You rule Crys!!!
Missing X-ray, ice beam and screw attack. Nice last boss battle, got raped by him about 3 times before i thought to try plasma+power bombs, Overall this is the best hack that I've played so far, very fun. I didn't find any bugs, you might be able to get stuck above ridley if you use all your power bombs. I noticed a save room near the start that changes the music to the zebes awake. I think there is some mini-map bugs but I was pretty tired last night.
I think that everyone should play this.

Lunaria

Daltone: Nice to hear you liked it. Also, about ridly, pro tip: you can't get stuck above him! :P

Coryen: I did design that area so you CAN get out of it without the use of walljumping, sure there are some tricky jumps, but the lava should be hint enough that you're not supposed to go down there without gravity suit. (Though, nothing stops you after the gray hatch goes away.)

Bond697: Try exploring more and you will find it eventually.

Coryen

Heh, Walljumping; Odd I didn't try it. I assumed, with the lava physics the way they were, that I wouldn't gain any height. Doh! Did it in one try once you mentioned it.
This confused me too.
It isn't there. Try another area, and come back for those later. (At least, I think thats what I did; But I also got stuck under lava and tried everything BUT wall-jumping, so what do I know.)
Just keep exploring all the areas, and try to find places to use your new powerups, or rooms you didn't fully explore.
SirAileron

I beat the hack, and I'm now looking for items. Good stuff, man!
So, I found all of Samus's suit upgrades. Screw Attack was by far the trickiest to get, but it was interesting that you used that specific physics error to make it obtainable. Also, it was sad that some rooms have morph-ball tunnel areas that can't be x-rayed to be seen.

I've got 210 missiles, 40 Supers, 40 power bombs, and I might be missing one energy tank. I'll have to beat the game again and see.
Exploration does NOT mean run around in the same general area for a long period of time looking for a solution where there is not a problem. :/
i meant the first trip under lava.  making that second one lava trip was ridiculous, but i did it only to find almost nothing there. i just found the wave beam by accident, though, so i think i'm fine. thank you, i appreciate it.
i never said i was stuck walking around one area.  walking through the same sets of rooms in different areas for a little more than an hour
because i didn't think someone would go as far as to make me run through lava
is ridiculous.

outside of that, though, it's been fraking great and extremely enjoyable. i also like the fact that the monsters aren't stronger.

e: why is there a word filter?

Except the game does not force you to go into the lava at all. That entire area is 100% optional. :/

Great news on the release, Crys.  I know it's been a looong time coming!

I'm getting on fine now, as I reverted to an earlier saved, but I think I got permastuck.  I'll try to describe it clearly.
In the large room above and to the left of your ship, there's a long row of spikes with a small tunnel underneath.  I went through other parts of the hack, and got into this tunnel but couldn't get out.  Everything seemes blocked, and I felt I bombed everywhere for tile weaknesses.  I fell in from the top right-hand corner, couldn't jump back out as the water was too high...
Ive gotten along pretty well so far, except one question. am i supposed to kill the turtle in deep ice? Sorry if i sound like a noob, just haven't played sm in a few years.

I give some thoughts on it later. I have a lot more exploration to do first.

Lunaria

There is no way to kill the turtle as far as I know.

Hiroshi Mishima

I am surprised people are getting stuck in that area under the lava. As Crys said, the fact that there's lava there should have warned you it might be a bad idea to venture down there without the Varia and/or High Jump Boots. While I did personally go down there, and did get stuck, I didn't complain but explored the area finding a great many items that, in turn, helped me later on when I'd gotten back out.

Ice Metal is a game that, in my opinions, puts the emphasis on exploration. And there is a credo that goes with exploration: Do it at your own risk. One of the reasons that so many people these days whine about non-linear games is that you can get into areas you shouldn't be in yet cause you're not ready for. Some people can handle it just fine, others can't. Hence the credo of exploration. If you see an area that looks like you may have trouble in it, leave and come back later.

This game really isn't meant to be OMG HELL RUN and other such ridiculous challenges.. unless that's what you like. On an unrelated note...
Never did find the Screw Attack. I'll need to go through the game later and see if I can eventually track it down. I'm glad that others managed to find it.
Personally, I love how non-linear this game is, and it allows you to explore all over regardless if you're ready for it or not. But it always seems to have a way out if you find yourself in over your head. Also, don't always expect the Item Progression to follow that of Super Metroid.

I think to celebrate (as a prior beta tester), I'll take an entirely different route than the last 3 different routes I took last time.

Best hack of 2010
Took me ages to get it even though I knew where it was. Requires an ability (quite easy to pull off) but it was new to me and I've been at this shit for nearly 4 years.
Hiroshi Mishima

Hate to post again already, but DM ninja'd me somehow. Having been a Beta Tester for the last phase, I'll have to decide what route I'm going to take myself. That's the other reason I enjoy this hack so much, as it allows for variations on your gameplay since you don't have to do everything the same way twice.

@DM for ninja'ing again.
You're right, I should try looking at it from a different playing style. I noticed a couple of items were obtained by means I'd have never thought of to do normally.
finally, i think i see it.
and, no, i wasn't talking about that second trip in the lava.  it was hard, but not super difficult once you realize you can wall jump.

are there any blocks in here that fool the x-ray visor?  just wondering if i can look around with that or if i have to bomb.
Lunaria

Stop being a moron Bond, in all my posts I have said that, that is NOT the area you should go in. Either learn to read or get the fuck off my topic. I'm getting tired about you bitching on me about your lack of reading skills.

Edit: And now you edited that part of your post out, just great.

Bond697

i'm not.  i think you're talking about one area and i'm talking about another.  i'm talking about finding your way down there in the first place, not the area with the longer run through lava.

Lunaria

No, we are talking about the exact same thing. Going to the lower area of upper steamfair is 100% optional, same goes for the whole lower steamfair area. Not to mention it's possible to get up and out without high jump as well as walljumping. :/

Bond697

fine, done.  if it's completely optional then prompting the player doesn't matter.

so.. any blocks that fool the x-ray?

Chozunsda
Does killing Phan open any doors later on? If not im just going to take the power bomb and leave. </3 that boss.
Hi, i've been playing this on my Wii for the last hour and have been having a blast so far, i've been playing it with kejardons control freak and i noticed that the boost ball doesn't work when used with that patch. I was wondering if the boost ball is a required item for beating the game or getting 100% or if i could just use the mockball instead.

Also, i found a geometry glitch. (not sure if you know about this one yet or not, it doesn't seem to be game breaking though.)

I was able to jump right into this wall.

Afterwards this neat little graphics glitch happens.

One other thing, i'm not sure if this should be considered a glitch or not, but i found a cool trick i can do with the new underwater physics. If you midair morph then start spamming bombs you will descend very very slowly and you can travel quite far horizontally with it. =D

Again, thanks for this wonderful hack, i will continue to play it today and i'll let you know if i find anything else.

Did I just found a sequence break?

After this point, I'm perma-stuck because I don't have power bomb.

Edit: I found another perma-stuck glitch.
