FPzero

Please do what JAM has just mentioned with the palettes. One of the biggest things putting me off from playing this yet, aside from the general feeling of instability due to the bug reports mentioned here, is how downright ugly a lot of the palettes in this hack look.  In my opinion, it's better to leave palettes alone unless you can actually change them well.  And, well, it doesn't look like you can change them well in many places, sorry.  Learn how to do proper shading, gradation and colorization and add that to your list of things to do for new versions and the other hack you've mentioned you're working on.

Mettyk25jigsaw

FPZero, The decision's already been made to do the BG for next version for 1st area and also decided to put back the palette in tourian as JAM suggested amongst other things, so all is well... :bounce: It has been partially started on too the bg improvement... :^_^:

Strokend

Kind of curious: Why are the doors just a rectangle sitting there on a black bubble?

Mettyk25jigsaw

Quick answer, part of it was to be able to save space in the CRE for custom doors like beam doors, you are probably wondering how that would work. But that would be the long reason amongst others, and no, the long answer is not worth explaining...Although other parts to the answer have already been explained here in earlier posts...

Mettyk25jigsaw, I am in an area , perhaps the caves i think where letters appear on the mini-map. I am going in circles. What clues am I supposed to see to figure this out. Thank you.
I am in base zero after getting the wall boost
I just fixed Tourian for you. Archive is attached. Palette row 6 is no longer used by Event Doors for all tilesets.

By the way, was it intended, to not show "Q" when bombing Quantum blocks?

Also, please also make Event Doors close after you too. I know, in some rooms there are 2 states, in which in 1st state Layout is just changed, so the Event Doors (closed) are just solid blocks and in 2nd state there are the doors. Since you're repointed PLMs to another bank, there'll be no problems to add few PLMs. That's how it should be made to save space (for example):

PLMBank:
8000: Event door 1 (closed)
8006: Event door 2 (closed)
;Other PLM starting here
800C: Racheta
8012: Mega Racheta
8018: Another Racheta hidden in scenery

In 1st state PLM pointer should be $8000 to include closed doors. PLMs 02..04 are used for the items. Both doors (and even all one way doors) can use the same index.

In 2nd state (item related) PLM pointer should be $800C and include only items. PLMs 00..02 will be used for the items.

Do NOT open spoiler if you do NOT want the answer to Plush's question...
You have to be in said area, but best idea is to put a manual save on emulator each time or every 2nd time(if you like etc) you successfully guess the correct door to go through and the room is different to the one scroll room, eventually you will get there....Hint...there are 2 or 3 occasions where you must re-enter the door you came out of the other end...Good luck...
JAM, Q blocks are showing up fine for me when you bomb them, no problem there I think...Unless it's just the one room it's doing it in, and in that case you might want to upload an image/screenshot of spot/area...

Also thanks for going to the trouble for archive file, however I fixed that myself yesterday and also put tourian back to it's original palettes... :^_^:

As for the doors closing behind you, if I was to do every door inc the doors that are not white but are sharing the same door index on same scroll and same direction, well that would take forever and really, does it really need doing, my honest opinion is NO...You must also take into consideration I have 3 difficulty versions and can not make a patch from one to another because some settings are different between versions...The doors are like that for a reason too a lot of them...However one day I may still decide to do it, and don't think that 'may' means probably not, as I tend to have the character that I will talk myself into it one day...As it would take a long time, I feel there are more important things to polish up in my hack B4 I can start on thinking of doing something like this...But you may like to know that I have done that one door that you posted an image on in Mahagan...If it was a small amount of doors and rooms to do in total, I'd do it for next version...I'm sorry for now JAM, but chances will be good it will be done in the future when I am not working so much on polishing the rest of my first hack...

Also Jam, thankyou for mentioning bug on grapple doors, it actually 'was' an issue, reason it was not opening for me is because if you have the charge beam equipped like I did, it won't open, but with it unequipped or uncollected, it will open it...However, I have fixed this...Thankyou so ever much my good friend JAM... :^_^:

Next version should be out within several hours, with lots of improvements this time, inc BG improvements, tourian GFX/palette improvements, couple of bugs, improvement on ending scene (this one of my own choice), amongst others...

Mettyk25jigsaw, I figured it before I saw your post here . But I did do as you said and I got there. Thanks for your reply.

Mettyk25jigsaw

Released V1.9...

