Awwwwww yeah. Super Metroid Rise topic, baby. Screenshots were taken at various stages of this hack's creation, and probably will differ from the final product. Same goes for the trailer.

Progress: Mostly done. Still need to make rooms for Crateria, then add save stations throughout the game, finish placing/editing enemies, editing palettes/tweaking GFX where needed. No exact ETA, but it won't be a stupidly long wait.

Water in the Wrecked Ship, that's good news to me. Seems to make sense that it would contain some water considering its location on Zebes and its current state of disrepair.

Oh god, I'm getting bad vibes from those larva Metroids in the trailer. As in they remind me of a certain variant that's only been referenced (not encountered firsthand) in the main games at this point, but one I know is entirely possible to make in because I've been able to do it before. Actually, I'm sort of hoping I'm right about them and their color scheme isn't just for show. Having deadly Metroids is almost always a plus in my book.

Some interesting stuff all around though. Will have to keep my eye on this one. That Spore Spawn battle looks pretty interesting too because it took a second viewing of the trailer to notice that it's not sitting directly over a floor like it always is.

About the blue metroids and spore spawn:
[spoiler]The small blue ice metroids? I wouldn't call them deadly (no more than most of the other enemies), but they *are* immune to being frozen. And yeah, you're right about Spore Spawn. His door is now about 10 screens further down than it usually is. :D If you skip space jump, you could have a really hard time dealing with him.[/spoiler]

Metroids:
[spoiler]Yeah, the immunity to ice like the Sector Zero Metroids from Other M is what I thought of when I saw the color scheme. Now that I think about it though, that's easy enough to do with edited Mocktroids or some other enemy type that you most likely turned into these things seeing as they're way too small to be edits of the larger Metroids.

Although... if you wanted to do something similar with the larger Metroids (the original SM ones) I know a way you could do it rather easily, if you're interested. They wouldn't be immune to ice, but they'd still resist it for as long as you want before being frozen.[/spoiler]

By rather easily you mean just setting Speed2? :/ That is pretty damn easy.

To be honest I didn't know if many people had discovered it before because it's not something I've seen that often in hacks, and I don't remember reading anything here or with SMILE itself that has said you could even do that with Metroids.

Should've known better based on what site I'm currently posting on, though. Don't mind me.

There's a lot of hidden gems in enemy AI stuffs.  Like how you can make Zeb into Zebbo (and vice versa) with Speed value in SMILE (will work with either enemy since they use the same init. and running AI).

Took an unintended break from Rise for a bit, but still plan on having it out soon. Picked it at a bit last night and fixed up a few things and will hopefully get to dive into more room building tonight or tomorrow.

this one looks promising. (much like PB, but with different rooms)

i'd have to say that i'm not a fan of the orange NES metroid looking tiles.
(in the trailer from :26 to :28)
they just don't seem to fit with the rest of the hack.

nice work though, you always make good hacks, IMO.

The room looks a bit too mechanical compared to the BG. It's good that the FG sticks out from the BG, but it would be nice of they had a closer resemblance.
