I have found something weird in project base 0.7. I have two pictures of it.

Ah, the infamous green chozo room.  I haven't got there yet, so I can't test, but I would guess that if it's legit, then Grime added it in as an easter egg.

If you're interested, here's Kejardon's recent (in relation to the myth) April Fool's thread with a video of it being accessed.

Scyzer

Of course it's not legit lol. It's just this kid trying to be clever. He's taken a screen shot of Kej's video and done some paint work to try to make it look like Project Base.
I mean, for one, does he suddenly lose PBs completely after entering the room?
Plus the HUD is a bit wrong. PB does have a map grid, and those dark grey squares around the icons in the first pic? It doesn't have those.

Sorry bud, but April isn't til next month, and you'll need to do a better job in SMILE/Paint to fool most of us anyway :P

I'm also beta testing pb 0.7 and i promise you it is real, grime has put it in. when you go into the room, the palette for both the e-tanks and the mini map goes from red to pink, then shifts back when you exit again :^_^:

Quote58

It's quite true, I laughed hard when I found it (I was in a skype call at the time too lol)

However it was obviously an easter egg by grime so thanks for spoiling that for people buddy.

Plutia

Gonna throw this out here and say I'm the one who suggested Grime throw that in :P
I was gonna stream it at some point and try to suprise everyone!

Yeah, I thought that. You're beta testing, you not meant to reveal info, that's for people to find out when the play the released version.

If that's the case, then why this?

and I don't mind if you want to stream it for others to watch (let me know so I can watch it too if I'm around).

Aside from a few bits of ASM that I can't really do myself, this version is basically finished. If anybody wants to beta test PB 0.7, let me know in this thread or send me a PM. Don't give the beta to others without asking me first, and especially don't publicly post the link anywhere. I don't want this version being spread around.

Any kind of critique or commentary is encouraged but not required, and I don't mind if you want to stream it for others to watch (let me know so I can watch it too if I'm around).

Yeah he was fine with showing it off, just so long as you don't post links for it or pass it around like some kind of chinease Christmas present.

Anyway I have just finished it myself (been busy with personal issues) and I must say the tweaks to the core game have been very interesting.

Just for those who don't wish to know changes spoiler tag.
Regarding the flow of the gameplay it is physics wise similar to the last entry.  very smooth and once you get the hang of it can go by super fast.  Bosses are also pretty much the same, though golden Torizo seems easier, though I could be mistaken.

I find it also pretty great how he removed a lot of the barriers that prevented going to different areas before you have the proper item or ability to go in said direction.  While I overall followed the main route (with exceptions) I could've at many points went to late game areas and the concept of a bossrush would've been much easier to execute.  The areas that were added gave a lot of new flavor and made the areas look and feel more organic imo, also for the same reasons the barriers being removed, ease of moving to other areas.

Item placement was different for some things, mostly missiles and such.  It seemed like they were in those cases placed in the open instead of being hidden.  I dont overall know how I feel about it but this is your hack and I will respect how you choose to modify it.

However the curious thing I have seen was at the end when I beat it.  Blowed through and got my percentage of 104%.  That made me curious as to what else could be hidden for me to locate, because I had the full load of items.
At any rate it was a very refreshing change to the core game and I can say if you keep this slow build of tweaks and changes I think you can make this one of the most ambitious and greatest hacks of Super Metroid to date.  I know that is some bold words but imo the fact you are working to enhance the main game makes this feel far more like a true reworking than just some hack.

Keep up the good work Grime!  I look forward to more as time goes!  :D

It kind of feels like PB is becoming it's own hack, rather then a simple revamp of the original.
^

I won't go into details because most of it is masterbation,
but yeah the bomb sound is cheesy and I miss being able to midair morph off a walljump.
I thought for a second, 'since when did I start sucking at alcatraz?' then I realized.

Overall, fap fap fap love it so far.

begrimed

Several people have been less than thrilled about insta-morph after walljumps being gone, so I'll put that back in.

I like the new bomb sound, though.

Digital_Mantra

Well, with all the fall step and walljump sounds (great touches btw),
bombs just feel like they need to sound more explosive and less zap zap zap pew pew pew.
But it's your hack. It's your awesome hack.

Plutia

okay, can someone tell me what alcatraz is? i swear I've seen that quite a few times on the forum before

begrimed

Alcatraz escape = exiting bomb torizo's area the same way you fell in.

Mini-Kraid

I will agree with D-man (minus the fapping, not gonna touch that sounds too sticky *snicker*) the bomb sound imo is underwhelming for the effect.  I feel a beefy deep sound such as the boulders hitting the ground in game.  But that is just my 2 cents.  Still this hack is dripping with awesomesauce overall.

Think some mini-hacks have required me to do that, not toooo hard?

Quietus

It's not too tough, but if you can't manage it, you can always IBJ anyway. :^_^:

Okay! After much beta testing by a few awesome peeps, I'm confident that all of the big mistakes have been taken care of. Project Base 0.7 will be released in a few days. There's more I could have done, but there are other things demanding my attention now that I would be an asshole to postpone any further.

[d]edit: no more Tourian bugs because Scyzer kicks ass. This thread will update in the next day or so with the finished 0.7 download.

Su

Most excellent. 0.6 was really good, looking forward to 0.7.

Wait no longer! Version 0.7 is out. Grab it from the first post. As usual, post any bugs I might've missed in this topic if you find them. Also, feedback. Feedback is good. Feedback waters this hack.

Enjoy!

personitis

I like how you "reused" one of the screens I sent you. Wonder if anyone will catch on... That aside, this being to finished and polished release, I'll have to give it another whirl here soon. :yay:

Kitsune_Phoenix

Could you add morphball shinesparks using the Springball?
