QuoteSo did you just edit the metroid's using TLP to make them look like X-troids? That was a awesome hack btw.
yes. and what happened is that i tried to use the rings that i used with torzo in metroid rooms. too load my rings the game had to load all torzos graphic panel and that caused a similar glitch. so i had to make new rings.  if you change the metriod graphics and reanimate them to use less graphic space it should work. you also may need a smaller ship too.

Unfortunately I have no clue or the skill to do such a thing, currently. Why would it make such a difference if I just changed the color of the Metroids directly, I can't use TLP because I'll screw that up.

Cloud20

Hum... did you tried your hack before replacing the palette, I mean with metroid added in landing site? If you don't, we can think your glitch is linked to the room : adding another enemies in more of the ship is something annoying because in many case it cause glitch. For a moment, try to check your palette change in an another room than landing site, just to check if the glitch is present away from a room containing ship and if the new palette takes effect.  :^_^:

Corruptor

yup I thought the same thing, and You were right.

If you check the Current Hacks sticky thread in the Super Metroid board you'll see my archive containing all hacks, past and present, made for Super Metroid. If you stumble through it, you'll see lots of first hacks, from Vino to Spread of Darkness to Colors to Warfare. Lots of 'it's my first hack :D', and believe me, by that standard, your hack looks amazing.

Thanks, sir. This will not be a FULL hack as I had first intended. I might even cancel this one and take a look at a smaller one...

Currently, I have a buggy demo that does not-very well show all of my progress-I won't be working on this for a while, as I have lost the interest in finishing it. If you are willing to tell me how to fix my awful bugs or give me tips, then go ahead, they will be appreciated.
After the Bomb Torzio-which is broken even though I changed hex so he would activate when I grabbed morphball-he worked in testing mode. When you morph into the wall you will move to the right and see yourself go stop at a invisible wall- it is a gate. Aim up and jump and shoot and it should open. there is a blue door to the right. Have fun.
Metaquarius

-Landing Site : Bottom of the sky BG looks glitchy
Already said before, remove the Metroid for the allowed enemies list (you don't use them, right ?)

-Red Brinstar 7A322 : Scrolling issue when going into the morph passage
Seemingly you've misplaced the 2 scroll PLMs, just invert their location.

-Torizo 79804 : Graphical mess when re-entering after Torizo's defeat
Wrong graphic set setup in the E629 State

-Wave Beam 7D104 : BG Data issue
Missing Layer2 Background, Use Tools>BackgroundEditor>ADDLayer2Background or use a valid BGData pointer

On a side note, quit putting ramdomly placed hidden pickups in walls, that's definitely NOT a good idea.

For the sky scrolling error at samus spawn (annoying think happening always for strange reasons), you can try it (make a backup of your room by caution)
Enter your landing site, open Area Load Station.
Now you have a first door code with Room ID (91F8). In the following blank with button <XXXX, type 8AC6 and click Save. It could be works.

Now for GFX shift error, it's quite odd, generally like I already said, it's a scroll error but it can't be it because this happen at the really beginning of the game (landing site) without crossing any door. So may be like Metaquarius said, you should remove metroid enemies from the allowed list.

Bye

Don't worry, I'll fix it when I get back to my project....which I don't know when that will happen. I was planning to make it far more obvious for the pickups to be seen, but I am not good with creating tiles and I don't know where to start, but you'll be wasting your time if you tell me how because I've lost interest in hacking for some reason....thanks for the feed back and I hope to get back to you soon with a finished project.

I am going to slice this over and start a clean slate yet again. I think this is required.

This weekend, I will start a hack, yet again. I don't mean to ask you to do this for me, as i can check later....and i know i removed my rooms and videos, but what constructive criticism can you give me to HELP me. I want to do something new, like create my own palette. Does someone have a guide on that or did shadow already make one? I do not like to watch his videos, as sometimes it is hard to understand him because his video audio is so low. How do I create back-ups? Do i simply copy and paste, or do something else, and it is alright if you do not want to help me with these things, as I should be less lazy and do them myself...however, I plan to release pictures of my rooms that look fantastic! What video recorders and editors do you use to make your trailers? I must know so that I can make my own!!!
What do you want in terms of something new (just give me a color of tiles or something like "i want to see rocky tiles!" I understand that this might be difficult, considering that you don't know how i plan to make my rooms)? What sort of colors DO YOU think would fit this hack? I want to make MINE OWN tiles. If you want to help me, it would be appreciated. PM me if you feel the need to. And please, Zhs2, if I am asking for too much, then just tell me, lol. Anyone else can tell this noob the same thing if necessary. I can only get better if I LISTEN to constructive criticism, but not if I turn deaf ears. Thanks.

I created a convenient tool for this, which you can find here.  You should also ensure that you send yourself the occasional copy via e-mail, or look into free storage options, such as Dropbox.

For creating movies, there are tonnes of options, but if you want to get started with the basics, I wrote a guide, which you can find here. :^_^:

Cloud20

I think some people can give you advices for creating movies, I believe I can be one of them :)
So if you have a specific question about audio/video montage, feel free to PM me

So you're making a hack based on people's current interest, not according to your own tastes ? How dull...

Right, I thought it would be a foolish choice....to ask what you want, and I also figured no one would want to answer. It will be original though :3. I just got to work with TLP, and such. On certain tile palette's, can I add a tile through TLP where the white X's are, or would that corrupt other tiles?

Quietus

To a degree you can, but you need to be careful, as you will overwrite other stuff.  Alternatively, you can use one of the patches to repoint the data, and use all of them. :^_^:

If I used the Blend Palette patch, would I be able to do it? Or do I need a different one.

Quietus

You need one of the tileset repointing patches.  FlameStar666 made one that repoints the tilesets to free space.  DSO made one too, which repoints them all, but it also copies the same tileset a load of times, so if you want to keep the original tiles, you'll need to export them first, and them import them back in afterward.  Generally speaking, everybody uses DSO's patch.

So I edit the tiles after Exporting them, then Import the tiles back in. That what your saying?

Quietus

No, I'm saying if you use FlameStar's patch, you don't need to, as it just repoints the tilesets to free space.  DSO's is considered the better patch, but if you use it, it copies tileset one and overwrites all of the other tilesets, so if you want to use the original tiles, they will be gone.  You will have to import them back into their original positions if you want to use them.  You don't have to edit anything, just import the same tilesets back in.

In short, export all of your tilesets, apply DSO's patch, then import your tilesets back in.

ah, crap, I'm going to have to restart it. Oh well, didn't get far enough to call it progress... Do i have to export every tileset one at a time? Or does just exporting once export them all.

Quietus

Unfortunately, it's the former.  Change to tileset one, export, change to tileset two, export, etc.

Well, at least for the ones you want to keep anyway.  If you want to keep them all, then yes, export them all.

Well, I was hoping that wasn't the case  :heheh:, i would like to thank you all for your kind help and patience   :^_^: I hope to gain support for this when I lift it off the ground. Thanks!

hi Corruptor, you have a date for when this rom hack will be released? thanks!
