Yes, the level designing is good. If you look at it right, sorry if the obv. again, but it looks like he was inspired by Redesign. not that I care, it just looks familiar.

Quietus

Inspired by?  If I recall, this is the hack that basically ripped it all, bomb timer and everything included, and we were whinging at the start?

X-tradyte

never know, he could've taken it. and reworked it. heh, as far as I'm concerned, this is just an awesome hack

DS: Read the beginning of the topic.

few days I publish a patch of super metroid zeran with the normal abilities... sorry for the patch with redesign abilities...  :^_^:
oh.....lol, thats odd....oty Quietus.

Maybe I'm the only one to think this, but the palettes and design of rooms and seams along walls seemed a little less than fully inspired to me, like they were constructed very quickly rather than taking enough time to fully realize them or to consider which would be the best tiles for a given location. No, I don't expect all hacks to be amazing (and I sure recognize how little time I'd ever have for even attempting a full hack, so huge props to anyone who tries), but Pantheon didn't take any huge leaps either, but was still really interesting IMO, and seemed planned-out and like someone might actually build areas like that.

I really like the huge size of the maps (a LOT of game here, evidently), and so perhaps future updates will build immensely from this, and the difficulty will be ramped up as well. That Torizo was ridiculously easy, hehe.

So, that was a fun game. I ran around like an idiot shooting and bombing every crevice looking for random items, and when I took the elevator to Norfair, it took me a full 4 minutes to realize it was the same thing xD omg spike traps, but those happen, lol. The Chozo WAS rather easy...meh. Good game, I'll play more when you release more :)

New Patch!!

Alexi Laiho

Hello everyone, we wanted to say that the game is not dead, we took a little break for the exams of the school .. However, now we'll go ahead and publish soon some patches

Cloud20

Okay, good luck for exams.
Waiting for patches and updates of your hack  :^_^:

JAM

Oh, wow! This map is huge... I like it!

personitis

Wow, that is a gigantic map. It does fit on the in-game map yea? Now that I see just how huge this hack is going to be, I'm a lot more interested in it and what's to come in the future.

Charmander106

OMG A Huge map! Very exciting! And I'm not being sarcastic!

Alexi Laiho

Hello everyone,
First off, I wanted to apologise to you all for the misunderstandings we had when creating this hack (including the one at the beginning of the game on "Super Metroid Redesign". Next, I would like to thank you again, JAM, for the great help you are giving us. As you would have noticed, I am not one to write much on the forums or to answer many questions. The problem is that I am Italian and so not the best at English. Unfortunately, I have to use Google Translate, which can often translate what I want to say badly so, to avoid misunderstandings, I prefer to not answer at all. For now, I just intend to post some photos or trailers of our game on the forum.
Now allow me to move on to some things regarding the game. Not too long ago, I said that I would publish a beta but I don't intend to anymore because my friend and I are focusing instead on the final areas of the game (Tourian, Polaris and Aelias) so we are leaving Norfair and Maridia to do last. Because of this, if we did publish a beta, it would be the same as the one published previously, as the player would freeze at the same point. However if we continue working as we are, the game should be finished by 2013 or 2014 (I'm talking about the design) then we have to see how long it takes JAM to create the skills (but there's no rush =) )

Thank you!
Alexi Laiho and Zeran

Either Google translate did a fantastic job, or your English is much better than you think it is.  Either way, you have nothing to worry about in getting your point across. :^_^:

Qactis

Echoing what Quietus said, that English is actually pretty good. So if that's you typing Italian into Google Translate and it producing what I just read, then the Italian to English plug-in is fantastic. Anyways, I understand why you feel it is sketchy to use Google Translate. I have had a small amount of contact with the administrator of the Japan Super Metroid Wiki, and I do feel like a retard because I know that Japanese to English translation in Google Translate is garbage. He was very polite though, so I think we have a mutual understanding since his English was just as bad :D . My best advice is: don't be afraid to use a translator if you need to post here or ask a question, or whatever, people here will be understanding that you do not speak English. It's better that you communicate poorly, than not communicate at all. Good luck with your hack!

Edit: Fuck yeah Children of Bodom  :heheh:

I have been playing the 'latest' version of your hack (the only whose ips size is 594kb). It looks great however I am stuck after I beat spore spawn. None of the passage ways lead to anywhere. Their is a grey door in a room filled with the vegatation spikes and a red missile gate that I think should open but it won't. Their is also a passage way from the elevatore in brainstar behind a green door that when you go through it, you eventually get caught behind a gray door that won't open and get blocked by a gate a few rooms later. Where do you go from here?

DonnyDonovan

I tried this and can't really advance much past spore spawn either, save for a couple of missile expansions.  I also discovered the grey door and gate and couldn't figure out how to escape that area, but had a save outside that point.  Every other potential path of advancement appears to be blocked.

It's too bad.  This hack oozes potential, but, after six years I assume it has been abandoned.

jet

Maybe if you or somebody knows how to use an editor (or SMILE), they can fix this by making the grey door turn blue after spore spawn is beaten and then upload a new patch

Zeran

Hello!
As you can probably imagine, I'm the creator of this hack.
It makes me glad to see that someone played this, even after about 6 years of inactivity. Actually, up until some time ago, this hack was still being developed, but due to some problems I was forced to discontinue it. It was a pity... a large portion of the game was already done, after all.
I could try and get back to it. Who knows.

Anyway, thank you for showing interest!

DonnyDonovan

Well if you did decide to get back to it I would definitely follow along and take it for a longer spin.  There was some cool stuff in the little bit I did play.   I did have to IBJ to escape one room near the beginning.  I don't know if that was intended.

andlabs

In the meantime, in the latest patch, is the Charge Beam room escapable, or was I not supposed to get there at this point? The two doors don't open; there are no enemies to kill; bombing everywhere doesn't seem to reveal anything; there's a noise I hear near the entrance but I don't have any idea what to do about it. Current status: morph ball, bomb, charge beam, at least 30 missiles, at least 20 super missiles, 1 energy tank, and wall jump. Thanks!

Aran;Jaeger

The problem with this hack is that there is roughly 20 pairs of 2 or 3 items that share the item index (for example collecting Morphing Ball causes Varia Suit to vanish). So one needs to be careful about what items one collects. Not sure if anyone even played through it yet, but it might aswell be impossible to finish it.

andlabs

In that case I wonder if it's safe to say "the demo ends at Super Missiles" (though wouldn't one of the authors have said that explicitly? unless I missed it...).
