With which one are you confortable with? I use to B= jump y = dash a=fire probably a reminescence of Super Mario games...

Which one did you use? Whats the more confortable?

I set run as the thumb axis, so to speak. IMO jump n shoot is the action combination I feel like I use the least while playing
B = Jump
A = Run
X = Shoot
Y = Item Select
Select = Item Cancel

I started out playing Castlevania style: A = run B = Jump Y = Shot X = item cancel

ProjectXVIII

Completely default, even leaving weapon switching on Select.

passarbye

Y= shoot
X= item select
B= jump
A= run
Select= item cancel
everything else default.

makes it possible to never stop moving, even when needing to switch items.

squishy_ichigo

A = shoot
B = jump
X = item cancel
Y = dash

everything else default

same as OP

Zero One

I just leave everything as default. I have no need to change it.

A_red_monk_called_Key

R = run
Y = shoot
B = jump
X = item Select
A = item Cancel
L = angle down

Quietus

Y = Shoot
X = Item Select
B = Jump
A = Run
Select = Item cancel, though I have it set to L2 on my PSX controller, so it's much easier to use.

Default for me.

I use my right thumb to press select.

Jump - B
Fire - Y
Run - A
Item cancel - X
Rest would be default I guess.

Default. It's how I learned it, so it's what I stick with. I do have to change things up while using the keyboard, but that's more of a emulator configuration, I never change it in-game.

YES!
I'm used to the default layout as well. I'm also pretty good with Kej's
control freak patch as the control scheme plays much like Zero Mission.

Exactly this except X as item select

JAM

I have default key combination, but I've reallocated the keys in emulator especially for Super Metroid. So I have 2 configs in my emulator folder: for Super Metroid and other games.

So, in my keyboard I'm using these keys:
Jump -- D [2nd finger]
Shit -- S [3rd finger]
Angle Up -- A [4th finger]
Angle Down -- Z [4th finger]
Item Select -- W [3rd finger]
Item Cancel -- E [3rd finger, 2nd sometimes]
Run -- Ctrl [5th finger]
Start -- Enter [right hand]

Starting position: Ctrl, A, S, D

I've got rainbow colored buttons! :grin:
Yay for PAL!

And since I mostly play SM on an emulator:
Shoot - S
Jump - D
Run - C
Item Cancel - X
Diagonal aim - A/Z
Item Select - Space