IMPERATIVE TO READ---IMPERATIVE TO READ B4 DOWNLOADING v1.9!!!!!   If you have already got the swinger/grapple beam, then you must go back to where you got the grapple beam shown in the image file upload on first post of this topic and head through to Brinstar's/Messadon's torizo room through the red door in image file...This will activate grapple beam doors to be openable as I had to find a fix to them as Luchere beam could open them without collected or equipped charge beam...Don't worry just by going through this section will make grapple doors openable again...I had to do it this way as I had not enough knowledge about how to fix it any other way...Sorry for any inconvenience...You don't need to worry about doing anything though if you have not yet collected the grapple beam/swinger or b4 starting the game...

For list of changes and download go to 1st post of this topic...

Mettyk25jigsaw, I did what you said to do concerning swinger, but I can not open this door. I went back to where I got the swinger and went through red door to torizo room. Maybe I am not allowed to open this at this time ?.

Mettyk25jigsaw

That's not a swinger door, you need the fuser for dark green...swinger doors are light blue...

I need to look at the manual more often.

What I mean by this is that I was using the  luchere beam to open the swinger doors  before your fix. That led to confusion on my part.  The manual does clearly show which beams etc. are required to open the doors.

I got it. It's not a "Q" blocks. It's just a solid block, looking like a Mega Racheta under Transpatent Glasses.

If it's a solid block, maybe looking not breakable block will be better? By the way, what should I do, to get this item? Some event should happen and after that I finally should be able to get it?

But you may like to know that I have done that one door that you posted an image on in Mahagan...If it was a small amount of doors and rooms to do in total, I'd do it for next version...I'm sorry for now JAM, but chances will be good it will be done in the future when I am not working so much on polishing the rest of my first hack...
Yeah, but there are still a lot of them:

Also, triple doors before Morphing Ball.
I know, you're doing your best and speed in which you fixing errors is one of things I liked about this hack. Thank you for doing that.

No problem. I really appreciate that you made such a big hack and making effords of improving and polishing it. =)

And I have question.

What I suppose to do here? Looks like an alraedy opened gate. You can shot with Mega Rachete. But what's next?

You can see crumble blocks with Transparent Glasses here. But there isn't. Looks like a enemy stop block.

After going through door from above you're apearing with feet stuck in the land. A very little bug, but it's a bit annoying. Will you fix it? All you need to do is set distance from door. If it's 0000, try to set 01C0. If Samus is still stucking here, try to reduce the value. Try 0180, 0140 etc.

Another place when it's happening is room just after Morphball maze. One more -- room with sandfalls in Maridia that you fixed in previous versions.

And... another permastuck here. 12 are left. Time to make 2.0? You can open the purple door here with Mega Racheta, but you can't enter. This bug presents in both versions, 1.8 and 1.9. By the way, where I suppose to get the Wall Booster?

Mettyk25jigsaw

#113
Thanks JAM, Once again for your kind input, you are really helping me here and have been great...Thanks...

I will improve on image 1 and 7 for next version...
As for the perma...believe it or not it's not...Once you have obtained the Naelleyn/gravity suit, the door will open and same with speed booster door in same room...I could put signs here I suppose but I suspect because there are already 2 items in room and these signs are also made out of items, there will be a glitch...So it's back to 13 I guess...

Image 5....If you shoot that Mega racheta thing, it will unlock mega racheta tile further left on which you can't otherwise unlock...

Image 6...It's there for a good reason, to stop climbing enemies to be in open (non wall) territories...

Images 2,3,4...Chances are they will be improved one day...I am going to have to rearrange door pointers for probably each and every room so they can have their own door tile value...

Walljump? is next for you...Open spoiler Only if you want the answer to JAM's question...
As to where to go next, keep heading left all the way from where you are in your image post (8) (directly left) and you should come to another one of those rooms with a lot of bomb slots with white doors like you have in brinstar/messadon...Use the bomb slots that are blocked by the Ice beam/chiller AND Sphay beam and open the door that flashes near the top...(do not enter elevator)...However to get to the correct flashing door, you must head right first in same room after you bomb the bomb slot and when you are at the end and edge of the second platform with bomb slots (starting from left), jump up and around to the left between the pillars and head through the flashing doors...Stop here if you don't want to know anymore....There's really only one direction to go from here and you'll end up at a white door...You roll into a ball and roll into and next to the white door and bomb it staying stationary, that will open the door...You then go up the elevator and then head to Chaud bay/Norfair and then head to Mahagan again using the top right hand door inside the 'very' top right hand room of Chaud bay/Norfair...The white door that was originally blocking you should be flashing now...Good luck...
EDIT....NOTE TO JAM...Forgot about other question, sorry...For everyone else, only open this next spoiler if you want answer to JAM's question about how to get that item inside invisible blocks in base zero...
There is a teleporter/sector switch somewhere that will connect to it (inside base zero) you need nuclear hand grenade to get to it......
piush

