That was part of the entire idea. It won't be 100% accurate to the SNES version, of course. But this allows for tweaks. And since the engine is well documented it will open a whole new world of possible Metroid and Metroid-style games.

Only the top row of 16x16s glitch, so it covers what it needs to.

I think that's why (without major work), we couldn't really have a transparent HUD.

Quietus, as DSO said its only the top two lines that show the glitching, and without rewriting the drawing engine that won't be fixable. However a working transparent HUD that does show that glitching is easy.
And yes that square should not be there, its a garbage tile which is for some reason rather difficult to get rid of.

With the work I did on pushy-blocks I'm pretty sure I could come up with a computer access animation.  Also been tinkering on methods to do simple cut-scenes.  Nothing of interest to report on that front though (tinkering with gamestates isn't the easiest thing in the world ya know).  :P

That reminds me.  Did anybody ever make any headway into editing the intro screenshots (scientists and stuff)?  We needn't be so keen to skip the intro if we could actually change them, and it'd add a huge opportunity if people wanted to provide a story.

those screen shots are just graphics which you can rip from SMILE, but now you mention it I might add functionality for that to RF. Might as well since it already does ceres and title screens :3
