Excellent, danidub.  To nitpick, the icons with the numbers on are almost impossible to read.  It might be worth putting the numbers above or next to the icon instead.  Also, should 'Intensive Cares' not just be 'Intensive Care'?

Thank you Quietus.

I agree for the icons numbers,
but Intensive Cares is a name in the game.

I suppose both of you are French, but it's still not proper English.

I find Darkholme Hospital an awesome rom hack and I just did a deathless run of Darkholme Hospital Pro Mode 100%. I made a hightlight of it on my twitch.

This is the video of the run I did.

Its not a really good video of it.

JAM

Good news, everyone.
Looks like, I can reduce the IPS size of main game down to 400 kbs or so by restoring original layout of unused rooms.
This hack deserves to be optimized.

LinkaMeister
Nice job =)

45 mins (plus a save state or two) 89%.

Fun hack, cool concept, cool ending run, started to get repetitive on floor 5.

Recommended.

I've made a new interactive map for DH.
Hope you'll like it.

Dani your interactive map is just awesome :D

Quietus

I agree.  The new maps are great.  I'd say the only thing that's missing (unless I'm missing the obvious), is the ability to zoom in more easily.  Maybe another toggle button labelled 'Zoom / Scroll'?  You could then click it, scroll around while zoomed in, then click again to zoom back out.

For now you have to right click and zoom in/out. Than you can scroll with the hand grip.
There's no zooming code in flash. You have to simulate zoom by changing the size of each image in the code (map-items and so on).
I'll try something in my next map (Super Zero Mission): A smaller map with areas selection.
When you select you have the area detailed.

Thank you for your comments

I didn't see another thread about this particular hack, and wasn't sure I should start a new one, so I figured I'd say it in here. It at least keeps discussion about this hack in the main topic about same.

I finally got around to playing 2.0 - hadn't ever touched the original, only found out about this late last year but circumstances got in the way. Anyways, for the most part I enjoyed it and liked the ambiance.. but, frankly, I think Darkholme Hospital still needs a bit of work.
I can only assume I somehow did something wrong because I found the escape sequence to be pretty much impossible or required a skill level the rest of the hack didn't require and myself did not possess. I pretty much scoured the place top to bottom every time I got a new ability, and still didn't manage to obtain the 100 Missiles (had 70), 60 Supers (had 55), or 30 Powers (had 25) needed to get past those numbered gates. And yes, I did get the Super shortly before the boss in that one vent system. Likewise, I only encountered one row's worth of Medical Packs.

This resulted in my running out of Health before I could even reach the second recharge station (and in fact got trapped between those two annoying fans in the room before the boss after getting Evidence A at least twice). After managing it with a couple HP left my fourth try, thanks to save states, I discovered I literally did not have enough health to make it to the third one on the surface.

As much as I enjoyed the rest of the hack - seriously, the concept was really cool - the entire escape sequence just felt horrible and really dragged things down. I wound up having to grab an Infinite Energy code just so I could complete it for the sake of not actually setting it aside and forgetting about it. Also, what's up with Samus destroying the Earth?

Things I think that could use work include slowly down the health drain and having at least one other save place, cause it's really annoying to go all the way back up to the surface just to save. Also, the number of times I wound up having to retrace my steps cause of one-way doors was very tedious and really made it feel like the hack's length was being artificially lengthened in some places. Also Spin Restart, oh my gods did it feel like I had a hell of a time in a couple places cause there was just no breathing room and spin restart would've helped.

Aside from all that, I do think that you guys/gals did a lot of cool stuff. The atmosphere was amazing, the tile work was really nice. I especially liked the boos edit/room, too.
EDIT: I hope I'm not coming off rude or harsh, I'm just really frustrated with how good the hack was doing and then it was like *WOOSH* had the rug pulled out from under me.

Hello Hiroshi

I will try to answer at best I can.
First thanks to have played this hack and I am glad you enjoyed it mainly.