Hi Mettyk25jigsaw. I also like the size of this hack. So much area to explore and I never feel over powered because of limitations on items. The puzzles are nice also. Sometimes I wonder if I solved them correctly because I nay find a door that opens later   So this leads me to ask, where do I head now ?.
After getting the accelerator boots and then getting the rinder, your secret room says I still need to be in base zero sector 3. I feel like I need something else to move on in there. Is this where i am supposed to be at now. Thank you.
Mettyk25jigsaw

Plush, double checked it...It sais Base zero Sector 1 as it's suPpose to be after Rinder...You must have accidentally read it wrong or read the speed booster one instead...

piush

Thank you Mettyk25jigsaw. I wasn't implying anything was wrong with your game. Once again it was me. All along I was wondering what those orbs surrounding gates etc. were. Once I woke up a light came on. So I had never checked beyond the accelerator part for clue. Now I have more areas also I can go back to.

piush

Mettyk25jigsaw, how do I open this white door. Thank you .

Mettyk25jigsaw

For those who do NOT want the answer to Plush's question do NOT open spoilker:
You must first go down to the bottom left of this room you uploaded in image and go forward from there and there is really only one direction to go here, although there is a mega raceheta switch (like the plm pole door switch--[switch only]) that you must find and shoot first...Also, there's a simple trick you must do with the rinder/charge beam as you must charge while kneeling, shoot, roll into ball and roll under tunnel to make the beam hit the charge beam enemy...Once you get back into the room where you uploaded image one door higher up from where you previously exited out of, then I think it's the Sphay beam you need to shoot up. Now the white door should be flashing...Good luck...
Xaphan

Stuck again in the escape :
I can't shoot that block because I do not have the right beam anymore, and I am stuck down here no matter what I tried. WHat should I do ?
Cheers,

piush

Thanks Mettyk25jigsaw. I had done everything you said to do before I messaged you but for some reason I could not pull off that trick. Once you confirmed what I had to do I kept trying and succeeded. :)

EDIT:

nice reward

If you do NOT want the answer to Xaphans Question, then do NOT open spoiler:
Can't you open the 'S' block with the sphay Beam, you should have it, if not there is an issue? If that is not the case and you can open the S block, head upwards and through the shot block and head left...Then around to the other side of white door, roll into ball and then into and beside the white door on the left side of door, place a bomb (while stationary) next to the door (a normal bomb) and the door should open...The Metroid should then be able to come through the white opened door and assist you further...However I will look into right now unless I made a mistake as that is one of the rooms I improved on in version 1.9 at the ending scene...I'll get back to you soon if there is an issue or not...
EDIT: Xaphan, I have checked it, open spoiler below:

If you do NOT want the answer to Xaphans Question, then do NOT open spoiler:
You also may have trouble getting the Metroid to open the sector switch/teleporter, it's quite tricky, however I thought that was something I should improve on, so I uploaded version 2 along with some other small improvements, if you've manually saved somewhere b4 this room, then this version will make it easier...Also you should have the sphay beam to open that tile, if you do not, then please let me know...If that was the issue and I have understood you correctly in your last post that is...Thankyou...
PS...It may be the Metroid too getting in the way of the tile, try shooting at the time the Metroid is away from the tile...Somewhere somehow, hopefully, I have now solved it for you, fingers crossed...Good luck...
Mettyk25jigsaw

Released V2.0...Did this one sort of on behalf of Xaphan...It's not really a perma but something probably a little too hard to figure out in regards to something at the ending scene, so I improved on it...Plus there are a couple other small improvements...

Xaphan

Mettyk25jigsaw,

The issue is once you've defeated mother brain, you lost all your beam and can only use the equivalent of the Hyper eam, wich do not work on beam specifics blocks. So for now I'm still stuck :(

Cheers

Mettyk25jigsaw

Of course, how stupid of me, I'll upload next version now...Sorry...
