@ShadowOne333 , you need to check the new thread (which is kind of dead, I think PHOTOSHOPiDYL is the only one with enough skill to do this):
http://forum.metroidconstruction.com/index.php/topic,4115.0.html
You'll find the latest version there.

PS (off topic) I just found out you're the author of Maternalbound.  That's one of my favorite "definitive edition" hacks out there!

Thank you for redirecting me to the proper thread!
And yes, MaternalBound is my work, I'm glad that you enjoyed it! :)

About a week ago, I started streaming my SMILE sessions on Twitch (twitch.tv/thebegrimed1), which had the unexpected side-effect of making me PRODUCTIVE AS HELL. I don't have a set stream schedule or anything, but my streams usually last for many hours straight, and I've been averaging about two rooms per stream. I didn't wanna say much about it until I knew for sure whether or not it would work out.

Come hang out if you don't mind spoilers! I usually have my microphone on, and I try to narrate what I'm doing as I edit, so it might be a learning experience for new hackers as well.

Tomtroid

@begrimed That's interesting. I might check it out later today.

Thirteen1355

That's really cool.
And it's NOT Hitbox. I will be visiting for sure!

Tomtroid

@begrimed I noticed that your videos had copyrighted music that got muted. Have you considered not using any music in future devstreams?

begrimed

I thought I'd lucked out and chose songs that weren't gonna get popped with that, but I guess not. So far it's been one song on each vod that got removed, which I've taken off the playlist.

Music helps a lot when I'm level editing, so I don't know if I could work in total silence. I guess I could try it if people just don't like music in the background, although I was careful to balance out the audio levels so that my voice isn't hard to hear. The first time I streamed, I just played music that I made myself, so I guess I could go back to doing that.

Tomtroid

@begrimed That can work, too. Right now I'm watching your previous stream and I'm liking what you've done with the old Tourian area in Crateria. Maybe someday you can let me beta test 0.8. :)

begrimed

Thanks, it took a lot of fiddling to catch a stride with it that I liked. Bricky tilesets are much harder for me to get right than cavey stuff. I'm dreading Wrecked Ship muchly. And absolutely, you can beta 0.8 when it gets to that point. No ETA on that. Still got a lot to do before it's even playable again.

Tomtroid

@begrimed If I'm not mistaken, are you serious about wiping out Crateria and rebuilding it?

begrimed

Not necessarily rebuilding it, but adding more detail, and in some cases, changing up the landscape to be less repetitive and stuff.

Crateria is basically done now, design-wise. All that's left are a couple of elevator rooms, and then some foreground detailing for a few rooms, and probably some other smaller tasks. Doors/enemies/PLMs still need to be done, though.

Tomtroid

That's good to hear, @begrimed. Looking forward to seeing more from the next devstream. :)

PHOSPHOTiDYL

The room in maridia b4 draygon, 7D72A, has apparently been crashing when heading towards the missile & energy refills. So idk if this will actually fix things, since I loaded a save from the same room, but swapping the 2 plms didn't freeze things this time.

In case anyone still has problems. Possibly symptoms of modding.

begrimed

The same crash can happen in the room before Ridley, PHOS. I haven't verified it yet because I don't know how to recreate the crash consistently, but someone said it was caused by the eye doors that guard bosses. Something about the orbs they fire at Samus being able to cause a crash under certain circumstances. I've considered taking them out in the next update if the bug can't be definitely found and fixed. :/

Have you tried replacing the Eye Doors with Missile Doors? I believe Hyper Metroid has Missile Doors before almost every major boss as far as I know.

begrimed

If the eye doors can't be fixed, then yeah, I'd probably go with something like that, and then have some other very clear indicators that you're about to fight a boss. Maybe those eyes that shine the yellow light on you next to morph ball.

I think that would be too much regarding the eyes with the yellow light. Just a missile door should be enough to indicate a boss would be nearby since Hyper never used those eyes anyway. Besides, I think the light shining from the eye would just look weird on the acid in Lower Norfair.

SnakeLancer

Strange hmm... I had a Project Base rom hack where it ended after Kraid, maybe I should check your updated one xd

chitose

I really enjoyed this a lot. 2:17 and 90% item completion. The changes to the rooms and physics opened up a lot more possibilities for sequence breaks, and neat tricks. The color differences helped make everything fresh again, too. Great work!
I managed to get the rewards from Crocomire and Ridley before fighting them. I was sorta hoping I could sneak into the boss rooms from the back door, but it was plenty fun doing those sequence breaks anyway.
begrimed

chitose:
Thanks! Entering either side of Crocomire's room before he is killed would be pretty difficult to pull off. There are ways to get gravity suit and space jump without killing their respective bosses, though. :D Varia suit as well.
infinality

This was an excellent hack.  I hope that other projects besides Hyper Metroid end up using this as a base.
