I used a tool called Discord History Tracker to do this. https://dht.chylex.com/
The smaller archives are HTML files which have the chat logs and a chat log viewer that's pretty similar to discord. If you are connected to the internet It'll embed links and attachments.
The 9.31GB full archive is a full DHT database that can be opened with the DHT program itself or with SQL stuff. That's about all I know, I'm not well versed in databases sorry.

IRC has no logging so I don't understand why switching was a mistake? Esp as someone has to own the server the channel is on,  etc. But you put full databases out instead of scripting something to glean the information. At least Discord has easy to search history. Not sure how useful this chunk. Did you put them on internet archive?

zbot held onto logs. your irc client does too if you enable it, just not when you're disconnected.

Esp as someone has to own the server the channel is on,  etc.

Centralization is convenient, until it's not when it shuts down and everything is gone.

I put out one database, the html files are fragments of that database with a built-in viewer: the "scripting something to glean the information." Like discord it lets you search history and even attachments will embed.

Did you put them on internet archive?

No I have not. I consider archival of this stuff important for this community, but the overall internet as a whole outside of metconst probably wouldn't care.
