Any way to hack Super Metroid on an Android device?

Hello, I had an amazing idea for a hack called "Super Metroid: Dark Zebes", which I posted a day ago In the hack ideas topic. I would like to make this hack a reality, but I don't have a PC, and a PC is out of my price range, so I wanted to ask, would it be possible to make a Super Metroid hack on my Kindle Fire? It might not be possible, but I figured I should ask...

no
...in long, Android doesn't support VisualBasic projects, to my knowledge. You'd have to create an editor specifically for Android, and given that you're the only person such a thing is in demand for, that's unlikely to happen like, ever.
Unless you wanna make it.

In other news, you can probably get a PC that will run SMILE for like, 50 bucks. It's not exactly an intensive program to run.
This. SMILE, JX and RF all works perfectly even on W98. So, you'll need to buy at least Pentium II or Celeron ~300 MHz. This is enough for system, running SMILE and ZSNES without lags.

To be honest, my parents don't really think I need a computer, and I don't think me wanting to hack Super Metroid will sway them. I will probably make hacks after I move out, but I was just wondering about this in the meantime.

Tell 'em you need it for school. Works every time.  :heheh:

School? Slowly completing hacks on old technology? :^_^:

Almost. This is the first time I've seen you fail a pun. I'm disappointed Quietus.

Quietus

You know, I posted that seconds before I left work. I realised as soon as I pulled off in my car, and I facepalmed all the way home.

Forgive me, OK? :^_^:

PKstarship

My parents are smart enough to know I don't REALLY need a PC, but it'll be fine. Also Quietus, it's not that big of a deal to mess up a joke. I've had so many facepalm moments that it's insane

My parents have a PC that I can do schoolwork on, but they use it a lot, so I probably wouldn't have any time to use it for hacking, and hacking takes lots of time. I guess it'll be a few years then

Well, PKstarship, if your android tablet is good enough, it actually is possible to get basically an emulator of a PC, for android. Its a little bit complicated, but nothing a little bit of research online can't solve, so, theoretically, yes, it would be possible to create a hack using an android tablet.

I feel ya mate, I feel ya, I so, getting hacks done ain't easy, but, just hang in there! Also, the program to allow you to run Windows on your tablet might very well cost a little bit of cash, but nothing too big to my knowledge. What I said above would probably be your best bet. Also...

Considering they work on Windows 98 with virtually no lag, that would probably make that or Windows XP your best bet, who knows, maybe you could even get Editroid working on 98!

Funny, I was just thinking about finding a PC emulator for Android. I want to make a hack of Mega Man 6 that has Samus and Zero Suit Samus playable, but my DOS MM6 editor is kinda sad right now. I saw a good editor for Mega Man 3-6 on ROM-Hacking.net, but it runs on Windows. I would like to use Editroid too, seems like there is a lot of cool stuff you can do with it.

Meeptroid

Yea, they do exist, kinda scarce, but I have had one myself once, if you have a good tablet, you should be good, it might be a little laggy, but that's because they are still quite new I do believe. And yes, Editroid is an amazing editor, the one I would recommend. Good luck at attempting hacking, you are going to need it trying to hack on a tablet, but I'm sure its possible

PKstarship

Do you happen to remember the name of the emulator? That might make this a bit easier.

Meeptroid

Ok, I might have been wrong, they might have taken the app off the market, and I cannot remember the name, so, this might not be possible, I didn't try to ruin your chances at hacking, so, here's my best advice, look up a cheap computer online or something, and if you get an allowance or something, save up, or try to look further into the windows on android thing, I couldn't find much, but here, this might be helpful

Good luck PK!

PKstarship

Actually, I found an emulator called Limbo. It needs a Windows install ISO, so I downloaded Windows 98.

Meeptroid

Nice! I didn't realize anymore existed! Maybe if Editroid will work with Win 98, you could even hack Metroid! I could never really get into SMILE, but then again, that WAS when I was like, 8 or 9, I'm 13 now, so, I might be able to figure out how to use it. GOOD LUCK PK!

PKstarship

Actually, I'm not sure the app I found is quite what I need. It might not be able to run Editroid and stuff. I might have to keep looking for a PC emulator.

Meeptroid

Damn, that's gotta suck, finding something, and then it might not be the thing...
