Playing Super Metroid Hacks Problem :(

Can someone help me cause I really want to play Super Metroid hacks but when I get them patched to the rom it won't work. It shows like the title screen with Super Metroid and the name of the hack but when I start it the screen goes black and i can hear the music but I can't play or do anything so if anyone can help me with the problem please do. Please and thank you.

It could be a couple things,
Check if your rom has a header, (3072 kb is unheadered, 3073 kb is headered)
If that doesn't help make sure it is a JU rom.
If that doesn't help the rom your using might be dirty.

Just to expand on the above, almost all hacks are designed to work with an unheadered ROM, with the exception of DMantra's, I believe.  Your ROM should be Super Metroid (JU) [!].
