I felt exactly like you said. MONTHS have passed until I've found the 99th percent in Super Metroid and found it accidently (when I gave up already). Only few years after that I saw the 100% run under 1:30. Unfinded item was in turtle room in Maridia.

Yeah, never found 100% by myself. Nothing will change this.