Yeah, during the days after the release of 2.0, the main problem appeared was a lack of save stations that could use some work (even if the 6th Floor haves some deadly ghosts AND I REMAIN THAT GHOSTS WON'T BE EDITED in a forthcoming version). Actually a lot of little things should be fixed, also maybe a revamping of the manual elevator at the escaping sequence. (Wink to JAM  :^_^:)

So, about escaping, I think it was designed to survive if you have at least 4 energy tanks, and the fact is I don't understand how you survived until the end without it, that's pretty surprising, congratulations. Also, it don't need some infinite code for energy, just exploring a little bit more to find it, and honestly I don't think that is really hard, even if the hack is not so big  :^_^:. Like the original SM, the end is pretty impossible if you didn't acquiered enough items to fight Mother Brain, in terms of energy and for example or if you miss Charge, and a lot of missile and super missle. The only problem is on SM, you can turn back after the second save of tourian. Obviously, some edits can be made to the escape parts but honestly the best way is to take a little bit more some time before defeat the Mainframe.

About Earth destruction, yeah this animation is non sense and it should be completly removed or reworked.
The main complain about the save stations are truly understandable and I have some plans to include it in a original way, trust me . It should be the main edit for a next version.

Thanks for playing  :^_^:

I'm really liking this hack; not sure what took me so long to get to it. (Well, it was probably the last couple years of CONSTANT R.L. business. Ugh.)

Anyway, I saw this message and, besides wanting to say that this game is brilliant, just wanted to agree with Quietus and Zhs2 that in English, the proper term is indeed "Intensive Care" even if you mean multiple rooms of it. It's a department name, whereas "Cares" just looks like a bug or a translation error that needs fixing. :p

Also, in the introduction text, it should say "to investigate strange events" or "to investigate some strange events" (not investigate on) ... and it should say "medical complex built 50 years ago" ("build" isn't past tense).

Thanks for putting this together; it's absolutely refreshing! This one issue is actually my biggest pick with it so far ... well, actually, this and the major scrolling issue that occurs after
bombing through a toilet (we have to restart the game to see the scrolling right again!)
which seems like the error fixed by setting the above screen to a green scroll in SMILE ... but still it's pretty solid. :)

Parabox

LinkaMeister, thanks for posting two auto-playing VODs, please spoiler tag them so they don't autoplay, I don't feel like opening all updated topics and hunting down some 15+ tabs to find which one has autoplaying video/audio (yes, I know this isn't an issue for Chrome/MS Edge users as they get the little audio symbol on the tab, I'm not using either of those browsers).

Quietus

It looks good so far. If you are interested in tweaking the English a little, here's an example. :^_^:

QuoteThree years after the destruction of Zebes, Samus returns to Earth to investigate the strange events plaguing Darkholme Hospital, a military medical facility built 50 years ago.

Metaquarius

Aw... I was expecting some kind of developer commentary really *sad* Would be nice to have some fun facts about the making of this hack etc.

A making of... why not. Basically it will take a long time to prepare it, I wanted to show my own playthrough. Maybe for a Pro Mode who knows ?

CaptRicoSakara

Been playing Darkholme Hospital for a while now, and I have to say I love what I see. The whole design and feel of the game reminds me of Fury 161 from ALIEN 3. Call me crazy, but that's the vibe I get from playing this hack.

My only beef is the speedrun, trying to get below 1 hour. I can't seem to do it. The shortest I've gotten was 1:05 I think. I don't know if you're suppose to get 0:59 or the nude ending, or lower.

Overall, the game is awesome and enjoyable! The game has its share of difficult parts, but with practice, you manage to over come them with time and replays. Overall, I love it.

PonchGaming

To get the nude ending, you have to use one of the key patches. Try getting all of them and then play through darkholme again.

Cloud20

Hi chaps  :^_^:

A SFW version is available for Darkholme 2.0 on the original post if anybody is interested. This version reverted back to the original death animation and skip the Keypatch T. This version is cleared from mature/nudity content.

Now worries the original v2.0 version is still available. However I had to remove 1.1 and 1.2 from attachments, but feel free to PM me if anybody is interested to have these version.

Best,

Were there any recent complaints? I thought that was pretty funny.

As for v1.x versions, they are still available on the main site. Just to let you know.
Not that those versions are really interesting anymore, v2.0 did everything just better IMO.

Also Equinox when ?

Not a lot, somebody did on the hack reviews. I made originally this version for somebody on Reddit that was requesting it.

And for Equinox... well, I still got some ideas but didn't really progressed for now.
