Quietus

I'm just copying this in here, since it makes sense, and I don't remember seeing it done.
QuoteThe Metroid thing could certainly be possible, by hijacking their routine for hunting Samus, and transferring it to enemies.  Then either make an enemy that looks like a scientist (or whatever you want to be eaten), or create an invisible enemy, and place it over the existing scientist tiles.  Nom, nom, nom! :metroid:
It could also be easier to transfer their attacking of Mother Brain, rather than Samus.

This is sort of like zm's cutscene where the chozo are having their life forces sucked out.

Oh was it the space pirates then?  :pwuh:  my memory gets fuzzy sometimes. I got to think before I type.  :=x:

personitis

Indeed it was the pirates. No worries though. I won't hold such against ya.

I've  got another idea. Beam sword over grapple beam like smash bros beam sword. but it actually acts like a sword, so it's not just a graphics change.

Quietus

I'm fairly certain that somebody already made something similar a long time ago.  I want to say it was Insomnia, but I'm not at all sure.

So it was probably done before, but was forgotten/lost?

That's the one.  Do I get a bonus point for guessing the right name? :^_^:

I see. :whoa: So it has already been done... hmm what else can I think of...

personitis

As many bonus points as there are Metroids that were on SR388 Quietus. :heheh:

Quietus

I'm going to assume you mean before Samus eradicated them, except for a larva, which, after hatching, followed her like a confused child. :^_^:

How about an enemy that follows samus and tries to attack other enemies? (only for whatever room you were in, doesn't follow through doors.)

Quietus

That could be an idea if it did travel through doors with you (likely spawning in each room).  You could remove all of Samus's weapons, and have to dodge everything while your Metroid BuddyTM does the dirty work.

only said that because I was thinking it'd be too complicated to make one enemy do that when no others do. I should've specified.

Quietus

Pretty much everything is possible, given enough knowledge and time. :^_^:

Mon732

Funnily enough I did have a similar idea a while back but I wasn't that experienced at the time.
I wanted to use the baby metroid graphics for a metroid buddy that attacked enemies and drained their health, putting it into your reserve tanks.
I should try that again after I finish my current project.

Quietus

Maybe you could hijack some routine relating to the reserve tanks too, so that if your health is full, it'll store it until you need it, then fly over to you when you are injured, or drop below a certain amount of health.

X-tradyte

If everything goes smoothly, then I'll be able to get a hack started with the idea of a museum layout. Like, you know the movies Night of the Museum..except, it would be metroid style.

pretty much something like Darkholme Hospital except a museum. I came up with this when I saw Quote's tileset for this weeks RotW.  :heheh:

Zero laser... but it doesn't work exactly the same as brawl. (Mostly refering to Samus' power suit breaking.)  using this does alot of damage to samus and her enemies. (about 6 e-tanks or more?) And there has to be some limitations, perhaps similar to crystal flash.

Quietus

You could provide us with some explanation as to what it does.  Not everybody has played Brawl.

Okay. It's a huge beam that does alot of damage to whoever is hit by it, so much damage that it almost knocks them off the stage. (and eventually does so after a certain amount of damage is taken) And in brawl, it changes samus to zero suit samus because it breaks her power suit. but instead of that part, in super metroid it would make samus lose alot of energy.  It also goes through walls, but should have a certain length. it's width should be about four or eight tiles wide. (probably four, eight seems too overpowered.)

She already waves her head around for a while before charging, and then draws her head back before unleashing it.  Any more time, and it'll feel like the game's crashed. :^_^:
