I considered ballsparks, but I imagine it would look silly no matter how it's done if it doesn't involve being shot out of a cannon.

Kitsune_Phoenix

Okay then... How about a boostball? You could charge it with the run button.

begrimed

Nah. Boost ball is cool and all, but I don't really care for it beyond that.

Plutia

Man you don't even need boost ball, the speedbooster is already insane as heck. If you really need to be boosting in morph ball just do a machball!

Kitsune_Phoenix

Who cares if it is unnecessary, the boostball is awesome!

begrimed

There's also a game-breaking bug with Boost Ball, which can shoot you down into solid tiles if you do it underwater without gravity suit.

Kitsune_Phoenix

That's easy; make the Boostball not function underwater without the gravity suit. And bundle the Boostball with the speedbooster or something.

Quietus

Kitsune: You've made your suggestion, and Grime has said that he'd rather not implement it.  Please respect his wishes, and stop trying to convince him.

Kitsune_Phoenix

Kitsune is not my name... I thought I wrote it down somewhere.

Quietus

With respect, that was the name you chose for use on the forum.  If you would like to be known as something else, I would suggest that you contact the admin team to have it changed to whatever you wish to be known as.

The Envoy of the Beginning

Just played Project Base v0.7 and finished it in 1:48 with max items. Hopefully, I can record a max-percent playthrough by the end of today.
Like what you did with adding new ways of getting around.

But Samus's death clip...why so lewd >_>
begrimed

I'm not against having Boost Ball integrated into PB as an alternate release after I'm finished with it. Same goes for other specialized things that currently break PB if patched onto it. Control Freak, new HUDs, whatever else.
She was originally supposed to die naked. Also scream.

Oh, I see.

Also, just to make sure:

This is all the items in this version? I noticed you added four more Missile tanks (to my knowledge).

Edit: Never mind. Saw the OP.
Finished my first playthrough of this, 104% collected. (You should probably change that).

I'm going to say this from the start: I love Project Base. I love the idea of Project Base. It's the Super Metroid that we never knew we wanted, and I for one say that now I have it, I never want to go back.
Seeing as 0.6 has already been reviewed a lot, I'll try and focus on 0.7 stuff mainly.
The new palettes are absolutely incredible. It seems all of the issues with the old ones were fixed, everything's much brighter and happier than it used to be, and it looks great. My personal favourite would have to be Maridia, both the blue sections and the new sand were gorgeous. I'm still not a big fan of Green Brinstar, but it's definitely an improvement over 0.6.
The new paths that Grime has created really help add to the sense of exploration that came with Super Metroid. Now you can backtrack around the place in insane ways that somehow still hold true to the original layout. It also allows for some crazy new sequence breaks, such as suitless Maridia without powerbombs, bypassing Botwoon, and entering Crocomire's room from the wrong side.
PB 0.7 is the ultimate half hack. People might argue that it's lazy to make a hack that uses the entire original game as it's base, and I'd say that they're half right. But then I'd say fuck you, you're wrong because I doubt a single room in this entire hack has gone untouched, everything is in some way different and unique. I have almost no complaints about this hack, and the only ones I do are purely based on my personal stylistic taste.

Overall excellent hack, and definitely warrants at least one playthrough. It'd be interesting to see if any of the layout additions change the route for any%/100% speedruns.

This is a blast to play through.  The sheer number of route options, combined with the new physics, makes the experience so fresh even though it's based on the original map and item locations.  If you haven't played it because it's "just" a half-hack (if that), you are doing yourself a disservice.  Go play it.  Now.

Enjoyed the hell out of the new routes. Everything played awesomely. :D

Edit: Got 103%. Totally missing a missile pack... somewhere. ~_~

Quietus

Has Grime confirmed that that is the current total for all items, 104%?

- 4 new missile expansions added to the game, bringing the missile total up to 250.
I would say so, yes.

He has indeed.

Time to start exploiting the Reset Glitch and Torizo code :3

May contain spoilers:

Super Metroid Project Base 104% test route

I MISSED THREE ITEMS. By the time I realized, I was very far into the run and didn't want to go get them. They are (in order of when they would be collected):

Blue Brinstar Power bomb (collect this while doing stuff on the way up to WS)
Wrecked Ship Missile where map station used to be (this probably requires bomb jumping, but it may be possible to collect with a shinespark given the extra time for a charge in this hack.)
Crateria Missile outside Wrecked Ship in the water (collect this after gravity suit, collect WS Energy Tank on the way up to the top, and take the door down to Maridia instead.)

Maybe I'll revise it at some point.

GT code doesn't work. Just tried. :(

Been playing for a half hour. Like it thus far.

However, huge problem alert: Found the backwards way to x-ray. Then, in the room to the right of x-ray (the normal room before it with the spikes, grapple blocks and fireflies etc) I fell through the wall, and got stuck in the non-existent abyss. Like when testing an incomplete room and you fall off the screen many times. Didn't take screen shots, just turned it off in annoyance.
