Physics changes, or no?

No walljumping
Walljumping
Increase gravity(fall faster, etc)
Keep Vanilla Physics(normal SM)
1, but 4
3, but 2
Change both(1, 3)
No physics changes(2, 4)

Now, just make those hatches a solid color, and BAM! The stain is gone! But wait!

Definitely looking much better.

Billy Mays reference?

Anyway, yes. The doors are looking a lot better than before. I wouldn't say a solid color, but if you're looking for a more original feel take away the shiney-ness. Your hack though, so whatever! ^.^

Finished Tourian today, so here's your first poll:
1. Where should the final Save Station be located?
2. Should there be a Missile Recharge before MB, or would you like it as challenging as in the original?  (Personally, I may keep the original difficulty.)

Original is the shit.
No recharge stations, I want a challenge :)

Phazar

Sorry I haven't been updating in a while, but there is plenty that I am still working on.  Here's a pic of how I'm retro-ifying Ridley's hideout:

The left side is obviously the changed area.

personitis

That looks pretty good. Is ther transition between teh first screen and the rest actually going to be that sudden or are you just showing how it will be retro-fied compared to before?

Phazar

Topic Revival Time!  I have a brand new Norfair tileset!

I still need to add a new BG, but other than that, this room is done.

zephyrtronium

I like that a lot; it legitimately looks like an update to the original NES tileset to me. Very nice.

You know those tiles already are in the game, right?

Not exactly.  One of the tiles I had to remove part of to get it to look like it did in Metroid 1.  After that, I had to reconstruct all three tiles in TLP in a way that their palette would resemble M1's purple tiles.  It was more complicated than some people may think, although I'm pretty glad to have my first ever major GFX work done.

I don't remem-OH WAIT THAT PART. Carry on, then.

Edit: there was a pagebreak I didn't see. Now I know that there was some GFX work done in there! :3

Samus-Aran

wow i must have this rom hack

Phazar

Goodbye, Orange Brinstar.  Meet Gold Brinstar.

Samus-Aran

you rock dude i wish i had that kind of skill

personitis

Holy... brinstar. That golden Brinstar pic is golden. It's awsome.

zephyrtronium

That reminds me so much of the time I replaced "Brinstar" with "Beerstar" in MZM.

Phazar

RealRed

Alright, you fixed the background. Took you long enough :p
Anyway, I'd like to say that this is now *finally* starting to look like metroid 1
Good job.

Phazar

I have now given that room I posted earlier in this topic a makeover with my new Brinstar tileset.  Left is old, right is new:

Lunaria

Looks much better. But please add the end part of those CRE pipes, it looks weird.

Phazar

New door bubbles, drawn once again by GFX master GF_Kennon.

snarfblam

The door bubble looks kinda jaggy. Like the way the blue bubbly rocks look, though. The depth and texture make em look much less kakary than the NES version.
