Would be awesome if there was a better editor for Samus' sprites, one that arranged the tiles per pose instead of the hopeless garbage we get in tile editors.
Strange. I was thinking the same thing.

Currently Cheesy has a Tile Editing Mode, which is basic tile editing, and then a property editing mode. Setting BTS tile, what kind of tile it is. Does is it horizontal or vertical.... While a big change from SMILE I promise it to be easy and quick to use.

Also recoding the GUI for wxWindows so it could be ran on many operating systems :)

New GUI mock up. :) It'll be wonderful

 Progress! Also, the bts editing on tiles sounds like a nice little touch. :^_^:

interdpth

Removed Lunar Compress support. All compression matters are handled internerally helping to support more than Windows. This is coded with wxWidgets, so it'll be on anything wxWidgets is supported on :)
Expect screenshots this week. Probably just a tileset, may be able to pump out a map

interdpth

Decompression is getting there! Recognizable shapes, have some odd problems I need to crack, will update soon!

Instead of having to tick a box to edit tiles, which is 95% of what you want to do, can you not just make it the default, and you can select if you want to edit properties?

Qactis

Hotkeys for everything inter that's the way to do it.

I'm glad that the development is planning to run it on multiple operating systems (anything that supports wxWindows), but I hope it's not in some strange code that causes problems on Linux (like I have running SMILE through Wine).

interdpth

It'll be compiled on linux. Compiled on mac. Compiled on Windows.

Now where would you guys like the tileset to be? Like smile under the room, or to the right of the room, or too the left of the room or above the room? This us up to you guys? So not doing docking windows.

Qactis

Under like everyone is used to

Small scrollbar problem I'm sure you're aware of on the tileset window. I was going to suggest and option to let the user place the window where they want it. I.E., check boxes for top, bottom, left, and right as I know people are used to bottom, some may want right, and I would want left. Other than that, you're looking good there! What all's left (probably a lot lol)?

I'd rather have it to one of the sides, as you then don't have to scroll through the tileset.  Personally, I'd say on the right, with the BTS / clipboard stuff above it as we're used to.

check it out, my 1st post  I'm planning on making a hack using your SM editor, and this will be my first SM hack, I did like using SMILE, but it's kinda limited in terms of certain things for me because I CAN NOT FIND A GOOD SMILE TUTORIAL! ugh!!! If anybody can show me one (the ones on youtube DO NOT GET IT STRAIGHT ENOUGH TO ME :stern:) does anybody feel like helping me, I want to learn fast, too. EDIT: killing my first post so don't wonder where it went :P EDIT 2:apparently I can't find the "kill" button for the post  :whoa:

Yup.

It's probably the thing that always annoyed me most with SMILE.  Having to scroll down to the actual tiles was irritating, and it was made worse by having the CRE at the top, which are (for me, at least) actually used a lot less than you'd think, and certainly a lot less than the main tileset.

The reason CRE is on top is because of the tiletable. It's not a preference of the editor. It's how the game works.
