley, but its not a softlock. I can easily get back by just rolling to the left.

Quietus

That's why the statue is shrugging.  "Here, look at this fool trying to be clever.  What does it achieve?" *Shrugs*

This happens in vanilla SM as well and is due to the BTS used on that wall.
