What's ypur favourite Metroid game?

I like games that push towards the upper-right quadrant of this chart.



Unfortunately, while the other three corners are relatively easily obtainable in theory, making a game with maximal vibes and mechanics is an absurdly difficult problem, because it's very easy to make a decision in the service of one of those things that undermines the other (also making good games in general is pretty hard tbqh).

Super Metroid (not vanilla) because some romhacks have Barf Kraid.

Most likely Zero Mission for me. It is definitely the one I played the most for the normal game, with only Super maybe pushing that thanks to romhacks.

I think super is the best all around, but my top 3 are SM, Fusion, ZM.

I like SM's graphics, balance & freedom, ZM's speed & instant start, and Fusion's enemies & beam mechanics. Music is tied between SM and Fusion for me. I like Fusion's simpler equipment set. I also prefer gbatroid controls in general
