There's quite a bit of underwater venturing involved. There's 4 ways in as far as I know.
The first is to go through the pirate ship out the right side, into Chozodia. From there you can go all the way around to get to Gravity.
Second (which is what I did) is to do a series of underwater shinesparks starting from the Pirate Ship, and going underneath it to come out a few rooms above gravity. It was quite difficult tho, and if you can't pull off quick shinesparks and duck charges, don't even bother. Use savestates. Lots of savestates :P
The third is through the lower part of Chozodia, from Brinstar. You'll need to have beaten Mother Brain I think, to make the barrier go away.
The last way brings you directly to the lower left of Gravity (and is the fastest way in). The entrance is right near the Norfair/Ridley elevator. You need speedbooster.

Those last two aren't going to work, as the 3rd one is a lvl 4 gate, and the last one is a gray door until you fight a boss inside.
And the first one doesn't work until...
...you've beaten mother brain.
It took me 5-6 hours of playing to figure that out :^_^: Lower Chozidia was my favourite area. Better than Maridia because...
...you're in water and don't know if you're really supposed to be there yet, but you descend lower and lower.
I need some help. I have: charge beam, bombs, grappling beam, 9 or 10 missile packs, Varia Suit, and only beaten 1 boss. What am I suppose to do next? Ice beam has a Level 2 lock, a bunch of Super Missiles require super Missiles to get, and I can't get to a certain part of Kraid without Ice Beam

FPzero

If you haven't found your way by now, since you now have Varia, you should explore what areas of Norfair that you can.  I'd start looking around the elevator from Norfair to Crateria.

Vahn54

No, I haven't. The only thing around that elevator that I haven't done is getting to an area that requires super missiles.

FPzero

You should be able to use grapple beam in that elevator room to go into a room below.  In that room where a missile is you should be able to continue onwards even though it looks like a dead end.

Vahn54

Oh yeah, I've been by that. I've went all the way to the Ice Beam. But I can't get the high jump boots because it seems the speed booster is required..

Since this exists now. Anyone gonna take a crack of rigging a version of this hack with these songs? :V

Quietus

You can take a crack at creating the patch yourself.  Otherwise it'd really have to be done by the hack's creator.  If you decide to do it yourself, you should try and contact the creator before you consider distributing it.

Speaking of which, do you know how to contact the guy? He seems to be MIA on his youtube channel.

Quietus

The readme has an e-mail address you could try: skirt_box (at) yahoo.co.jp

Ya know, it didn't even occur to me to check the readme. Thanks, Quietus!

Custom music would make this even better in my opinion. (And removing some of the cheap shot crumble blocks.) I was missing the classic Brinstar depths music, as well as the creepy lower Norfair music from M1.

LReyomeXX

Custom music editing in SMILE is in the works......

Ice beam has a Level 2 lock,

There's only one L2 lock in Norfair, and it is nowhere near the Ice Beam.  I don't know if you're still stuck at this part, but just in case...
If you are actually referring to a L1 Lock at the top-right of Norfair, the Ice Beam is not behind that door.  Look for secret passages.
Hi all, I know this is a bit of a necropost, but I wanted to ask if you guys know whether this hack is compatible with SMILE?
I started playing it a while ago, but there are just some graphics that are kinda half-assed I'd like to change. Not to critisize too much since this is an excellent hack, it's just that some things are a bit sloppy and unprofessional looking. Like the gunship only being a palette swap instead of the one from Zero Mission or the garbled mess that is the background in the Crocomire room.
Thanks.

Smile 2.5 and 2.80 works with opening it, use 2.80 for editing the tiles, and use 2.5 for color palette and gfx importing and exporting.

Steel Sparkle

I have a question.
I have beat this game a few times now but i could never figure out how to get the X-Ray scope on the Pirate ship. I unlocked the first three lasers but i could never get the 4th near the final boss. Is it impossible to unlock all 4 laser beams and collect the X-Ray scope?
First of all, you have to make your way to the storage room at the top of the ship without setting off an alarm.
Start at the bottom-left outdoor area. At the top of that area, the ship can be broken into using a shinespark.  Once you're inside, there's a super missile block at the top-left corner of the room you can break to get back outside.  Once outside again, you have to make your way to the top and avoid the searchlights. It's best to stay low when you get to the searchlights.  Just don't fall too far, or you'll end up at the bottom of the ship.
Once you made it to the storage room in the back, look for a secret room in the back, and navigate the tunnels until you end up in a green laser room near the end of the game.
Enter the nearby Save Station and walk through the back wall.
Assuming you haven't set off an alarm yet, you should be good to go.

Steel Sparkle

Thanks i will do that. I have done it the other way involving Tourian but never at the ship. Anyways thanks for that info :3

So I finally got around to playing this hack, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far, but there's a problem. When I get to the elevator that should take me down to Norfair, the screen goes black. The music continues playing, but I have no visual, and it never loads Norfair.

Is this something that is easily addressed? I'm using ZSNES as an emulator. Is there a better option for this hack?

Which version of ZSNES? Different versions handle differently, and your Video settings might also make a difference. I typically use 1.51 with DS-W mode, as it handles most games and hacks perfectly fine. If a hack is too large for ZSNES to handle (Ultra-large or something like that can't play on ZSNES) I use snes9x.

I was running an older version, so I downloaded 1.51. Same results. I also downloaded snes9x, but for some reason the sound isn't working on it.

EDIT: Got the sound working, but of course the save files are incompatible. So, I guess I'll find out when I get to that elevator if it works now or not.

Having the same exact problem running it on snes9x

EDIT: So I went in the direction of Kraid instead, and had a similar problem (audio continues, video fades to black and stays that way forever) just walking through a door.

Steel Sparkle

Did you apply the patch to a Headerless rom? A clean Rom too? I played this on SNESx9 1.51 and it works perfectly fine.
