If you're  having trouble with diagonals, keep in mind they are and function almost exactly the same as a normal bomb jump. The only difference is you need to be on the right or left of the bomb explosion, and hold either left or right when jumping. A little practice will go a long way.

you're assuming I can perfectly execute vertical infinite/double bombjumps, which I also cannot. I'm really sorry if I sound entitled or whiny, but I'm having a lot of trouble with getting things that are all about timing correctly done. Which is why I was asking for this one minor change.

My biggest gripe is mostly with locations that are really a pain to get to if you fail the bombjump once, like the room right of the elevator in norfair or the vanilla varia room, where in both there are bombable blocks underneath where you're supposed to do the bomb jump, also, even worse is the ridley path in upper norfair where there are crumbing blocks directly underneath the entry, which also has to be opened up with a missile. If I fail this jump, I have to walk the entire icebeam tunnel again, just to attempt it once more. And this is what I mean with "it gets frustrating".

I do have another find, I have gotten myself softlocked in the longbeam room today, with having charge beam being there, and screw attack in the vanilla first missile container.

I'm starting to see why you didn't have fixed requirements for long beam's items before. In any case thanks for the romhack and the update.

Hello all o/

Should have done this sooner but I kept forgetting!

I've made a web-based tracker for randomiser that players can use either when streaming or offline, to keep track of the items collected as they play. It's been up on the Zero Mission speedrunning Discord for a few weeks now and I've been meaning to post it here but kept forgetting.

You can download the latest version here -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c5GKbUyiuGio-_L7QyC43EYMRWImnbRg/view, or I've also attached it to this post.

There are different styles of tracker from a fancy-looking one that uses the same graphics as the ZM Status Screen, to a simple style in 3x5, 4x4 or 5x3 blocks.

Simply extract the .zip wherever you like and then run the "launcher.html" file to see instructions and the various ones you can use. If you want to use it while streaming, you can just use Window Capture, or failing that the OBS Browser Source.

If I update it I'll post it here, or if anyone has any suggestions let me know and I'll see what I can do.  :^_^:

That actually can be completed. I've done it before.

If you'd like, I can put this on the same website where the randomizer is hosted.

I've PM'd you an invite.

To add on to what Anyway said,

Maybe have difficulty options:

Easy- higher chance of Speed booster, Power Grip, etc. in the early power up locations

Normal- What we have now.

samthedigital

There's an option to leave some items in their vanilla location if you really can't live without Power Grip or some other item. An easy mode doesn't sound that interesting. If you're finding a lot of good items early there's not going to be as much variance, and there won't be as much incentive to play more than once or twice.

OneOf99

You can beat the game with bare essentials. You just have to have some skilled wall jumps and bomb jumps. I remember that I once had power grip spawn in the pre-Mecha laser puzzle :(

Axodo

After a month playing the rando, I'm finally posting here. Huge thanks for this, I have a lot of fun with it. I love it, thanks a lot

Very nice stuff, I heard you're considering a version that avoids soft-locks which is neat because that's the kind of Randomizer I like to play most. After giving the current version a few tries I've come up with 3 suggestions:

1) An option to limit how late the Power Grip upgrade can be placed, in my current run it's placed in the dangerous Chozodia Ruins. Why do I suggest this option? It will help avoid the need to perform tedious multi-bomb jumps to reach tunnels. The game annoyingly cuts your upwards momentum short the instant you try to enter Morph Ball form during a jump which makes it difficult/impossible to jump & morph-ball in to several tunnels in the game, making the multi-bomb jump method the main viable method of accessing these tunnels.

Alternatively an option to stop morph ball transformation from cutting short your jump height.

Your jump momentum is also weirdly cut short if you exit a Spin Jump by shooting.

2) An option to have the Ice Beam placed in or before Norfair to prevent the player from being unable to backtrack without acquiring Screw Attack. This would also be beneficial for those seeking a significantly easier experience since it gives them the ability to freeze enemies of course.

3) Append the Seed number to the file name.

You are able to make any item of your choosing not randomize if you can't live without it. The README explains how to do so I believe.

If you have Supers you can kill the rippers and leave norfair.

Nicholas Steel

I'd still like the items to be randomized, just with some control in what areas the logic would discount when deciding where to place them. I understand this isn't simple to implement.

I mean you said it yourself. Personally I'd rather more MAGE than just the rando improvements, and the logic is not something easy to change in the slightest (especially with stuff like this)

Nicholas Steel

What do you mean by MAGE?

MetroidNerd#9001

MAGE is the editor for the GBA Metroid Games. It is the equivalent of SMILE for Super Metroid, or Editroid for NEStroid.

This, but MAGE is a much easier and more stable editor to use than SMILE

Nicholas Steel

Here you go (I verified this generates the same Seed, Settings and item placement values in the spoiler log). I can't attach a image file so I had to compress it in to an archive.

Cpt.Glitch

You only need morph, missiles, and bombs to beat the game. (Minus the items in the unknown items locations, as those need to be grabbed to progress in certain spots.) So judging from the log you posted, it should be completeable.

Nicholas Steel

While that is true (I can access Mecha Ridley now if I wanted), if you looked at the image you'll see I chose the option for 100% completion being possible.

Edit: It's been 1 year and I find my next couple of posts baffling to me.

Turns out there's a problem with my item requirements for the item in the lava after the chozo ghost fight. If you don't have gravity, you need power grip and hi-jump to reach it. The hi-jump requirement is missing. I'll fix this in the next version.
