What's actually the story of the hack?
Does it have any plot at all?

IIRC, the story (at least for v0.3) is based off of the intro of Metroid Prime 3.  In MP3, you see Dark Samus breaking out of a container, and that's it.  Nothing is mentioned on how she escaped her predicament in order to eventually encounter Samus on Norion.  This hack fills in that gap to some degree (at least the escape part).  You play as Dark Samus, starting from the capsule and working your way to becoming stronger, until you can escape the planet you are on.

I really liked the visuals in v0.3, and the changes I've read about so far seem very interesting.  This might become one of my top-3 favorite hacks.  I look forward to seeing v0.4.

This is one of my top 3 too  :^_^: Im dying to see 0.4. I can't wait to see what it brings to the table.

I had to stop working on this for 2 months. I started working on it again on Monday. I have tons of color palettes to do, enemy pop for dark and light worlds, PLM placement for both realites, and a long list of small fixes. then much testing.

Steel Sparkle

Thanks for the update Red. No rush. A lot of people are looking forward to this when it get's done. Take all the time you need.

Thirteen1355

Light/Dark?!

That sounds pretty neat! So there are two different maps?

MetroidX

Yeah, this Hack is looking to be very promising. Can't wait!!!!!
Btw, is there any way we can donate to some of these hackers? They deserve it. Especially Red's Phazon. It's my favorite hack. Wouldn't mind donating to Red for providing us with such awesome hacks!

A_red_monk_called_Key

yes and no. yes the dark world is like MP2, and no nothing like that. D-Samus enters a portal [looks like suit up-grade] and zap-bam DS is in the dark world. in the light world you will see the out-of-phaze item flashing, then all you have to do is find a portal and heat run to get it. [SM Phazon 0.4 will just have a palette change for the dark world. 0.5 will have full on new custom GFX]

im in a bit of a hurry to get this done so people know what to expect form Alt. M

Never played the Prime games.
Have played Super on Snes, Fusion on Gba.

Nowadays I use *gulp!* emulators.
First emulator game I completed was Zero Mission, despite the fact I didn't remember anything from the Super Metroid I had played on Snes.
So, I only have completed the 2D Metroids (except for the original one). Played the Eris hack, and was planning to play this one. But should I wait for the next update (0.4) or just go play 0.3?

Play 0.3. It's really good and it may be some time before 0.4 is released plus 0.4 seems like it's gonna be plenty different from 0.3. So yea play it first.

Thirteen1355

That answer will do!

Phazon 0.3 is the only SM hack I have seen that qualifies as kind of a sequel to SM.
I have tried applying the Gameplay only patch from Project Base 0.7.2, and so far it is working really well.

Quietus

Be aware that Project Base is not designed to be used with other hacks, so if you're playing through Phazon, you may run into permastucks or bugs if you reach areas you're not supposed to be in yet.

Thirteen1355

I will test it.
If there are any errors, I can just switch to the normal Phazon hack.

Wow, the controls of Super Metroid are so bad.

MetroidX

I would recommend playing 0.3 as well. I recall 0.3 had major differences than 0.2, and though I enjoy 0.3 far more, 0.2 was still solid and enjoyable. It seems that each new version is different and better. So yeah, highly recommend it.

Also, let us know your thoughts as you progress into the game.

One more thing: This music patch works 100% on Phazon Hack!

EDIT:
I got stuck in Phazon Hack (without the gameplay patch)! Just after I got the X Ray Vision, Dark S has to fall through the floor with Speed Booster. But I fell too far, and got stuck as the Speed blocks returned. Right and up was a wall, and left and under me were Speed blocks. But I couldn't build speed. So...
Hope the explanation isn't too vague. I have attached an image.

So far, the hack is really nice!

A Dummy

I think I had gotten stuck in that exact same spot when I played this.

Steel Sparkle

As for your spot i have no idea if you can get out.. maybe wall jump out? For what to do in the X RAY room please click the spoiler.
Actually in the X-Ray room you are supposed to grab the X-Ray then get a speed boost going then charging a shinespark. You must do this BEFORE hitting all those speed booster blocks (shoot up from there)  and then shoot UP. you will then continue to a super Missile pack and then you shine spark up the little tube above it to leave that room.
Yeah it's a perma-stuck. I encountered it awhile ago and posted about it myself so hopefully @A_red_monk_called_Key caught it and fixed it

Err, the wall goes on until the roof.

Pretty sure music patches work with all hacks

Well, I have not played many hacks, but the ones I've played (Ice Metal, Phazon and Eris) are pretty advanced. Only Phazon of these three can use this patch, and none of three can use patches that alter not only the instrumentation, but whole songs.

Or maybe rather a sequel to Fusion? Maybe, since Fusion is Super Metroid's actual sequel. I think, though, Phazon more fits the idea of it being a Super Metroid redesign + adding some Prime titles' ideas.  :pwuh:

A_red_monk_called_Key

im working on an instruction manual, here are some of the different doors

Thirteen1355

Oh, looks neat!

But I hope the doors are used in a way your missiles aren't being drained just before a part with a boss/strong enemies.  :bounce:

MetroidX

Hey Red, looking good! At first I couldn't tell the difference between both green doors, but then I saw the metal cap in front of the super missile door. Tbh, some of these door requirements sound confusing but I am sure it will  be quick to pick up once we start to play. A little originality always helps!

PKstarship

One thing I can't help but nitice is how normal Samus is in those pictures instead of Dark Samus. Will normal Samus be playable in Phazon Hack 4.0 or something like that?

Now you say it...

Are there actually some new abilities in this version of Phazon Hack?

I'd love to see some powerful beam item in here (À la Phazon Beam).

Steel Sparkle
Phazon beam was in 0.3  :^_^:
