Completed the normal game with 99%, in 12 hours lol

I have questions regarding secret stuff
Where is the hint regarding the demo reel?

I read about it here... so I see the green door in the demo reel... but scoured Life Temple and cannot find that room.  Is it only accessible in Hard mode?

What is different in Hard mode?

Does completing all the challenges unlock something?
To answer some of your questions:
The green door's somewhere in the Ancient Shaft within the Fire Temple, not in the Life Temple. Enter from the Life Temple, go left from there. Poke around the left hand side of the shaft with supers just above where you use power bombs to blast through the busted statue. Difficulty doesn't matter, still accessible.

makes much more sense for space port ridley to barf ketchup so he could instakill samus
Ahh thank you.
I watched the demo reel a few times and finally saw a green door in one of the clips, but it was in a room in Life Temple... a room I couldn't find.

I suppose now it's time to turn the power off and try to find those animals  :bounce:
**Edit**
I saved the animals, got the next hint... where is Dawn?

I read a hint about Dawn in the small secret room that becomes replaced by the GPS Daphne after it crashes.
The hint was 3/4 of a heart.
The hint is lost on me, though.

I'd love to see what this all leads to, but don't have the patience to scour the entire game again looking for Dawn
DonnyDonovan

Location of Dawn:
Icy area, Ice temple I think, near where you find Ridley and Phantoon
Excellent, thank you!  The hints all make sense now, but some went over my head.
Just started the 2nd quest  :bounce:

This rom hack is absolutely stunning
DonnyDonovan

I'm doing the same.  I'm sure I won't finish it but I'm going to get as far as I reasonably can.

Just want to clarify something for anyone else who, like me, saw comments about the 2nd quest which suggested that "springball glitch" was required.
It's not.
Well, it may be needed to escape a permastuck situation after leaving the Space Pirate lab via the lower left, then possibly falling into a hole too deep to jump out of.
Anyway, I spent a fair chunk of time trying to springball glitch a couple areas thinking it was required, time wasted I could have been trying to progress normally.
Gravity glitch is required in one scenario, though, jumping through a door into water filled room.

On the plus side - now I know how to springball glitch FWIW
Just to clarify a little further as I'm the one that started the confusion... the springball jump would only be necessary if you enter the gravity jump room without picking up bombs beforehand, and then proceed to a point where you can't get back otherwise.  As long as you're checking the major upgrade locations as they become available you'll find the bombs before this sequence, and the whole thing is a non-issue.

My Subversion map is ready.
I used Ambureon's map as a ''Project Base'' because the game is huge and Ambureon's work is reliable and precise.
So thank you Ambureon for your passion in the process of making nice maps and thank you drb for your support.
If you see unacuracy or omissions please tell me and I will update.
I don't have to tell you that the map is full of spoilers so I will tell you anyway.

what if pedro123 made a halfhack of subversion

TobiMikami

Bruh a half hack of Subversion would damn near be a full hack in comparison to SM, at least like a 2/3rds hack at avsomtue worst. Subversion probably wins the world record for biggest SM hack room count wise. I don't think Redesign and Eris were even close to Subversion now that external maps are out for it.

I'm so lost on the 2nd quest  :O_o:
It seems like I can't get anywhere at this point without Supers, Grapple, or Speed Booster.

Have: Missiles, PBs, Dark Visor, XRay, Ice, Wave, Plasma, Aqua Suit, and Thermal suit.

A hint would be appreciated
RT-55J

Oooh. Sounds like you're about to do the Good Part.

Hint #1:
You might want to collect as much ammo and energy as you can.
Hint #2:
There are some hidden screw blocks to traverse a certain room in reverse.
Hint #3:
Take an acid bath.
**edit**
Ok, the door I thought was a green door (it sure looks green in the acid), is in fact Orange.

I feel good that I was on the right track, but just overlooked that :P  thanks for the hints!

I'm a little bit confused about getting the Speed Booster in 2nd Quest
I believe I have all possible E-Tanks (12 tanks total).
I'm using savestate abuse like crazy... abusing luck to collect life drops wherever it doesn't cost time, etc.  I have it at like TAS optimization, yet I am touching the Speed Booster item with single digit HP.

It seems like crystal flash doesn't work (?)   So how the heck is this possible?
RT-55J

Crystal Flash should just require 100 ammo (10 for the PB + 90 for actually using it).

altoiddealer

I'll admit, I've never actually done Crystal Flash before.  I've completed a lot of hacks, it was never required.

I'm in morphball holding L + R (shoulder buttons), Down on D-Pad, then laying a PB while continuing to hold the fire button.  I have <50 hp.  Nothing happens.
Are Supers required to do it?  Bc it's to my understanding those are not possible to have at this point
RT-55J

You need to keep holding all the buttons involved to get it to work (L + R + Down + Shot).
Supers are not required to CF in this hack.
Thanks - definitely some technical issue happening then... I need to check DS4Windows and see if it's messing something up with L+R. Emulator doesn't seem to have an option for that...

**Edit** yep, as it turns out there is a dumb and seemingly unfixable glitch with Windows' xinput drivers. The L and R triggers are recognized as being opposite values of the same axis, so they just cancel each other out.  I use DS4Windows with my PS4 controller, which uses xinput...

In SNES9x I temporarily remapped the triggers to other buttons, and Crystal Flash worked.

DonnyDonovan

I hope you finish!  I've gotten as far as I care to go (just got aqua suit and power bombs) as required infinite bomb jumps or crystal flashes in hacks are kind of deal-breakers for me, but, I love the idea of a second quest.

altoiddealer

Almost done with it... and figured out that I just needed to assign L + R commands to my L1/R1 buttons (crystal flash wouldn't work assigned to L2/R2)

I have some feedback...
Feedback regarding 2nd quest:
-I'm almost done with this and still haven't found High Jump boots.
They should really be available earlier on... just for QOL.  There's just so many tedious little IBJs needed in so many places.
-Before having Grapple, with the generated activated... entering the generator zone via the mines and going through the security interlock room... is a softlock.  It leads to a grapple lock. The security interlock room is a one-way.
-Collecting charge beam without grapple, is a softlock.
-There's a pit next to the lower left of the pirate ship, which is a softlock without aqua suit - unless you are able to "springball glitch."
-It always irks me slightly when there is a dry room, then a water filled room next door. I know vanilla had one after blasting the tube, but the level design at least made it feel like the water is still well contained by those little rooms (containment locks?).  The glitch/gimmick to get through the room, doesn't bother me, just the concept as I detailed.
-I think there should be an E-tank, or some other means of replenishing health than crystal flash, at some point of the long acid run.  Still a struggle to get to, like maybe that room with the 2 grabby guys.
-It would be nice if there was a means to easily return to the cargo transit after doing that big IBJ... before doing allll the other work to get speed booster.  I had fully explored Sky Temple, Vulnar Peaks, and pretty much all of the power station, but was then compelled several times to check back for stuff I thought I missed.... I've done that IBJ at least 6 times prior to aquiring speed booster.
-All other frustration inducing routing, etc, seem fair enough :bounce:
:bounce:
